So Close Yet So Far
Hey! Sorry, this chapter took so long but family things came up, personal issues, and me being lazy.
~Percy's POV~
It's been maybe 10 minutes since I found the boat and I haven't crossed paths with those on my island. I want to pray to Hera or Aphrodite to help me but I want to make sure I'm in a secure area to do so.
I've been off trail for a good bit. I pushed back the pine tree branches to continue walking. However, I didn't see the rock that was in my way. I tripped over the rock and almost fell face first, but I stopped my fall with my arms and knees.
Ow, that hurt. My knees are probably scratched up from it. I got up and continued walking despite the sting in my knees.
After walking for a bit more I heard someone yell something but I can't understand what they're saying. Panic flooded my body and I ran in the opposite direction of the voice. As I got further away the voice started fading and I didn't slow down till it was completely gone.
I rested against a taller pine tree to catch my breath. I might as well pray to Hera while I'm here. This seems like a safe spot. I shut my eyes tight and tried to reach out to Hera.
Hera? Hera?
No answer. I need to really try. My left hand found it's way to my stomach making me smile. I need to try harder.
Hera?! Hera?!
Hm?
Hera!
Percy?
Yes! Yes, Hera it's me! I need you!
What? I'm in a meeting right now, what's wrong?
There's someone on my island! There's a boat here and I could hear people yelling!
What?! But no one knows about the island! Uh, just stay calm and stay away from them! I'll try and get you out of there as quickly as possible!
Okay, just hurry Hera.
This is really freaking me out.
~Hera's POV~
How could there be people on Percy's island? The only people who know where the island is is me and-
Aphrodite.
Who the hell did she decide to tell?! Hm, maybe I should actually see what's happening in this meeting. When I looked at the room a big Iris message was up. When did that get here? How long did I space out for?
And yes I space out during meetings because they are long, boring, and sometimes unimportant. On the Iris message was an island.
Percy's island.
I wanted to ask who we were watching but that would show I wasn't paying attention. I looked over at Aphrodite. She betrayed our whole agreement of keeping Percy hidden. I'll have a talk with her after this meeting.
I put my right hand behind my back and silently snapped my fingers. I just put Percy into my palace. I looked back at the screen and well, nothing happened. It was just the island. I looked around at the other gods and goddess and they seemed... conflicted?
I really should have paid attention to the meeting.
-6 Hours Later-
It's been six boring hours but with being immortal it goes by kinda fast. Next thing I know there is a boat that is sailing away from the island. Oh, right the whole 'no gods or goddesses can see the island or communicate with people on the island' thing.
The Iris message then zoomed into the boat and became a 'normal' Iris message but our screen was bigger. On the IM was Annabeth Chase, Pier McLean, Nico di Angelo, and none other than Jason Grace.
Zeus started, "Demigods! How did it go-"
"Did you find him?! Please, tell me, did you find my son?!" Poseidon cut him off. The sea god has been able to keep his composure during Percy's disappearance despite the fact that he looks physically older than he normally does. However, he seemed to be on the brink of tears during that sentence.
"I'm- I'm so sorry, Lord Poseidon," Chase said, looking down sadly.
McLean continued, "He wasn't there. We tried but, nothing."
"We searched the whole island and found nothing." di Angelo said, looking troubled.
"My son." Poseidon looked towards Hades.
"Brother, he has not passed."
"Then where could he be!" The sea god yelled before disappearing in a sea breeze. The smell of the ocean filling the room. The tears in his eyes were evident.
"Father, we found a cabin there. It looked to be in use but no one was there. None of the items are tied to Percy. We looked all over the island, I flew, Nico shadow traveled around, Piper even used her charmspeak when yelling! And we found nothing." Grace said before walking out of view.
"Very well, return to camp, demigods!" Zeus said in a booming voice before the Iris message disappeared. Zeus turned to Athena "Daughter, do you have any idea where Persues may be?"
"I'm sorry father but either Percy isn't even on this planet anymore or someone powerful is hiding him. I'm afraid we may have to call off the search."
"Wow wow wow! Perce has helped us out a number of times and we're just gonna stop looking for him after a few weeks?!" Apollo questioned.
"We don't have much of a choice. We have searched for him, the demigods have searched for him. Where haven't we looked?" Athena hissed.
"I know I just, feel bad," Apollo said. I don't know how close Apollo and Percy are but Apollo seems to actually feel bad.
"Then, the search for Persues is over! We have searched for him but found nothing! With that being said, this meeting is over!" Zeus thundered as he disappeared in a lightning strike. The other gods and goddesses quickly left the throne room, all except one.
Aphrodite.
We were each down to human size and she kept her eyes to the floor. I approached the goddess of love.
"Aphrodite."
She looked up at me. "Oh, heyyyyyyy, Hera." She said nervously. Aphrodite honestly sucks at lying.
"So, four demigods at a hidden island." She avoided my eyes. "I'm not beating around the bush, Aphrodite, I know you told them where to find Percy."
"Fine! I only told Jason and Annabeth. They came into the throne room looking for us and they found me. I had to tell them, Hera! I kept you out of it but they needed to know where! Jason and Percy are both hurting they just need to be together again!" Aphrodite yelled.
"We agreed not to tell anyone! Besides, if Percy wanted to see Jason he would've told us. We can't force Percy to see him." I yelled back.
"Why are you so protective over him? I care about him too but Jason will help him, they can help each other!" It was quiet for a minute before Aphrodite continued, realization on her face. "Oh, I get. Look Hera, I get that you think of Percy as your son and as a mother you want to protect him from pain but this is not the way to do it. Percy has to see Jason again." Aphrodite pleaded. Her eyes were a mix of heartache, heartbreak, and a bit of love.
"I think you're wrong." And with that, I disappeared in a cloud of mist. I arrived back at my palace and found Percy asleep on my Lshape sofa. I smiled softly. I need to move his island and get rid of Aphrodite's ties to it so she can't find him.
I promise I'll protect you, Percy.
The next chapter will probably have a BIG time skip :D
