Notes:
   During the full moon, they find a new threat in the form of another Alpha. Adam attempts to flirt.

  Night fell on Whispering Pines and Adam decided to go check on the Emrys pack.
   He entered Merlin's house and began looking around for Merlin. He quietly slipped to the back, only to find Merlin on top of Rose, thrusting into her with enough speed and force he was surprised the Alpha didn't break the bed and, judging by the noises coming from Rose's lips, she was definitely enjoying it.
   As he was about to turn to head back out the door, Merlin looked up. 
   "Yes?"
   It was hard to miss the growl in the Alpha's voice, not that Adam could blame him. He cleared his throat.
   "Sorry for barging in, Alpha Merlin. I just thought I'd let you know that the full moon will be rising soon and the other packs will be coming to celebrate."
   Rose's eyes widened in excitement.
   "Will you be cooking?"
   "My famous barbecue."
   Rose cheered and Merlin chuckled at her antics. "We'll be there momentarily."
   Adam smiled. "Alright. See you soon."
   He left the house and told each member of the Emrys pack of the night's plans. Afterwards, he headed outside to begin cooking.
                        * * * * *
    By the time that Rose and Merlin arrived, the food was cooked, a large bonfire was lit, and the full moon had almost completely risen in the sky. They ran out to the field to find their pack was already out and about, along with the Pierson pack.
    Everyone was chatting and laughing, enjoying themselves when Rose and Merlin walked over, hand in hand. They took a seat across from Adam and accepted some food, digging in, and Merlin found to his surprise, that it was quite delicious!
    They began chatting for a time and Merlin got more comfortable with Adam, finding that he was a nice guy and quite easy to get along with.
    After awhile, Rose turned to Merlin and said, "Imma go running now since I haven't had the chance in awhile."
    Merlin smiled at her and kissed her nose. "Alright, love. I'll join you in a bit."
    Rose planted a kiss on his lips then got up, shifted, and ran into the woods. Merlin watched her trot off, distracted for a moment by her delectable backside.
    Adam spoke up. "You're lucky, y'know?" Merlin looked up sharply at the other Alpha. "Rose is special, always has been."
    "Have you ever been mated before?" Merlin asked, genuine curiosity coloring his features.
    "Once. She died a long time ago."
    "I'm guessing she wasn't your true mate since you're still alive." Merlin stated plainly, sympathy etched into his words.
    "No but I loved her. After that...I dunno. I guess I just didn't want to mate again. Maybe if I find my true mate. Who knows?" Merlin nodded, looking off into the distance. "What's it like?" Adam asked. "Having a true mate I mean."
    Merlin thought about that. "It's difficult to explain honestly. Basically, you're connected to that were. You feel things that they feel and vice versa. You share an unbreakable bond. The love you feel for that were is absolute. It's sort like they're your missing piece. Like you complete each other somehow."
    Adam thought about that. "I wish I could find my true mate but I'm afraid I'm too old."
    "Untrue." Merlin said. "It's been believed that true mates are rare yet I have found mine, my sister and brother found theirs as did my uncle, and quite a few of our Alphas have as well."
   Adam looked surprised. "I think this the most true mates I've seen at once. Over the years I've seen a few here and there but they have always been few and far between. I wonder if your pack having so many means something." He pondered.
    Merlin shrugged. "Maybe so. I think imma go for a run now."
    With that, Merlin shifted and took off into the woods.
    Adam sat in his seat and watched as the rest of Merlin's pack followed him. From the woods, he saw the Sherwood pack joining in. He turned towards his own and gestured that they could join. In excitement, they shifted and took off.
   Very few weres remained.
   The Gama healer from Merlin's pack passed by him, saying, "I don't want to run anymore after that hellish trip!" Then he shifted and headed towards his house.
   Adam chuckled and noticed a young woman sitting alone. She must've been from the Emrys pack because he didn't recognize her. She was quite beautiful, though, with her dark hair, pale body, rosy lips, and gorgeous blue-green eyes.
    Something was pulling him to go talk to her. He walked over to where the young woman was sitting.
    "Hey, can I join you?" He asked politely.
    A small smile appeared on her face. "Sure."
    "I'm Adam." He introduced himself. "Adam Pierson."
    "Evelyn." She said, taking his offered hand.
    "So, Evelyn, where are you from?"
    "Well I've been with Merlin's pack ever since I was a pup. He saved my life back then."
    Adam smiled. "Why don't you go running with your family?"
    "There's no point." Evelyn said sadly.
