Scene 14

Surprisingly Drake is not in this scene. I wanted to write more Lea stuff and having her get into a fight with Cree was too much to resist. These two have a bad history. A few years back Cree was dating a boy named Charlie, but Lea wanted him for herself and conspired to have Cree 'taken care' of. Well, ever since then the two have not exactly been friends. Plus Cree knows some deadly secrets about Lea. So that's a little back story on the two characters pasts.

So one with the story....

Reese and Cree were out at their favorite café. It was lunchtime at the Drell institute, but Reese wanted to spend as little time as possible there since their new house guest had arrived. He asked Cree to come with him, because he just didn't want to be alone right now. He sat down at their regular table feeling a little calmer. Being away from all that drama was doing him some good.

As Cree was walking back to their table after a quick stop to the ladies' room she noticed that Reese seemed a million miles away. "Hey, are you alright?" Cree asked him as she sat down.

"Sure," he said as he looked at her. She was sitting across from him and had a smile on her face. He loved it when she smiled, although she didn't do it nearly enough. "I'm here with you," he said as he took her hand. "What could be better?"

"That's better," she said, feeling a bit relieved. Changing the subject, she remarked, "So I'm starved. Why don't we order?"

"Okay," he said. "Burgers okay with you?"

"They're fine, but no onions and extra pickles," she specified. Reese already knew about her hatred for onions, but she always stated it anytime they had hamburgers or any other dish where onions were popular.

"Whatever you want," he said and got up from the table. He gave her a kiss on the cheek before going up to the counter.

Cree sat there reading one of her vampire novels when she felt someone standing over her. She looked up and saw a blonde girl about eighteen staring at her. The girl looked like she wanted to kick her ass, and Cree wasn't up to dealing with a confrontation today, not after everything Reese was dealing with.

"Where the hell is he?" the blonde asked.

"Lea, nice to see you too," Cree said sarcastically and slammed her book down on the counter. Cree stood up to meet Lea face to face, and although the girl was two years older than her, they were about the same height.

"Now, I'm going to ask you one more time," Lea said as she shot Cree's book across the diner. It hit the wall and fell to the floor.

"Is that supposed to scare me?" Cree asked and grabbed her arm. There were other patrons in the diner, but Cree didn't care. Lea Norton had made her life a living hell and the lives of her friends, and she wasn't going to take it anymore. Cree's anger was slowly rising as she squeezed hard on Lea's arm.

"Damn it, you bitch!" Lea screamed and looked into Cree's eyes. Suddenly Cree was thrown across the diner and landed on the floor by the door. Cree rose to her feet just as Reese jumped in between her and Lea, who was only a few feet away.

"Cree, don't do this," Reese said, extending his arm in the attempt of holding her back. "She's not worth it."

"Get out of my way, Reese," Cree said not taking her eyes off Lea. "I'm going to smash her face in, and I don't want you getting hurt."

"Listen to your little girlfriend, pretty boy," Lea said as she tried to get passed Reese. "This has nothing to do with you, so get out of the way so I can give this little bitch an ass whipping."

"Oh, you think so," Cree said, keeping her guard up.

"I'm not letting you do this," Reese said as he kept his position between them.

"You always do what your little boyfriend tells you," Lea said laughing. "I never took you for a submissive."

"That's it!" Cree shouted. "I'm taking you down."

"Fine with me, but you're the one going down," Lea said and waved her hand towards Reese and knocking him out of the way. He slammed into the wall hitting the window. It cracked, but he didn't go through it.

Reese was too disoriented to focus on anything as he sat on the floor from the pain of the impact. If he could he would put a stop to this right then and there, but when Cree got into this kind of state even his empathy couldn't calm her down.

Lea came at Cree this time not even using her powers. She had something to prove. She looked down at her arm to see what Cree did to her. It was only a little swollen, but it still hurt a little. It was nothing Lea couldn't handle. Cree made no motion of going after the girl which confused Lea.

"So, are you afraid, little girl?" Lea asked. "Your little powers are not good enough?"

"Hell, no," Cree said, "but I don't need my powers to kick your ass."

"Fine," Lea said. "Go ahead and try it."

Cree was the first to react, but Lea got the better of her and put her into a headlock. She had a tight grip on her, and even though they were about the same body type Lea was a bit stronger. Cree felt like she was being choked as Lea brought her to the floor.

"What's the matter?" Lea said laughing. "Living at that comfy little school made you soft?"

"No," Cree said the forced Lea off of her. She was coughing, trying hard to breathe. Lea caught her off guard and concentrated on some soiled plates that were sitting at an empty table. She aimed them right at Cree. She held up her arms to defend herself against the flying plates, but then they fell to the floor right in front of her shattering into pieces. It also made the leftover food fly up into Cree's face.

Lea was still laughing at Cree as she wiped the food particles off her face. She wiped her hands on her jeans. She looked up to see Lea reveling in her humiliation. So, this bitch was just playing with her. The no powers rules were now nullified by Lea's action and Cree was about to take matters into her own hands... literally. She placed her hands on the floor and concentrated. Suddenly the floor changed. It was no longer solid but liquefied into a straight line that was moving and heading straight towards Lea.

The older blonde girl was still laughing at how she had made a fool out of Cree that she didn't notice her impending attack. The liquefied floor reached Lea pulling her under like quicksand. She screamed as she felt herself slipping into the gooey mess. "Cree!" Lea shouted. It was Cree who was laughing now. The girl screamed again.

Cree still had her hands on the floor and liquefied part of the tiles running the line right towards Lea. All but her head and shoulders were submerged as the floor solidified around her. Cree came towards her and sat on her knees.

"Now, you managed to ruin my lunch with my boyfriend, and I want to know why?" Cree demanded to know.

"Fuck you, Cree!" Lea shouted as she struggled to get loose.

"Tell me or you're never getting out of there," Cree said.

"I'm looking for Drake," Lea said as she kept struggling.

"Why?" Cree wanted to know.

"Because he has my sister," Lea said. "He's going to kill her and me if I don't bring Drake to him."

Cree was stunned and she hardly noticed that Reese came up behind her. "Who has Jan?" Reese asked.

"I don't know, but if I don't find Drake and turn him over my sister is as good as dead."

"Where are you supposed to meet him?" Reese asked.

"The old junkyard," Lea said. "Now get me out of this."

Cree stood up and walked to the door of the diner. All the patrons that had been there had fled long ago. "Hey, Lea, you're a smart girl. Get yourself out of it."

Cree left the diner Reese following behind. He didn't want to leave things like this, but the mention of Drake's name had made him angry. Who had he pissed off so bad that they were willing to sacrifice an innocent girl just to get at him?

To Be Continued....
