Chapter iii

Another dream of meeting his mate. The Alpha stared at her, trying to memorize her face.

"You might poke a whole on my face with how intense, you're staring at me," she chuckled.

"I wish I could remember how beautiful you are, Luna. . ." he whispered under his breath.

He is holding her waist, drawing gentle circles on it.

"I wonder how are we able to still meet through our dreams?" the asked.

"I'm not sure myself," she responded, knowing exactly it's a lie.

"Sometimes I feel like you're a mere delusion that my mind created out of sheer loneliness. . " Alpha Hendrix muttered with a sad expression visible on his eyes.

"Alpha. . ." She mumbled causing him to almost shiver with how gentle her voice is.

"No matter how much I keep telling myself that you might just be a simple dream, everything about you is just so real. As if you're just near, but I couldn't really touch you. If this is just an illusion, then why am I feeling this way?" He asked while holding her cold hands.

"This is not an illusion, Alpha. . . " She smiled at him, then caressed his face, making him close his eyes.

"I wish I could finally meet you, Luna," he whispered under his breath.

He saw how her eyes flash in pain every time he says that. It hurts him, but he still has a question lingering on his mind. . . Why? What is hurting her?

"We can't," his Luna said in a bitter tone. Hendrix couldn't help but feel hopeless.

"Why? What's stopping you?" He asked with a dark expression on his face.

"Because meeting me will only cause you pain. Letting our fates cross will only hurt you, Alpha," she uttered, almost a plead.

Hendrix's hands formed into a fist. "I can handle pain, no matter how extreme and tormenting it is. I only wish to be with you Luna," he pressed on.

The silver wolf just shook her head at him. "No, you don't understand."

"I could. If you tell me your reason, lady," he hissed then sighed as he stared at her confused face.

Her heart hitched at the thought of being finally with her mate, but she knows that she can't be selfish, especially that she's getting near her goal. She can't just waste the efforts it took them for centuries to ‌give justice to her fallen home.

"I can't, I'm sorry. . ." she looked away as she met his piercing gaze.

"I will find you," he said with a determined tone.

"How are you going to do that?" she asked.

"Luna, you're forgetting that I am your mate. I will know once I found you," he exclaimed.

His mate just sighed as she leaned closer and kissed the side of his lips.

"You won't Alpha. Trust me, you won't be able to find me," she whispered causing confusion.

The Alpha just shook his head in disagreement. "I'll be the judge of that," he pressed on. "If I need to search you in every corner of this world, I will. Once I find you, you won't be able to push me away, remember that," he grinned.

The woman just looked away with tears falling from her eyes. "It's too late for that Alpha. . . "

The sight of his mate crying greatly pains him. "Who hurt you, Luna?" he asked with a dim expression, while wiping his mate's tears.

"Let me be. This is my fight, Alpha," she indicated.

"Then let me fight along side with you, Luna. Your fight is my fight too," he pleaded.

Feeling tired, the silver wolf could only smile as she lovingly caressed his face.

Even if it's just a dream, they could feel their strong connection. The string of fate that is keeping them connected, even if there seems to be a strong force that's stopping them; Their fate would always find a way to let the two lonely souls meet.

The alpha has a dark expression on his face as soon as he woke up from his deep sleep where he meets his Luna.

"I need to find her faster," he said, clenching his jaw.

He could feel it. His mate is in deep pain.

His emotions were snatched away from him because of how long he lived. He used to think that he's already gotten completely numb.

Now just the thought of his mate being in pain, hurts him more than anything.

"Luna. . ." His deep, menacing voice whispered sensually as his lips slowly curved into a grin. "Just wait for me to find you and I'll dirty my hands for you."

Whoever is causing his mate to suffer should start praying, as they will face a terrifying fate in his own hands.

"Lilith, that's your name right?" a baritone voice said. She looked around and gasped when a tall man's figure suddenly appeared from the dark, as if he's a mere shadow.

The same man she encountered when she's escaping that hellish place.

'He had no presence nor sound and even smell, just what is he?' She asked in the back of her mind.

Unlike the kind Beta she just met, this man has a terrifying aura. She's losing her breath just being in the same room as him. She's frozen and her hands couldn't stop hovering as she watched the man take a step closer to her.

Gathering all her strength, she asked— "W—who are you?"

"I am here to take you to the Alpha," the man said in a cold tone; she could almost feel goosebumps all over her.

"I—I don't want to," she said stubbornly.

"I didn't ask if you wanted to or not," the man they call 'Ghost' responded in a lazy manner.

In the end, Lilith didn't have any choice but to tail the man as she was afraid he'd end her if she continued to be stubborn.

"Calm down, woman. The Alpha will just ask you a few questions. It depends on your answer if you get to live or not," Ghost warned, noticing how anxious Lilith is.

"T-Then I might die?" Lilith asked.

Ghost just stared at her and formed a small grin behind his mask. "Your call," he chuckled coldly, causing fear to consume Lilith more.

While they we're walking, Lilith noticed that nobody seems to notice Ghost as the pack members only see her first before getting to notice that she's walking behind the shadow-like man.

Unlike the Beta, the pack members couldn't joke around Ghost at all. The once loud area falls silent the moment they see Ghost. She could feel the tension and heavy atmosphere he could make people feel around him, making her curious just what kind of being he was.

