Chapter 36: The Truth is Revealed

                          Notes:
    A routine hunt causes Castiel's secret to be revealed.
Warnings: hunting of wolves/werewolves, smut, kidnapping, ambush, minor character deaths

    Dean grunted as he sliced a knife through yet another were. Another one tried to attack him from the back, leaping at him, but was stopped by a quick slice from Sam, taking the thing's head clean off.
    After that, what was left of them turned tail and ran. The boys stood there for a second, contemplating if chasing after them was a good idea but, instead, decided to just let them go...for now. They could always find them later if they tried another stunt like they pulled earlier.
    The pair of brothers sat down amidst the carnage and began cleaning up their blades as they sat side by side.
    "That was a rough one!" Sam observed. Dean merely grunted in reply, shrugging. Sam let out a nervous laugh. "I say we take a break for awhile. I'm tired." Dean still didn't reply. "For God's sakes, Dean, talk to me! You've been more of a dick lately! Ever since what happened with that one pack--!"
    "Cuz they were dicks, ok?!" Dean shouted back. "I can't believe you took their side in all this! Fucking werewolves!"
    "That girl was innocent! What did you want me to do?!"
    Dean pointed an accusatory finger at his brother. "They were NOT innocent and we are NOT having this conversation!"
    Sam was about to shoot back a reply when both boys heard a sudden noise. They turned at the same time to find a young girl whimpering in a corner.
    The girl was a petite little thing with platinum blond hair, big innocent doe eyes, and an unusually curvy body for someone so tiny. She wore a simple ripped tank top and jeans, cuts covering one arm, a frightened expression on her face.
    The boys got up from their spots on the floor and slowly approached her. "You ok, sweetheart?" Dean asked in a gentle tone of voice.
    "Who are you?" The girl asked, panic lacing her voice.
    "I'm Dean Winchester. This is my brother, Sammy." Sam waved to the girl. "Who are you?"
    "Isabelle. My friends call me Izzy. What were those things that attacked me?"
    Dean looked to Sam who shrugged. Clearing his throat, he announced, "Don't worry about it. They won't be hurting you again."
    Izzy looked up at Dean, her expression vulnerable. "Promise?"
    "Promise. You have nothing to worry about."
    "Can I come with you?" Izzy asked, a sudden hopeful smile spreading across her face.
    Sam and Dean looked at each other, having one of their "telepathic conversations". "Sure." They finally agreed.
    All of a sudden, Castiel came bursting from the back room. "Sam, Dean, I got what of them I could. The rest disappeared."
    "Good job." Dean said, a smile on his face as he put a hand on Cas' shoulder. He gestured to Izzy. "We also found her. I think those weres must've been holding her hostage."
   Cas narrowed his eyes suspiciously at the girl. Lifting his nose in the air, he tested her scent. She was undeniably human although there was a strong scent of several wolves on her. Possibly from being around all those other weres, he reasoned.
    "Possibly." He mused. "We need to hurry and get her out here then."
    "C'mon, sweetheart." Dean said with his trademark smile. "Let's get you out of here."
    The group then left.
                             * * * * *
    Sometime later, the group made it to their current hideout. It wasn't much, just a small abandoned house a ways from the city so no one could spot it and cause unwanted trouble.
    After Dean pulled up through the unkempt lawn and parked the car, he turned his attention back to Izzy. "Not to worry, sweetheart. You're in good hands."
    Izzy nodded, staring into Dean's eyes with a vulnerable look.
    Cas cleared his throat, a little uncomfortable. "I'm gonna go find those other weres. Keep her safe."
    Dean gave him a curt nod. "Be careful, Cas."
    "I always am." Cas answered before he got out the car and began to walk back in the direction they'd come.
    Sam, Dean, and Izzy got out the car and made their way to the house where the boys unlocked it and the three of them stepped inside.
                             * * * * *
    After showing Izzy around, they left her so she could take a shower and get changed.
   Sam and Dean then sat at the table in the kitchen and discussed what had happened.
    "What do you think those werewolves wanted with a regular human girl?" Sam asked, confusion clearly written on his face.
    "I have no idea, Sammy. Maybe they were keeping her around to run errands, act as bait, or, I don't know, they were gonna bite her or something. All I know is this proves what I've been saying all along. Werewolves are evil."
     Sam wanted to argue that not all weres were bad but there was no point. He knew that he didn't know Rose well and it was entirely possible she was a monster like the rest. Yet, somehow he doubted it. He honestly just didn't know what to think.
    So he just bit back the argument he would've made and instead asked, "Do you think she'll be ok?"
    Dean sighed. "If she's strong, she'll be alright. We'll just need to keep an eye on her for now."
    They talked a little longer, throwing around suggestions for what those weres might've been up to and why they had kidnapped Izzy.
    Eventually, both of them decided to head to bed for the night and went off to their own rooms.
   When Dean got to his room, he found a sight he wasn't expecting: Izzy was sitting on his bed, wearing nothing but an open robe, some of her platinum blonde hair covering one half of her face, staring at him with those big doe-like eyes of hers.
    "Uh..." He said, losing his train of thought as she sent him a seductive smile. "What...?"
    Her smile widened. "Well, I was thinking...you saved my life and I'd like to repay you."
    "You don't have to do that, sweetheart." He whispered.
    "But I want to. Please?" She begged.
    Dean muttered a low curse and just gave in.
