Chapter 38: Making Amends

   Fluff.
Warnings: taboo subject for weres, public lashing, jealousy

Adam gave a once over to the new arrival that somehow looked so similar to him yet so different.
They both had short black hair, similar skin tones, were just about the same height and dressed in trenchcoats. However, Adam was an inch or two taller than this new Alpha. Whereas Adam's eyes were hazel, this Alpha had blue eyes. And the other Alpha wore a tie with his dress shirt and his clothes were a lighter color than Adam's.
"Are you Adam Pierson?" The newcomer asked in a deep voice.
    "That's me. Who are you?"
"I'm Castiel. I was sent to you by Mother Lupa."
Cas then explained what Mother Lupa had told him in his vision.
Adam nodded. "Well, never let it be said that I turned away a were in need of help. You're welcome here as long as you like. But I warn you that Merlin might not be happy to see you since you were working with the Winchesters."
Cas nodded. "Then I will find a way to make it right."
"I wish you the best of luck then."

With spring approaching, Freya's birthday came and went and, despite her young age, she was mated to Will, after finding out that they were true mates which wasn't surprising considering how quickly they'd grown ever since the cave fiasco.
The day after, Castiel stood outside Rose's house, exhaling deeply as he tried to build up the courage to face her. After all, he had been the one who'd kidnapped her and brought her to the Winchesters. If he was to stay on the farm, he'd need to make amends.
As he was about to knock on the door, it suddenly opened to reveal Rose standing there, dressed in blue jeans and a t-shirt that had "here comes trouble" printed on it.
A wide smile spread over her face when she opened the door for him. "Good morning." She said, sweetly. "You must be the new arrival. Castiel, right?"
"Yes. It's nice to meet you." He said, holding out a hand for her to shake.
"Come in." Rose said, opening the door further, allowing Cas inside.
He moved past her and into the kitchen where her pups sat at the table, eating some oatmeal. One of them threw their bowl and Rose ducked, only for Cas to get hit with the oatmeal.
Rose couldn't help but let out a small laugh. "I'm so sorry about that, Castiel." She said. "Daniel, we don't throw our food at guests!"
She pulled out a roll of paper towels and began helping Cas clean up the mess that was covering him.
Once she'd gotten him as clean as she could, she finally asked, "Would you like something to eat or drink?"
"Um...no thanks. I need to talk to you about something important."
Rose ushered her children outside to play with the other pups then sat down at the table, gesturing for Cas to sit. He then launched into his tale, telling her about what he'd done for the Winchesters, being the one who kidnapped her, and explaining how he thought of the boys as his brothers.
He expected her to be angry with him after his confession.
Instead, when she spoke, her voice was gentle and understanding. "I know how you feel. When I was a pup, my pack was slaughtered. That was the day I met Adam and he became like a big brother to me. I couldn't imagine losing someone I've been so close to.
"I will say this, though: if they can't accept you for the way you are, they are not your real family. Here, you have the chance to start over, to get a new family, maybe even find your true mate like I did. If the Winchesters feel for you what you do for them, they will come back for you. Until then, you can consider us your family."
Cas smiled. "Thank you. I...didn't expect you to be so...accepting of what I'd done."
"Oh don't get it wrong. I am mad about being kidnapped, especially after what happened with Nimueh. However, I see no reason to dwell on the past. We all make mistakes. It's learning from them that makes us stronger."
A relieved smile washed over Cas' face. Right at that moment, they heard a commotion outside. Glancing at one another, they rushed outside to see Merlin dragging Lea behind him by her long blond hair.
    "Uh oh." Rose thought.
Both her and Cas followed after to see what was going on. When they finally reached Merlin, he was already discussing the situation with Adam.
"She was having sex with not just one but two humans. That cannot be tolerated."
Adam gave Lea a once over. "He's right. Sex with humans is an act that has been banned for some years now. You knew the rules when you joined his pack." He turned to Merlin. "If you are to punish her, do it quietly and in the back so the neighbors don't see it. They'll think we're part of some weird cult otherwise."
    Merlin nodded.
A few minutes later, Lea was carried to the back of the farm and tied to two separate posts. She was given twenty five lashes then sent to Gaius to be healed.
Rose couldn't help but narrow her eyes in suspicion when she saw how close Elisa stood next to Merlin after the proceedings as she tried to chat with him.
The final straw came when Elisa began touching Merlin's chest.
Getting jealous, Rose rushed over and stood by her mate's side, tilting her head to one side to reveal her mating bite to him.
He happily began to lick it, calming under her presence. Growling a bit, he picked her up in his arms, and said, "I need you...right now."
As he carried her away, she shot Elisa a look that plainly warned to stay away from her mate. Elisa fumed in silence after that.
