Izuku woke up to the alarm clock he had set just a few hours before it actually rang him awake. He grunted as he swiped on his phone to turn it off, rubbing his eyes as he looked up at the ceiling with his eyes slowly getting comfortable with the dark.
He sighed as he sat up in his bed and got out, turning on the light using the lightswitch by the door after he walked over there. The light blinded his eyes for a second before he forced them open and walked to his closet. He opened the dark blue doors and found a grey shirt that smelled wearable.
He threw it on the bed with a pair of black jeans, grey socks, and a white hoody. He then slumped over to the bed and fell down in a comfortable place, slowly sitting up so he could get dressed in more than just his boxers.
He then took his clothes on slowly before he went outside of the room and walked to the kitchen. He started the coffee machine before getting some cereal. He poured the cereal in a bowl and then got the milk to complete the delicious breakfast.
He then got the cup of coffee that was finally ready and started eating his breakfast by the table in the living room. He turned on the television and sat back as he took large spoons of cereal slowly. The news was on.
'Hm, just a few months until the third years of UA graduate. Man, I remember my dream of going to UA.' He thought as he read the text passing by under the lady talking about another villain incident that Ground Zero and his mentor, All Might, had taken care of.
They showed a picture of All Might and Ground Zero beside each other. The #1 hero was smiling like always, but the other hero, the worst 'hero' in the world, was giving a smile that would be considered everything from just that. Anyone who told him that was a smile, was definitely blind.
He growled lowly as he finished his cereal and walked away from the television. He grabbed the coffee and turned off the television as he made his way to the hallway where his backpack was laying against the wall and his shoes were on the floor neatly.
He grabbed the backpack and slipped on his shoes that were used just a few hours ago before he opened the door and locked it behind him. He then walked down and out of the apartment building that he had rented the smallest and nicest place perfect for him.
He walked to the station and waited for a few minutes until his train arrived. He got on, still drinking his coffee in hand as he stood in the packed train holding onto a pole in the ceiling. There he stood for the rest of the trip until he got off together with another batch of students that had joined his train like they always do.
"Midoriya!" He turned around and met eyes with a boy his age, checkered shirt under a grey hoody and a black jacket. His blue hair was badly hidden by a black beany. He had white jeans and grey sneakers with headphones around his neck.
"Wanna walk together?" He asked as he caught up with the coffee drinking teen. "Sure." The green head replied as he continued walking to school. "Man, you don't look good, huh?" The guy said, taking suspicious looks at his sleepy... friend? Yeah, he would call the green head his friend.
"No shit, idiot. How do you think I feel staying up almost all night after not being able to sleep." Midoriya replied as he gave his... companion an irritated look. "Oh, come on! Don't be so harsh." The guy said as he smiled and hit Midoriya playfully on the shoulder.
"I hate you, Spike, " Midoriya said, giving his companion the cold shoulder. "Love you too~!" Spike replied happily. Midoriya grunted.
.
The two walked inside the school grounds, parting ways since they had different classes. "See you later, man," Spike said, giving a small wave and a smile. "Get lost," Midoriya replied as he gave a shit-eating grin back before he walked away from the only thing close to a friend.
"I really hope that he meets someone able to change him," Spike said as he felt sad for his friend. He knew Midoriya's past by mistake and the green head didn't even know. "And I hope it happens soon." Spiked walked in the opposite direction and got to his class.
.
Midoriya sat in the chair in the back of the class, looking outside at the grey sky as he daydreamed away just like always. "Midoriya!" He snapped out of his dream and looked at the teacher who yelled at him.
"Is my class that boring to you?" She asked, getting some snickers from the others in the class. Midoriya gave a grunt before he sat up and replied. "The equivalent of square root 16 divided by two-thirds of twentyone times 356 is 203.4. Happy?" Midoriya replied, answering the question on the board easily to everyone's shock.
"T-That's correct." The teacher said before she gave up and continued teaching the part of the class that was actually listening. Midoriya got back to watching the sky and thought of some new lyrics to a new song.
He scribbled something down in his notebook as he said the lyrics in his mind. Suddenly, the bell rang and he jumped a little in his seat. 'Yay, lunch...' He thought, getting his backpack and notebook before he left the classroom in a hurry.
'Come on, come on, please!' He turned the corner and his prays were answered. The coffee machine stood inside the cafeteria by the walls with some coffee left inside. He almost ran over to it and took out his trusty cup before he got some coffee and sat down at a table.
