"I'm sorry about all of my friends; they're a bit weird, I know." Jinyoung bites his lip, nervously, he probably thought I didn't want to sit with them again. He is right, but something's kicked in and now I'm suddenly too nice to say no.
"It's okay," no it's not, tell him you don't want to sit with him "I'll sit with you guys to tomorrow, the only thing I have to worry about is rampant girls bullying me like there's no tomorrow." Jinyoung laughs, ah stupid me; the plan was to say no.
"Okay then, besides Euiwoong wasn't lying when he said he'd punch someone if they did something to you." I tilt my head to the side
"But we just met, he doesn't know me that well." Jinyoung shrugs "It's just what he's like." We arrive at our class and sit down in our seats; we sit at the back of the classroom, right next to the door. We are some of the first people there, which was a change for me. I do practically nothing during breaks but somehow I end up being borderline late for everything. "This is interesting," I look at him, I wasn't quite sure what he meant "you're normally late." Mindreader, how would you notice that? "Is it because of the dating sims?" Oh yeah, that's right. That stupid dating sim I spent three years on to only get a dissatisfying result, that's why I'm always late. I pull a face,
"Only the most dissatisfying dating sim in existence, but I won't give you the details." I hear a small sigh of relief and I roll my eyes "What exactly do you achieve by getting here so early though? Like, what do you do?" Jinyoung shrugs again,
"Not much, actually. I just wait for the teacher to arrive, do my homework if I have any." He says pulling out his maths book
"Well isn't that boring." I say pulling out my phone, I unlock it and go to my endless folder of dating sims "How many do you have?" Jinyoung gasps, almost as if he's impressed with my collection "Not sure, but I've deleted the ones I've finished or I didn't like." I tap on one I downloaded recently, I hadn't started this one yet. I tap on Jinyoung's shoulder
"What should I name my character?" I show him the screen with a predesigned female character on it
"Uh, why not just name her Mijoo?" I shake my head vigorously "I never name my characters Mijoo, something else." His eyebrows knit together
"Okay..." he mumbles "Um, I really don't know, Yoona?"
"It'll do." I type in the name into the little box and press enter, fantasy-like music fills the room earning me stares from the other people already here. I sheepishly turn the sound down and immerse myself into the game.
The teacher claps his hands loudly to make sure everyone was paying attention, "He better not be about to announce a test." The girl in front of me whispers
"Everyone, you have a test next week so please study for it accordingly. Thank you, you may now go to lunch." The entire class let out noises of disgust
"Really?" Jinyoung sighs, and I nod "Yeah, why aren't you good at this subject?" He nods
"It my worst subject, what about you?" I ponder it for a second, my grades overall are really bad. I'm one of the lowest ranked people in the school,
"This class is my best class, but it doesn't mean much since I'm really stupid." Jinyoung stares at me ashamedly "What? I'm not smart okay? Now can we go to lunch, your friends must be waiting for us - or rather you." He nods and stands up
"I need to go and buy lunch today, do you remember where the table we sat at earlier is?"
"Uh..." I'm not entirely sure what to say. Do I say yes and then somehow get lost or do I say no and waste his time? "Oh, Woojin!" He suddenly shouts really loudly and I look up ahead of us and notice one of the boys from earlier. Woojin turns towards us and raises his eyebrows as if to ask 'what is it?'. Jinyoung runs towards him leaving me to catch up "Do you think you could take Mijoo to our table? I need to buy lunch and I don't think she remembers where it is." Woojin nods
"Sure, why not?"
"Thanks, I'll see you guys later." He dashes off down the hall to try and get to the lunch line before it gets too big.
"Come with me, I'll take you to our table." He beckons me to walk with him. Again, this feels like a harem. Spend your time with one attractive boy and then move onto the next one, I shiver at the thought. The walk itself was a wordless exchange right up until we got to the table.
