"Where you going?" Monet asked once we reached her, Cane was standing next to her I saw him looking at our hands

"Um-"

"I have to work early in the morning." Michael cut me off

"So, what does that got to do with Lauren?" She said

"We didn't plan on staying long anyway I drove." He said

"So leave. We'll make sure she gets home. We are her family." She said staring him down, I felt him squeeze my hand I held back a wince

"Well, that's good." He lied

"I'll walk him out and be right back then." I said forcing a smile and he started walking we barely reached the end of the driveway before he started

"Didn't I tell you not to embarrass me?" He snapped

"You did that on your own." I said and he grabbed me slammed me hard into Dru's truck I'm surprised the alarm didn't go off

"You say anything to these people and your boy will be locked up before breakfast,"

"These people are my family, and you're going to stop talking down about them."

"You're, bold tonight I see, I hope you have the same attitude when I see you tomorrow." He said then leaned in to kiss me and I turned my head. He looked down at me then walked away. I sighed as I felt my head start to hurt, I've been getting a lot lately

"We need to talk." Mo said walking over to me

"How long you been there?"

"Why does that matter?"

"It don't. I'm sorry I shouldn't have brought him."

"Not if he didn't want to be here, that's all I got from him."

"I know he won't bring him back."

"Why are you dealing with him if you so unhappy?"

"It's not that simple Mo."

"Well explain it to me then." She said

"Where's Cane?" I heard I turned my head

Rel walked back up to the house with his hand in his pocket.

"Go home boy you don't want these problems." Mo told him

"NAW CANE BRING YOUR ASS OUT HERE!"

"Rel you better take your ass home." I told him and he pulled his gun and pointed it at me

"Rel you better think about this." Mo said

"CANE I GOT YO BITCH, NIGGA! NOW STOP HIDING!"

"He ain't hiding he right there about to blow your muthafucking head off." Mo said as Cane came from behind the cars pointing a sawed off at him. Rel stepped closer to me and I felt a little nervous. Just then a cop car pulled up, and the guns went away.

"This ain't over nigga." Cane said to him and he walked away

"Cane take her inside, I'll handle this." She told him then walked over to car. Cane looked at me then back at the cop that Mo was now talking to. I knew that look on Cane's face, I didn't want no parts of it so I went inside. I went upstairs, into the room I used to share with Diana and sat on the bed. I could feel my back starting to hurt from when he pushed me into the car. I stood up and pulled up my shirt in the mirror the first thing I saw was my discolored ribs, I turned around to see a decent sized bruise already forming in the middle of my back. Out the corner of my eye I saw someone at the door, I turned to see Diana I quickly let my shirt fall.

"Hey." I said

"What happened to your back?" She asked

"I had to do a rotation in the psych ward this week, this guy was out of it he snapped I'm ok." I lied

"Hmm I thought you were done with clinicals?"

"No, the clinicals. are basically what the finals are." I told her and I could tell she didn't believe me

"So, where's Tariq?" I asked changing the subject, she smiled

"He had to get back to campus, he actually cares about school unlike Zeke." She said and I smiled

"Well, that's a good thing. Do you like him?" I asked and she rolled her eyes

"I mean he's cute, and smart, and he smells good." She added and I laughed

"D you are sprung." I said with a smile

"Until Cane finds out." She said shaking her head, overprotective would be an understatement when it comes to Cane

"Girl I told you, you need to stop telling him everything. Look just listen to me avoiding questions from Cane is easy I'll teach you." I told her and she laughed

We sat in the room talking just catching up, until it was about 1 and I descried to just stay the night. When I woke up I had really bad pain in my stomach, I got out the bed and went into the bathroom and I emptied my stomach into the toilet

"Damn you forgot how to knock?" I heard I looked to see Cane poking his head outside of the shower, I was in so much pain I didn't even hear the shower when I made it in here. Before I could say anything my stomach turned and I threw up again,

"That's what your ass get for drinking so much." I heard him say I just flipped him the finger, and I heard him laugh. Once I finally felt ok, I tried to get up but I felt dizzy. Cane took my arm and helped me up

"Can you stand?" He asked and I looked at him and he looked worried

"Yeah." I said softly he let go and stepped away from me

"Well, you know where the toothbrushes and shit is at." He told me then walked out the bathroom, I didn't like him not talking to me like this. Even before we got together we were friends and I missed that.