                            * * * * *
    Later that night, Dean was awoken by the sound of Izzy screaming and glass being broken. He jumped out of bed and quickly threw on some clothes as he began running around the place, calling out, "Izzy? Sam?!"
    At that moment, Sam came crashing from another part of the house. "Dean!" He shouted back.
    "What the hell just happened?!" Dean shouted.
    "They came back!" Sam shouted back. "They took her."
    "Well then, we're gonna go get her and gank some werewolves in the process." Dean replied.
    With that, the pair got in the car and headed down the road.
                           * * * * *
    They'd somehow managed to track the werewolves down to a house in the middle of nowhere, about 15 to 20 miles away.
    Dean drove the car around the back and groaned as he left his 50th voicemail to Cas. "Cas, c'mon man! This is like the 50th message I've sent you! We need help!"
    Hanging up, the boys grabbed their weapons and quietly entered the house. They began searching the place from top to bottom but found nothing.
    Finally, they entered the basement. A single light bulb was swinging from the ceiling, casting a dim lighting upon Izzy, who was handcuffed to a pole.
    "Izzy!" Dean shouted.
    She looked up and a sweet smile covered her face. "Oh, thank goodness you boys came! I was so scared that you wouldn't find me! I told them you were too smart to come here!" To their surprise, she snapped off the handcuffs, standing up straight. "Guess I was wrong."
     That's when a pair of burly men entered the room. Within seconds, they disarmed the boys and tied them to the pole Izzy had just been pretending to be handcuffed to.
    Izzy clicked her tongue as she pointed their own guns at them. "So...this is the famous Winchester brothers? Gotta say I'm very disappointed. All these years I've heard stories about you, how you're the most feared hunters in history. You're so deadly, dangerous, and smart."
    She scoffed. "It's ridiculous how easy it was to fool you. All I did was bat my eyes and you believed every word I said. And you, Dean, were the biggest disappointment. You weren't even that good in bed."
    "Yea, well, you weren't exactly a ray of sunshine either, bitch!" Dean shouted.
    Izzy scoffed again. "You two are a pathetic disappointment! You don't even know that your friend is a were himself and a powerful one too."
    "Our friend?" The boy asked.
    "Y'know kinda tall, black hair, blue eyes, wears a trenchcoat?"
    "Hey! Don't you dare!" Dean shouted. "Cas isn't one of them! He'd never throw himself in with them!"
    Izzy shrugged and Sam finally spoke up, "So what's in it for you? You don't seem like a werewolf."
    A smirk spread over the blond's face. "Not yet anyway. The master is gonna make me a werewolf and then we're gonna rule the world together."
    It was the boys' turn to scoff. "Good luck with that."
    Izzy stood up to her full height. "It doesn't matter what you think. You'll be gonzo soon. Bye."
    She turned and left the room, leaving the boys to their fate as the two huge men moved toward them with malicious intent.
                           * * * * *
    Izzy smirked as she entered her master's study. "I did as you asked, sir. I got the Winchester's here."
    "Very good." He replied before turning toward her. "You've done well, my dear."
    "So...about my reward...."
    "Ah...about that...y'see I can't make you one of us."
    Izzy's smirk faded. "Why not?"
    "Because I don't have the ability, those who do are dead or missing or I simply don't trust them, it's pointless, I don't want to...take your pick, sweetness."
    Izzy glared in hatred and rage at the old man who made her work her ass off for two years to get to her goal and was now pulling it away. "YOU BASTARD! YOU BETTER MAKE ME A WERE!"
    The old man exhaled sharply. "Sorry, my dear. That's not gonna happen."
    "Then I'll set the boys free and they'll kill you!"
    He chuckled. "Unfortunately for you, I'd already prepared for this sort of reaction. Mako!" A large man with scars down one side of his face appeared in the doorway. "Do away with this filth!"
    Mako grinned as he dragged Izzy away. Seconds later, her death scream could be heard throughout the building.
                             * * * * *
    Just as it seemed the boys were done for, a large wolf suddenly appeared out of nowhere and attacked the other two. This wolf was larger than the others, with black fur, silver on his paws, face, tail, and the tips of his ears and large feathery black wings.
    The fight was over before it started. The newcomer ripped one of the wolves throats out. The other tried to attack him and the newcomer broke his neck.
    The wolf then turned his attention to the boys. He approached them and broke the ropes that were holding them. Then he turned and raced out the room.
   The boys grabbed their guns and followed. Within minutes, between the three, they destroyed the weres in the house before making it out into the night.
    They hunched over then, panting. Dean turned his attention to the wolf. "Cas?"
    The wolf looked at him with sad blue eyes before he shifted into the familiar figure of their friend. "Yes, it's me."
    "Why didn't you tell us?" Sam asked, surprise coloring his features and words.
    Cas sighed. "You made up your mind that weres are evil. I thought if I told you I was one of them, you'd kill me or...well...I don't know what I thought.  All I know is that you two are the closest thing to family I've had in a long time. I couldn't stand to lose your trust."
    He waited for them to say something. Several long seconds passed. Then...
    "Get out." Dean said in an utterly calm tone of voice.
    "Dean--" Cas said, trying to move closer.
     Dean jerked away. "No! Get the hell away! Run off to whatever other weres you're working with and never come back! And you fucking pray that we don't ever see you again because if we do, you're dead."
     Cas nodded, grimly. Turning, he shifted back into his wolf and disappeared into the night, leaving the boys with their thoughts.