"Oh, hey!" I'm immediately greeted "You decided to stay, that's good. Where's Jinyoung? Did he go home? Sit down here Mijoo, I saved you a spot." Daehwi, and all his excitement intact. He shuffles over from his seat to the next one and gestures for me to sit down
"Where am I supposed to sit now, Daehwi? And no, Jinyoung's just getting food." Daehwi lets out a laugh, so pure.
"Jut sit come around and sit on the other side of me." He shoves Jihoon to the side "Move over." Jihoon looks at him, a little offend and then moves over closer to Hyungseob.
"Where are Jinyoung and Guanlin going to sit?" Looking at the table, there were no extra chairs "Huh? Did someone steal a chair or something? Usually we have an extra chair, we're missing two." Woojin flicks his hand in the direction of a girl filled table
"They're over there, they probably took them for a reason. Something to do with Mijoo and their jealousy. How annoying." He mutters, everyone looks over at the table except me; I have better things to do, like eating the rest of that bento box.
Guanlin arrives slightly red faced and somewhat out of breath "Hello, I just...had...sport." The whole sentence came out rather robotically, as if he was puffed out but also trying to figure out what to say. I lean towards Daehwi for a second
"How does he survive school here?" I whisper, curious
"Translator, the school hired one for him. He just has to pay a little extra per year for them." I sit back up straight "I see." Guanlin looks at the table rather confused
"You'll have to go and ask one of those girls for a chair it appears that they stole ours." Hyungseob informs him, Guanlin looks over at that table of girls behind him and his eyes widen
"How?" He asks, he looks terrified of them, the poor thing. I stand up, my food can wait "Its okay, I'll go get it for you." I say and I march over there, a little confused about where the sudden confidence came from "Excuse me," I ask them all politely, they all give me a rather grossed out look
"What?" I receive a less polite response
"May I please have a chair for Guanlin? He doesn't have anywhere to sit otherwise. A chair for Jinyoung when he comes back would be nice too." They all scoff "Why don't you just grab your stuff and leave the table so Guanlin can sit down and then when Jinyoungie gets here he can come and ask for a chair." I cringe at 'Jinyoungie', what kind of right does she have to call him that anyway?
"Jinyoung could be awhile and apparently they want me to sit with them so I'm not too sure they'll be happy if I move." At this point Woojin had had enough "Did Jinyoungie invite you?"
"I'm not sure who 'Jinyoungie' is." Woojin says from behind me, all of the girls eyes widen. I don't think any of them had spoken to him before "But Jinyoung, invited her and she's going to stay. Now, can you please give her two chairs for Guanlin and Jinyoung."
"I mean, I don't really want to give her the chairs." A girl pokes her finger into my stomach, emphasising my chubbier features. Woojin gives her a sharp look "But I'll give you the chairs." She smiles lividly at him
"That will do." He picks up one of the empty chairs and hands it to me "Go give that to Guanlin." He walks around to table to the girl who called Jinyoung 'Jinyoungie' and practically dumps her off her chair "Won't you be happy that you got to sit on the chair your darling Jinyoungie is about to sit on when he gets back." He says and carries the chair back to the table placing it down next to my chair and then making his way around to his own
"Wasn't that a little mean, Woojin?" Daehwi nudges him and everyone nods in agreement "What? She deserves it, besides she called him Jinyoungie." He says and then mock vomits. "I don't think Jinyoung would like to know she calls him that."
"Thank you for the chair, Mijoo." Guanlin says, once again rather robotically "It's okay." I give him a small smile, gotta be nice - you feel me? Jinyoung then arrives
"Did I miss much?" He places down his food and sits down, a slight scream can be heard in the background. "You won't believe it, Jinyoung..." Hyungseob starts, ready to go into full rant mode.
"What is it?" Jinyoung now very curious
"Well, you see."
a/n;
and that's another chapter done! I'm finding it really difficult to end the chapters in this book, usually I don't write this much.