"Woah. . ." she muttered then immediately covered her mouth as he looked at the man's direction.

She sighed in relief seeing that he doesn't seem to mind if she made any noise.

"I'm not gonna bite you, you can look around," Ghost shrugged as they continued walking.

She just bit her lips and looked away.

She's amazed at the old mansions they pass by. It seems like they all belong to the pack members.

'Are we not there yet?' Lilith asked at the back of her mind when they started walking towards a valley, and as they reached higher, she could see the whole territory even better.

It is indeed the biggest territory on the land of the wolves. The whole pack itself looks like a big city.

As they reach the top of the valley, they we're welcomed by a dark forest. She walked closer to Ghost as the forest gave off an eerie vibe.

"We're here," Ghost muttered as soon as they got out of the forest.

"Wow. . . " She muttered, amazed at the grand mansion in front of her.

The Alpha's lone mansion is sitting on top of the tallest valley that seems almost out of reach.

However, it seems that they have yet to ascend a lengthy flight of stairs. Lilith gulped and hesitated as she gazed down at the seemingly bottomless abyss beneath them. The enormous chasm rumbled with echoes, and you definitely wouldn't want to plummet into it as it would mean a certain end.

She was shaking the whole time while tailing Ghost, until they reached the entrance.

"How do you travel here every time?" She asked while catching her breath.

"I don't," Ghost shrugged then opened the grand door.

"You don't go here often?" She asked.

"I do," Ghost responded simply.

"You said you don't travel here everytime?" She asked, confused.

"Because I just don't," he responded lazily.

She just zipped her mouth as Ghost might misunderstand that she's being too comfortable.

She feels that Ghost only wanted to see her suffering, so he made her walk miles away from ‌headquarters.

As they made their way to the grand hall of the ancient castle, she let out a sigh. Despite the exhaustion, she couldn't help but be captivated by the view from the castle. It served as a source of comfort for her, as she was still filled with apprehension about meeting the Alpha.

"Calm yourself down, woman. The Alpha doesn't like it when you show him fear," Devon uttered coldly.

"Who wouldn't fear him? He is the reigning Alpha," Lilith pointed out.

"I don't," Ghost shrugged.

Lilith's jaw dropped. 'Just who is this man?' she thought.

Lilith couldn't help but gulp as she sensed the intense dominance of the Alpha. The man beside her, with his shadow-like presence, seemed to exude a similar force. Their auras seemed to collide, causing her to struggle against the urge to pass out.

"That doesn't help me in my situation," Lilith frowned. "You're the one who took me here right? You're Ghost?" She asked, mustering her strength. "Why did you take me here?" She continued.

"I am investigating the councils and I happen to see you escaping. Finding out that you are connected to them, you might become useful somehow," he shrugged without even looking at Lilith as he continued walking.

Lilith just looked down with her hands shaking. She couldn't help but be nervous, overthinking that she might make a mistake in front of Alpha Hendrix.

She's tired from all the torment she's experienced. Lilith wishes to at least live a comfortable life after suffering for so long, but that'd be impossible if the Alpha or Ghost ends her.

She closed her eyes and held her necklace to muster her strength. She decided she wanted to live.

‌ Alpha's office is located at the very top of the mansion. After walking through endless staircases, they managed to finally reach his office.

"Come in," a deep baritone voice said coldly before they could even knock.

The door opened on it's own, and Lilith felt like she's about to pass out the moment she entered his office.

The reigning Alpha is currently standing proudly, facing the huge glass window, observing his territory.

He possessed lengthy, dark locks and an immense, towering physique. His appearance was intimidating, and the aura of bloodlust emanating from him was menacing. It seemed as though his hands had spilled a great deal of blood. She couldn't shake the feeling that he could easily crush her like a mere bug.

The thought made her feel uneasy and frightened.

As she retreated cautiously, her back accidentally collided into the shadowy figure who had brought her into that place. "Behave yourself and don't over-react," he said in a frigid tone.

She was about to speak when the door behind them suddenly opened, revealing the Beta who seemed to be in a great hurry.

"Devon! Alpha!" The Beta called their names, then looked at Lilith's direction—worried.

The Beta was about to speak, when the Alpha decided to finally face them. Lilith remained frozen, seeing those emotionless golden eyes the gazed at her like he'll kill her at any moment.

She wanted to run, but she couldn't seem to move.

For some reason, disappointment flashed through the Alpha's eyes as he just shook his head while looking at her.

'Is he expecting something?' She thought.

"Devon said that you were connected to the Lunar Council," Alpha Hendrix asked in a bland tone, looking at her, uninterested.

She couldn't even bring herself to speak due to his intimidating presence.

"Answer me while I'm being kind," Alpha Hendrix hissed, making her immediately nod her head.

"Y—Yes Alpha," she responded nervously.

Alpha Hendrix just gave her a bored look as he sat on his swivel chair.

"You're scaring her, Alpha," the Beta pointed out.

Alpha Hendrix flashed a grin, his eyes remaining devoid of emotion, as if he considered everything a meaningless use of time.

"I did not invite her here to have tea and discuss sugary words, Beta. Shut your mouth for once, before I shut it myself," Alpha Hendrix said, annoyed then looked at Lilith's direction. "You smell strange. . ." he uttered. "You're also a werewolf, yet there's more to your blood that I find unpleasant. . ."
