Chapter 10

The rest of the school day was far from normal since this stupid falling out between Prince and I. I wish he would stop trying to father me and just be my friend. On the one hand I'm glad he cares but on the other I need him to not care.....so much. I mean if you think about it, Prince doesn't take any consideration about how I feel about him. He knows that I'm trying to be more than friends and we've already had the conversation in his room and then he just passed me off to Andre like it was a big joke to him. Meanwhile he's doing who and whatever he wants to and expects me to just take it on the chin. Now that the tables have turned he can't take it. I wonder if this is what my mom was talking to me about how men can't handle when woman start marching to their own drum. A part of me feels bad that he doesn't like me changing up my style but the pissed off part of me just wants him to get the hell over it. By the end of the day I was so overly emotional that I found myself aggressively throwing all of my books in my locker and slamming the door hard enough to scare even the meanest of kids in my entire school. At one point I heard a guy tell his friends as they had just made their way passed me "Damn who pissed in her Life cereal this morning?". Boy wouldn't you like to know. Letting out a deep breathy sigh of frustration I felt a quick tap on my shoulder. Out of the corner of my eye I can see Rachel and her stringy blonde hair being tossed over her shoulder.

"Hey there She Hulk? You're starting to freak people out. You ok?" She asked me with a smile.

At first I didn't want to talk about it but knowing my good friend she was going to pry it out of me eventually.

"No.....I'm not ok. Your toothpick cotton headed boyfriend to be is acting like I can't do what I want but he can just gallivant through the streets of Minneapolis with....whatever pugged face sea urchin looking for someone to dress them in lavish furs and drape them with diamonds and pearls someday and rub it in my face. I hope that he chokes on a chocolate bar one of these days. UGGGGGHHH HE MAKES ME SO MAD!!!!!"

Just as I finished my rant I punched my locker door as hard as I could forgetting that there were still people around to witness my wrath. Rachel was even concerned for my mental state.

"Sweetie you can't let him get this much of a rise out of you! Granted I love him dearly and hope to one day make mad passionate love to him on a nude beach with black sand-"

At this point I had to interrupt.

  "You're 15." I snuffed abruptly.

"I said one day. And don't get snippy missy I'm trying to make a point!" Rachel snapped back.

She was right. Rachel is just trying to be what a good friend should be. I shouldn't be taking my anger out on her. It should be angled towards Prince.

"I'm sorry. It's just that-" I started to say just as she raised her hand to place it on my shoulder.

"You don't have to explain. I get it. Men are just stupid. C'mon let's hit the ice cream joint. You look like you could use a scoop or two of chunky monkey to make you fee better." She exclaimed with a smile.

I shook my head in agreement. Chunky money isn't my favorite ice cream in the world but it's still chocolate. As we made our way down the hall to the front of the school I heard that familiar punk rock voice calling me from behind.

  "Hey! Rockstar Regan! Wait up!"

Me and Rachel both stopped in our tracks and turned to find the tiny framed curly headed girl bolting towards us.

"Who's that? Are you guys related? She has curls just like yours!" Rachel said.

"No we're not related. She's new to the area." I said as I watched her bounce her way towards us as she ran.

"Hey girlfriend! Ooohhh you still look just as hot now than you did this morning! Did you score the eye of any of these high testosterone guys yet?" Apples joked.

"You think she's hot now you should have saw her five minutes ago." Rachel said as she pointed at me with a grin.

Appolonia looks super confused as if Rachel was growing a second head from her neck.

"What the hell are you talking about blondie? What happed with my girl? Apples asked as she placed her right hand on my shoulder and her left on her hip.

"You don't wanna know. Trust me." I scoffed as I turned my head as one of the classroom doors flew open and Prince and his group came filing out one by one into the halls.

Appolonia looked in the same direction as me and her eyes fell onto Prince almost immediately.

"Who's the caramel cutie with the Jackson 5 fro and hazel eyes? He's a sight of pure beauty!" She exclaimed.

Rachel turned her head quickly and glared harder than I've ever seen at Appolonia.

"Watch it sister! He's spoken for!" Rachel hissed.

Appolonia was stunned to hear my best friend snap at her. It was almost unexpected that it even happened.

"Yikes! I didn't know! Don't get you angel hairs in a knot!" Apples said raising both hands in the air.

I laughed as Rachel crossed her arms over her chest and shook her head.

"Yeah well now you know. This school had plenty of guys in it. Find one that's willing and available." she said.

"Rache its ok! Prince isn't the dating type anyway. You of all people know that" I giggled as I gave my good friend a side hug.

"And why isn't he?!?!?!" She asked angrily.

"Yeah I wanna know why he aint either!" Appolonia stated.

"Lets go out to the burger joint across town and we'll pow wow about it then." I said to the two of them.

The bell rang and just as quickly as the halls filled with the student body they were just about empty.

"Well I gotta get to study hall with Peter. See ya!" I said as I turned and headed toward the main hall.

"See ya Regs!" Appolonia shouted as she waved a super big goodbye to me.

Rachel just smiled at me and walked in the opposite direction. I'm so glad that this is the last class of the day. That burger is really calling my name and I hope that you know who doesn't show up.