The sound of the other people in the cafeteria got to his head and he tried to shut his ears. "Here, you can borrow mine." A familiar voice said as Midoriya saw a pair of headphones in front of him. He looked up to see Spike smiling at him.
He couldn't help but give a little smirk as he grabbed the headphones and put them over his ears. Oh, comfort. He took out his lunch and his notebook before he started to eat and write at the same time.
"What are you doing?" Spike asked, getting his attention as he looked up at him. "Writing. Eating." Midoriya showed him the notebook full of lyrics that Spike had already read. However, a new side had gotten the honor of having words on it.
'Three strikes but I need another antidote. So high even though I think I burned my throat. Need to silence all the words better left unsaid. I would rather be a liar than revel in the fire of a fragile mind. But it isn't mine, no. But it isn't mine.' Where does he get this? Spike read it in his head, feeling the lyrics deeply.
He nodded approvingly before he gave the notebook back. Midoriya went back to eating his lunch, drinking his beloved coffee, and writing more words that rimed in his notebook. "Hey, shithead, how's your day?" A voice from their left said as they looked over to see a boy in a dark blue shirt, black ripped jeans and black shoes with black hair on top of his head.
"What do you want, Rukawa?" Spike asked, irritated that this asshole showed up. "Shut it, smurf," Rukawa replied, wanting Midoriya. "Okay, then, what do you want, Rukawa?" Midoriya asked, taking off his headphones to hear the teen clearly.
"Grassboy acting tough, huh? Remember your place, you midget tree!" Rukawa said as he grabbed the collar of Midoriya's hoody. "I know your secrets... Deku. Don't think so highly of yourself." Rukawa dropped Midoriya down and scuffed.
"Me, you, behind the school, exactly 3 PM," Rukawa said as he left the bored green head to himself and the named smurf Spike. "Man, how do you stand him?!" Spike asked, angry at the bully that bullies just to bully. Those are the worst kind of people.
"It doesn't matter," Midoriya said as he got back to his notebook, lunch, and the coffee needed to survive. "What do you mean 'It doesn't matter'?! Of course, it does! He pesters you every day. Don't you get tired of it?" Spike asked, frustrated at Kurawa and his carefree friend.
"No bully does it just to do it," Midoriya whispered just low enough for Spike not to hear him.
.
'Yay...' Midoriya thought as he leaned on the wall of the school. The clock on his phone showing 2.58 PM. "You actually came, huh?" Rukawa said as Midoriya saw him and three other people behind him. This would get troublesome.
'I'm glad I got Spike to not come along.' Midoriya thought as he would have been more scared if Spike was there with him. "Of course," Midoriya replied as he faced the four menacing people. "How about we just get this started?" Rukawa snickered with the other people with him before they started their little brawl.
Rukawa activated his quirk and grew in height and mass. Poor guy failed the UA entrance exam because of a guy with a laser that stole the two points he missed to pass. He charged at Midoriya with the other people behind coming along as they threw Midoriya to the ground.
He huffed at the impact but didn't get up as he just let the beating take place. Eventually, Rukawa got satisfied and left the bloody boy alone. He got up weakly and limped against the wall. "Oh my god! Midoriya!" Spike shouted as he ran toward his defeated friend stood against the wall.
"I knew I should've come with you," Spike whispered as he helped Midoriya stand. "No, it would've made things worse," Midoriya replied to his friend, giving Spike a confused look. "How?" He asked as Midoriya sat down on a bench in the schoolyard.
"About what you said earlier, Echizen." Spike was shocked as it was the first time Midoriya had used his first name. "You're wrong. Rukawa doesn't bully people just to bully. He does it to help his own self-esteem. A little less than three years ago, he failed the entrance exam of UA High." Midoriya continued, making Spike follow closely.
"Therefore, when I let him beat me, he gets a feeling of superiority. You see where I'm going with this, right?" Midoriya finished, sighing as he thought of the time before that was much greater than now.
"I knew you had a sensitive side, Midoriya!" Spike said as he hit Midoriya's shoulder playfully. Midoriya flinched at the impact but gave a small smile. "I guess you're right." He whispered to himself, keeping Spike in his own world.
'Izuku Midoriya, you really are a box of chocolate, aren't you?'

I really, really, really, hope you guys enjoyed this chapter even though not much progress was made. It was meant to only rely on character development, which I think I succeeded at. After all, this writing hobby is mainly for fun and a little for practice. (I'm having an English exam on Monday, wish me good luck >_<)
