Safe and Sound

I remember the day,

The day you said you wanted to die

I seemed to take it so lightly

But that was a complete lie

The thought haunted me

Days turning into weeks

Your safety and happiness

Is all my heart seeks

As another day came by

I gently asked

Had what you said been true?

You answered calmly

Without any emotion

yes

Was this meant to be a clue?

Wondering what to do

Take it as a call for help

For which you have spoke

or

To leave it alone

as a non-serious joke

You said tonight would be the end

The end to your troubles

As the seconds go on,

My heartbeat doubles

I enter your room quickly

To see if I'm too late

Hoping to save you

Or was this just fate?

Seeing you lie in your bed

Safe and sound

This being an unconscious lie

in which I've drowned

A/N

In this poem, I implemented a snippet of a true story that happened to me. I tried to use this poem to really express the emotions I felt and the thoughts that went through my head. Just for safety purposes, if someone brings up a suicidal thought, tell someone (preferably an adult), so that this person may receive the help they need. Do this even if you think they are joking. Unfortunately, I didn't tell anyone about this and I'm just happy this situation didn't end up badly. By the way, I actually didn't go into this person's room but I have seen them for the entire year following so I know they're alright.

❤️ Thank You ❤️