    "Why?"
    "Because I can't." She buried her face in her lap, hoping he'd change the subject.
    "Of course you can. You just shift and--"
    "I can't shift!" Evelyn shouted, looking up sharply. "I lost that ability a long time ago!"
    With that, she stood, turned, and raced off, leaving Adam feeling very confused.

     Rose was racing through the woods, enjoying the feeling of the wind rushing through her fur. That's when she sensed a large wolf next to her. The wolf was somewhat larger than Merlin, with silvery white fur and beautiful sky blue eyes.
    She stopped in her tracks and he followed suit, trotting over to her. They shifted and she saw that the were was a tall man with platinum blonde hair, those sky blue eyes, and was lean like Merlin. He stared at her with a lustful expression on his face.
    "Hello, gorgeous~" he purred, making Rose start to feel uncomfortable and she backed up a bit. He smelled like rotten eggs and old gym socks. "No need to run off! C'mere!" He growled that last word in the Alpha voice, making her immediately submit.
    That's when Merlin came crashing through the trees in wolf form. Seeing the Alpha, how close he was to his mate, and the uncomfortable look on her face, he rushed at the other Alpha, growling a warning.
    The blond Alpha shifted just in time and they began fighting, tearing into each other. Rose started to worry, wondering if she should run to find Adam or someone else to intervene but she didn't even have to because, at that moment, the largest and most muscular wolf she'd ever seen came bursting through the trees. Adam.
    He immediately separated the two Alphas, barking an order to them, and the three Alphas shifted to human.
    "What is the meaning of attacking one another this way?!"
    "He touched my mate!" Merlin shouted.
    Rose moved over to Merlin and bared her neck to him. He took what she'd offered, licking and nipping over the mating bite, making her surrender to him.
    Adam cleared his throat. "Merlin, this Alpha you attacked is Charles Dalimar, the Alpha of the Dalimar pack."
    Charles looked extremely pleased with himself.
    "Charles, this is Merlin Emrys, the Alpha of the Emrys pack." They nodded at one another. "And this is Rose, Merlin's mate, and one of the Omegas under my protection. She is my honorary sister and I'll thank you not to mess with her. Do not touch her. And if you ever make her uncomfortable again, you will have to leave this area forever. Am I understood?"
    Charles looked at Rose with a mischievous grin. "I understand. My apologies, Omega Vixen. Goodnight!" With that, he shifted and raced into the woods.
    Adam let out a huff of air as he turned to Merlin. "C'mon you two. Back to the farm."
    The three weres shifted and ran back. Once back at the bonfire, Adam turned his attention to Merlin the second they shifted. "What did you think you were doing?! Trying to start a war?!"
    "I didn't know who he was but it doesn't matter!" Merlin shouted. "He touched my mate and I had every right!"
    "Yes." Adam agreed. "You did. But you must be careful. There are plenty in his pack that will believe what he did was just. If you worry about him touching your mate, don't let her wander off on her own. And don't go anywhere near that house. Just stay away from his pack of you can."
    Merlin realized something. "Is he threatening your pack?"
    "He has in the past and I dare not fight him. His second is a very powerful endowed. Even should he fall, she would rise to power. They are a powerful pack that has existed for centuries. I dare not mess with them. Not when I have so many pups in this pack, not to mention the humans here I am charged with guarding. I am too old to fight. Just leave them be."
    Merlin thought about that. "I'll keep my head down." He promised.
    "Good."
    That's when they heard a sudden scream and Seth and Will came tearing from the woods, shouting, "Help! They're killing me!"
    They rushed over to see the two rolling around in the grass, trying to rid themselves of a bunch of bees that were stinging them.
    "You idiots!" Lea said, running over to help them when they both got up and ran off, with her chasing them, screaming, "Get your bubble butts back here!"
   Rose burst out laughing at that. Merlin smiled and Adam just rolled his eyes, an amused smile playing on his lips.
    Merlin took Rose in his arms then and rushed her back home. Laying her in their bed, he examined her carefully. "Did he hurt you in any way?"
    "No. He just made me uncomfortable." Rose explained.
    The way his precious mate was laying there, her hair spread out over the pillows, with that innocent look on her face, made him crazy with lust.
    Snapping his fingers, they were both naked. "You're mine." Merlin reminded her. "No one else can see you like this. Understand?"
   Rose smiled. "Of course. I want you, Merl, only you."
    And if they spent most of the night after that fucking, she just blamed it on the full moon.
