Rudy loved the holidays, you know.

Around that time of year...

He would put on his glowing red nose and greet me at his house on Akala Island...

His daughter and wife welcoming me in....

Before we went to distribute our presents.

...

I was..... His Santa.

He was....

My Rudolph.

Oh don't worry about me.

I'm all right dear.

I have a lot of presents to give out this year.

And to think I will invite all your friends, the kahunas, the Aether Foundation. basically everyone over....

For a nice slice of warm fruit-cake...

And a hot cup of elderflower cider.

Doesn't that sound nice Selene...?

Moonlight swept in through one of the only windows in the abandoned laboratory. It was a fairly cheerful night in Alola, for it was Christmas Eve. People and Pokémon alike celebrated while kids dreamt, waiting for Santa to bring them presents.

Not everyone in Alola were enjoying this merry time of year. Deep within the walls of the Aether Foundation were some of the unlucky few while upstairs music blared as the president, directors, and employees partied.

These unlucky few were Amalgamates. Results of a nasty experiment gone wrong. Causing bodies of fallen monsters to fuse into hideous creatures. The Foundation tried their best to cover them up, sealing them away in a now abandoned sector to rot away.

The air in the lab was more somber that it usually was. Many of them monsters were wishing they were spending the holidays with their friends and families. Especially Rudy.

The reindeer monster peered out the window at the distant lights coming from the islands as memories filled his mind.

He remembered seeing his daughter's gleeful face while she helped decorate the house. Or when the Dreemurs and their two kids, later on just Selene, would come over for a Christmas party. Him and Asgore's yearly tradition of playing Santa. Communal events and just the general Christmas joy.

But he wouldn't get to spend Christmas with his family this year. He wouldn't get woken up by Noelle's glee while she said "Santa's been here". He wouldn't get to see all the decorations people had put up. He wouldn't get to celebrate with his new baby.He was spending Christmas alone.

"Noelle.... I hope you are having a good Christmas without me..." Rudy mumbled, his melting ears sagging as he sniffled "I miss you...."

The Christmas lights draped around his horns glew a blue color as he began to cry. Tears and parts of his amalgamate body falling onto his battered hospital gown, reabsorbing into him once they. touched his fur.

Rudy didn't notice a melty wing being placed on his shoulder until she spoke up.

"It's ok..... I miss my family... too..." Crystal spoke.

Rudy looked beside him to see the Snowdrake. Her Vegetoid eyes showing worry.

"Alphys came by..... She left us some fruitcake and cider.... The others were worried about you..." She pushed over a slice of cake and a glass filled with cider "The others said to give these to you....".

Rudy softly smiles, taking the plate and glass.

"Thank you.... Crystal...."

The two sat there, looking out the window as the music upstairs changed to that of Silent Night. A fitting melody to describe the scene.
