CHAPTER 30
CHAPTER 30
I silently followed Atlas into his office. He went straight to his desk, sat down in his swivel chair, and opened his laptop. His face was serious as he started typing furiously, the sound of the keyboard keys clicking loudly.
"Is there a problem, Atlas?" I asked.
I stood in front of him, holding the clipboard with the drug shipment information for the end of the month.
"I really need to kill that motherfucker," I heard him mutter to himself.
I furrowed my brow. "Atlas? Are you okay?"
He looked up at me. "We need to attend every event or party that is related to our organization. I just wish that he's there so I can kill him."
"Is it Helios?" I asked. "I'm sure that he's there whenever we attend some event."
"Not him. It's your job to kill him. I was talking to Helios' underboss."
"Perses, am I right?"
He nodded, his eyes still fixed on his laptop.
"Yes. My hands are itching to kill him."
His expression was dark as he said that. This was the first time I've seen him so angry. I couldn't help but wonder what Perses had done to him to make him feel this way. And as far as I knew, they were supposed to be allies, belonging to the same faction in their organization.
"All you have to do is come with me to any party I attend. You'll be my escort, Hexia. You'll do your job when you see Helios. It would be better if you could kill him as soon as you got the chance so I can focus on Perses."
"Okay," I replied quickly, not daring to ask any more questions. His expression made it clear that he was in a bad mood. I handed him the clipboard, and he took it from me, gesturing for me to leave.
"Thank you. You can go now."

"Are you sure you don't need an accompany?"
I looked up to see Oceanus standing outside my room, watching me as I adjusted the small knife in my leg holster. I'd left Saf in my vanity drawer for a moment, as I was only going out for a short while.
"No, I don't. I'll just be quick. I need to buy some groceries for us," I replied while pulling down my bodycon dress after securing the holster.
"Atlas could just ask one of his men to do that. We could spar in the basement instead."
I shook my head. "I've already asked Atlas, and he agreed. We can spar tomorrow, I'm not in the mood for training right now."
He just laughed and waved at me before leaving. "Okay. Take care."
I nodded and grabbed my black tote bag. Before leaving my room, I checked myself one last time in the full-length mirror. My straight, chocolate brown hair was down, and I had on light makeup. I wore a sleeveless bodycon dress, accessorized with gold jewelry, except for my pearl earrings, to maintain a classy look despite the simplicity of my outfit.
I went straight to the elevator and pressed the button for the upper ground floor. I used Oceanus' car to go to the supermarket. I've learned how to drive a car in the five years I've been working for Atlas.
When I arrived at the supermarket, I parked in the parking lot. Unfortunately, the only available spot was at the far end, a dark area that wasn't well lit. I made sure to lock my car door before entering.
"Good morning, Ma'am," the guard greeted me as I entered.
"Good morning," I replied with a smile.
I grabbed a cart and started getting the items I needed. I was in a hurry because Atlas might have more tasks for me in his laboratory. I still needed to check Section 2 of the main hall because I didn't get to it yesterday.
While I was busy looking at the meat section, I felt like someone was watching me. Aside from the physical training, Atlas had also taught me to be aware of my surroundings. It was one of the things he taught me to keep us safe.
My phone buzzed.
From Oceanus:
Young wife, huh.
I furrowed my brow and replied.
To Oceanus:
It's 8 in the morning, Oceanus. Are you drunk? Young wife, who?
From Oceanus:
Hahahaha.
I rolled my eyes at his message. I didn't reply and put my phone back in my bag. As I continued to look around the meat section, I had a feeling that someone was still watching me.
We need to be aware of our surroundings. Because if not, our enemies might get a chance to make a move against us.
I looked around but didn't see anyone watching me—just people busy shopping for food.
After I paid for my groceries and headed to the parking lot. As I opened my car door, someone grabbed my arm and pulled me inside. The door closed automatically.
It was like my hand had a mind of its own. I grabbed the small knife from my leg holster and pointed it at the person who had pulled me in. That's when I saw who it was.
He was fair-skinned, with a strong jawline, thick eyebrows, long eyelashes, naturally pink lips, and shiny hair. His eyes, which I always noticed because they were gray, were especially striking. It was him... It was Helios.
"Hexia," the corner of his lip turned up as he said my code name. How did he know that? I knew he didn't know me because I was still Sarah when we first met.
His face was hidden by my hair like a curtain as I leaned over him. The knife at his throat is ready to strike if necessary.
"What are you doing inside my car?" I asked seriously.
It's my job to kill him. That's what Atlas' ordered.
"I'm just doing my job," his voice was cold and serious.
I could feel the tension between us inside the car. My hand trembled as it held the knife against his neck, and I realized his hand was on my lower back.
I chuckled softly and pressed the knife harder against his neck. "Doing your job?" I asked sarcastically. "Thank god that you're already here, Helios. I can kill you now."
My hand moved quickly, trying to plunge the knife into him, but he caught it. He grabbed my wrist to stop me from stabbing him. Things happened quickly. I punched him several times, but he dodged all of my attacks. I couldn't even land a scratch on him.
"Is that all you got, Hexia?" He asked me, laughing as he grabbed both of my hands.
I was facing against the backrest of the backseat, kneeling on the seat. Helios held my hands behind my back, his body pressed against mine to keep me from moving. I gasped softly as I felt the warmth of his body against mine and closed my eyes when I felt his hot breath on my ear.
"You need to train more," he teased me. "Don't worry, I'll rate you a 7 out of 10. Not too shabby for a little speed demon."
The fuck? What did he call me? Little speed demon? Is he crazy?! I was even offended by what he said. I need to train every day! I can't take this. I'm so upset right now!
It felt like my blood pressure was rising because of this jerk. I was about to blow a fuse because of what he said. I didn't know I would get so mad just from something like that.
I violently shook my head and slammed it into his face. I heard him groan softly, and his grip on my wrists loosened.
"Fuck!"
That gave me the chance to elbow him in the face. A smile involuntarily spread across my lips when I hit him. I saw a little blood trickle down his nose from what I did.
"What did you just call me?" I asked him irritably, grabbing his collar and pulling his face closer to mine.
I heard him chuckle softly and wipe the blood from his nose. "Little speed demon? Did I offend you, Hexia?" He asked me, laughing.
I was breathing heavily in front of him because of what he was saying. I could feel my blood boiling because of my anger. I thought I was only irritated with Oceanus, but it turns out Helios is now at the top of my anger list.
"I know that you worked for Atlas," he whispered softly, a mischievous smile playing on his lips. "Am I right?"
"It's not your fucking business, Helios. You'll be the death of me, I swear to God."
"Fiesty," he laughed and tried to remove my hands from his collar, but I held on tightly.
"Tell me what Atlas' true name is before I kill you."
Since he was bigger and stronger, he ended up pinning me to the backseat. I lost control of my anger and headbutted him using the back of my head, then punched him in the face.
"Fiesty right?" I asked him sarcastically.
"You'll never kill me, Hexia," he said with a mocking tone and opened my car door.
I look up at him while still glaring. He got out of the car and turned his back to me. Before he walked away completely, he looked at me over his shoulder with a mocking smile on his lips and said something that irritated me for some reason.
"It will take years, or should I say decades, before you're going to kill me, or maybe not."
That motherfucker!
