The Fault of Us
Katelyn's Point of View
—————————————
Rain. Rain was pouring down from they grey sky, but the odd thing was it looked like there was no clouds. Isn't it weird, how sometimes it rains, yet it looks like there's no clouds? I thought about this, while I was trudging through the forest, sword in hand, ready for any attack. Any small movement that I, nor the rain or storm, didn't make I was already in fighting position. It was just what my body was telling me to do. At this point I believed almost anything could be a threat, or something dangerous. It was windy, so my powder blue hair was flowing back a bit. Some leaves were flying, but even in this bad, stormy weather, I was determined to get to my destination. Until, I was thrown off course. My original plan, was to head to O'kasis. But now, getting back to Phoenix Drop was my only hope. Earlier, the wind made me lose my balance, and I crashed into a tree stump. I was knocked out, so I headed back, because I had lost course. Finally, I saw it. I made it back to Phoenix Drop. I made my way to the gates, and got inside. But something was wrong. Everything was silent. Not. One. Sound.
If anyone found this village, it would be crazy enough that it was silent. Not even a bird call. I started walking around, but something came to my mind as fast as the speed of light. There gone.
It was one thing to feel sad, but I was so angry and sad, that it gave me a burning feeling in my chest. The feeling you get if you lost your parents at grocery stores. But a million times worse. This was outright pain! Everyone I knew were gone. And that's hard to accept.
And it all came pouring out of me. The tears and the pain I held out half my life. The sorrow for anyone I killed. The pain I felt. Losing my parents. Losing my brothers. Losing everyone. And this. This isn't a time where you lose your parents at a store. You already lost them. There dead. The fact that all my friends left me, hurt like someone stabbed me with a knife. It hurts. I stumbled on the ground, and laid on my side, hugging my knees. Who knew, that in one day, it could change someone's life forever. One thought could ruin you. One word could kill you. But I won't let that happen to me. So it's not going to happen. And then I heard one lonely voice call my name. "K-KATELYN!?"
My head jerked towards the direction it came from, a shy dog hearing a human voice. Aphmau. "A-APHMAU?!"
We ran to each other and hugged. "W-WHAT HAPPENED?!" I questioned, frantically. "EVERYONE'S GONE!" I said, not yelling at her, but yelling in surprise ment. I saw her bloodshot, puffy eyes. She had been crying. It wasn't on purpose. One questioned answered. "W-well...w-we were threatened. U-umm S-so everyone r-ran.... A-and little S-survived...." she said. And she burst into tears.
A bit later, when she calmed down enough I asked "so how many p-people w-were left?". "6.."
6. 6 out of hundreds. 6. "W-who?" I said in a croaky voice. "G-Garroth Lucinda Z-Zoey, ummm T-Travis Brendan and L-Leona...." She said shakily. "O-ok b-but w-who threatened them?" I asked, wanting to know more about this sudden situation.
"I'm not S-sure... I wasn't t-there... " she said, looking down. I didn't want to question her further since she felt horrible so I didn't ask any more questions.
Just then, I heard 3 voices arguing. I heard Leona, Travis, and Garroth. I couldn't hear exactly what they were saying, but I heard it enough to know they were arguing. Just then I saw a glint of a head of blonde hair turn the corner. I saw Garroth, the short Leona, and Travis, the three voices I heard, arguing about what they should've done. Lucinda, Zoey, and Brendan were trudging along in the back, looking like they haven't slept in years.
Once they saw Aphmau and I they had wide eyes and smiles. Zoey's Eyes grew tears in them, and Travis's eyes glinted a deep purple, to signify his confused and happy emotions, with and awkward grin on his face.
"KATELYN APHMAU!!" Lucinda yelled and pulled us into into a hug. I felt a tingling feeling, that some of my friends survived.
Key word: some
Everyone joined the hug, but Leona just stood there. Aphmau and I never really paid to much attention to the werewolf, but she was smiling that we were there.
After are "introduction" we all traveled in a group out of Phoenix Drop, deciding that that place wasn't the safest place.
(I just thought when papyrus said "OF COURSE I KNOW WHO I KNOW! I KNOW WHO I KNOW AS MUCH AS I KNOW I KNOW WHO I KNOW!!" Ded 😂😂)
We headed out and reached the forest. We all entered cautiously, with our swords out. But all of a sudden, faster than anyone could react, Zoey's throat was cut, by someone in all black.
And just like that. Dead. Gone. Forever. And soon so would the rest of us. Death will come.
During this I didn't realize I got scared half to death. It shouldn't be that easy to kill me. Aphmau was crying, Lucinda was helping Aphmau, Travis was in his demon form. I had my firefists equipped, frozen in place. Brendan stood there shocked.
Garroth was helping Aphmau. Aaron was dead. Travis saw me, paralyzed by fear, and put his head down. He was one of the "no talk" ones. He was half demon, half human, but he doesn't like to talk about it. He is also, very strict, and bossy. But little did I know he had one weakness. Me.
