I co-wrote a novel with seven other people and all I got was this dumb T-shirt.

Okay, kidding, I got eight new friends, a plethora of fun characters to write, broadened my horizons, met multiple great readers, and reaped immeasurable benefits from my time with the G.F.C. I didn't know what the hell I was doing when I replied to Volt's announcement about starting a book collab — spoiler: I still do not — but I am increasingly glad that I did every single day. We wound up with some of the best writers I know, and we made a really good novel out of it.

Unfortunately, there's not actually a T-shirt, because G.F.C. merchandise sounds like the best idea on Selino, but there's a lot of other things that make me happy that I stuck around to the end.

Speaking of the end, guess who else made it here? You! Good job!

And good job to us, because we wrote a fucking novel and filled out too many Google Forms to be healthy!

On May 15th, 2020, I had my first opportunity to talk about our book collab. I have not stopped since. So yes, let me just get it out of the way — I'm a little bit obsessed. To be fair, I think we all are.

Anyway. Is the GFC a club? A clique? A cult? A collection of cool kids co-conspiring to create crackin' content while consequently crashing into camaraderie? I sure don't know — but hey, we got a novel out of it!!!!1!1!1!!

But really. We got a novel out of it. And this author's note is cracky and weird, but I would like to make it known to the world that I am legitimately elated about this. The GFC is incredible. Honestly, full stop. I don't think what we do is even strictly universically possible, but we made it work. Thank Google God. Our beloved.

I love y'all, and I love us, and I love what we created. I love this book. And I love that we have so much left to write.

Hold on to your monorail seatbelts, dearest Almonds, because we are about to get nyoomin'.

you know, when i first posted the announcement that started all of this, i didn't expect much. i was just hoping for some internet friends, and starting a writing collab seemed like a cool way to try doing that. (like silver, i never expected this to last more than a week, shhhhh . . . )

then, against all odds, things progressed. the announcement got responses. google forms were made. more google forms were made. even more google forms were made. our abundance of google forms became our trademark. and following this incredible development, almoons happened. and almoons happening is the greatest gift to this entire moons-damned universe and everyone in it, let's be real.

so thanks to the gfc for being so amazing; the fact that we COMPLETED AN ENTIRE 120K NOVEL WITHOUT FALLING APART is totally unreal and epic. and thanks to the almonds who've stuck with us this long, you are also very epic - make sure to stick around for the rest of this dog-tier series, because we and our characters aren't done with you all yet😌 <3

Hi! It's time for me to be sentimental!!

I'm gonna be real with everyone, I didn't expect this to last a week. "*gasp* bUt SiLvEr hOw DaRe — " Yes okay I get it, but I'm very glad I was wrong alright, karma's made me addicted so I hope you're happy...

Anyway, I'm genuinely so glad I responded to Volt's announcement, because like, why wouldn't I be??? A) We wrote a novel; B) I got some Cool New Friends via the Power of Friendship (also that B looks like sunglasses face so that's fitting — ); and C) Almoons is literally the only thing on my mind anymore and it's a huge problem but like this is the most fun I've had writing anything in forever, so thank god I took the few seconds out of my day to respond.

The other members of the GFC are wonderful, you Almonds are wonderful, our characters are wonderful, wE ARE ALL WONDERFUL!! *confetti*

Look, I'm in the mcyt fandom. I'm used to screwed up timezones (looking at you daylight savings 13-hour difference). You know what I'm not used to? FINISHING A NOVEL. A 110k-word novel. In less than a year. We really just did that.

Hang on wait Hex said 120k ykw I'm leaving this in the point remains that it's very long and we actually did that sorry I'm in like a/n Genuinely Realising Magnitude shock.

And all because of Volt's KOTLC fanfics. What has the world come to.

ANYWAY I do not know what to say so thank you to all the Almonds y'all are amazing I love you and I love you too GFC this is poggers and we have better teamwork than most of our characters do.

Before Volt posted The Announcement that fateful day, I barely knew any of the GFC members. I had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into, but you know what? No regrets here. I have no idea what I'd have done without this collab to keep me occupied. Probably I would have been very very bored.

I cried when we finished writing Almoons — Ref, Silver and Cress can confirm — because we wrote a novel? I still find it hard to believe. This was over a year in the making, and we actually managed to finish it? My serotonin levels go through the roof whenever I think about it.

To the other GFC members — I love y'all? So much? You're all amazing and brilliant and talented and just all-around awesome and I'm so glad you were the ones I got to do this with. To the readers — I love you guys too, you were all so supportive and wonderful. So, uh — thank you, everyone! <3

hey kids, its your uncle charley. i know you haven't seen much of me or Jared this book but you will soon. but who needs jaredfish when we have 7 amazing coauthors and characters. i'm not going to say anything sappy and cliche like "i love you", cause miss me with that gay shit. but i would like to remind everyone that i barely know anything about the 7 strangers around me, and that you should probably send help.

jkjk, it's fine. they have candy.

but seriously, i have had so much fun with these guys and i can't wait to see what our future writing may bring us to.

yoooooo my turn.

kinda depressing that it was kotlc that brought us together but I sure am grateful that it did. everyone's so cool and talented it's truly incredible. I've gotten to talk to pretty much everyone individually and definitely everyone in group conversations. everyone has such different yet interesting personalities and somehow they all fit together to create a really awesome group.

not to mention we wrote a novel??? that's so cool??? not just any novel either: a 120k word novel. that's so crazy.

anyway, I love you all so much. you're some of the coolest people I've ever met and I appreciate you so much <3

this is already so long but it's gonna be awkward if I don't talk about the readers so here's this. you guys are awesome. all the comments are really motivating, both to me and everyone else. thank you all for reading our book and hopefully you'll get to see more of calix and me in book 2 <3
