| Chapter 9: Sam & Dani. |

"Meditation is key," Sam's voice circulated me as I sat, crossed legged, with my eyes closed on the hotel room. "You have to center yourself before we can focus that same type of intention to your powers." I nodded as he spoke.
My mind was illustrating the room from scratch. The wrinkles of the bed I was sitting on, the crinkle of Sam's jeans as he paced back and forth in front of the bed. My hair dancing in the Heat from the window unit. I focused on every texture that came to mind as I began to fidget with the Promise Ring again. I felt my being relax at the thought of him.
That was my point of focus.
My mind wrapped itself around him and I felt myself exhale slowly.
"Great job." Smiled Sam through the darkness of my closed eyes. My being shifted a little as Dean faded from my mind and Sam took his place. I frowned slightly, but felt my being remaining relaxed. "Now, I want you to try something - it may be a little early for this - but I want to try it."
"What?" I asked, speaking with my eyes still shut.
"Focus on my voice," Sam voice came over me this time like a hot shower. I even found myself lifting my head to take in the heat as my mind seemed to follow his voice, his figure as he continued to speak. "I need you to try to hold yourself back."
"From what -?" I started, feeling the bed shift now and suddenly I felt that hot breath of his as he seemed to be trying to make a move. "- Sam." I attempted to push, as I felt myself forming almost a protective bubble around me, suddenly the wrinkles of the bed spread disappeared, the heat from the window unit evaporated, and I felt as if I wasn't touch anything.
"Perfect." Came Sam's voice, as I finally opened my eyes to see I was levitating off the bed.
"Holy shit." I gasped, breaking focus and collapsing to the bed. "Wow!"
"That was impressive Dani!" Smiled Sam, who I realized was standing at the end of the bed.
"Did you try to -?" I started, but Sam looked confused.
"Did I try what?" He asked, sliding his hands in his pockets.
"I felt you get close to me..." I explained, sitting up from landing on my back. "...were you trying to -?"
"Dani," He smiled, moving to the mini fridge. "I didn't get near you."
"Then what was -?" I paused, as he passed me a beer and sat down on the bed across from me, also cross his legs as we both started downing the beers.
"A desire." He elaborated. "We've talked about this already though." He smirked, glancing at the bathroom counter. "Like I said, Dean's my brother -"
"- No need to reiterate." I waved his words away. "I was there, remember?"
Sam just grinned, hesitated but then took a swig of his beer.
"What's next?" I asked, as Sam rose to grab a book off the table and returned to his spot.
"Now that you've mastered centering yourself, already," He smirked with a tone as I smiled proudly at myself. "Time to see what we can do with your abilities as far as defending yourself."
"You mean like...using it against others?" I clarified, frowning now.
"Yes." Sam answered, catching my face dropping. "What is it?"
"I don't want to hurt anyone..." I admitted, not raising my eyes, just planting them on the rim of my beer bottle. "...I never have."
"There will come a time," sighed Sam, as he slid closer to me on the bed. "Where you won't have a choice."
I felt my frown deepen, knowing he was right.
"Okay," I sighed, looking up at him - colliding gazes once more - and the gaze lingered. That familiar heat, that seemed to be different from the heat I felt with Dean, rose again. I felt my eyes flickering from eye to eye and then to parts I found I wanted my lips on. I bit my lower lip, restraining myself as Sam allowed another silent moment to hang.
"Each Demon," Sam cleared his throat and breaking the silence as he began to read form the book. "Has a special ability; Some have fire, water, air, earth, psychological -"
"- psychological?" I whispered, looking up at Sam. "What does that consist of?"
"Reading people's minds, controlling souls, controlling other elements and objects..." He trailed off, looking up rom the book. "...it's the most powerful of the abilities for Demons."
"What if I"m not a Demon?" I found myself asking.
"What else would you be?" Asked Sam, curiously closing the book.
"Maybe I'm a Demonic Hybrid." I stated, thinking out loud. "An Angelic Hybrid."
"Maybe." Sam nodded, frowning at my enthusiasm. "But it's highly unusual."
"I think at this point, everything is unusual - therefore heightening the chances for the unusual, causing it to be usual." I smirked, feeling the buzz spreading from the beer to my lips to my head. In this moment I realized it was my 6th beer, and Sam was on his 5th.
"I guess that makes sense." He giggled, earning a smile from me. Our eyes clanged together again.
"Sam," I sighed, dropping my gaze. "We can't keep doing this."
Sam frowned, as I found myself frowning too.
"We can't keep having this heat...this chemistry." I sighed out loud. "I feel what you're feeling, Sam...but there's a part of me that won't allow it because -"
"- of Dean." Sam sighed out loud looking up at me. "I get it, I have the same conflict here...that's my Brother. I wouldn't do anything to hurt him on purpose, and he feels so deeply for you."
"And - at one point - I, him." I strained for a memory, but as usual it comes in blurs. I felt a knot forming in my throat as Sam frowned at my demeanor.
"Would it be easier for me to leave you with this," He passed me the book he had been reading through as he spoke again, "and I get another room?"
"I think so." I sighed, heavily. "I can't become under the influence and lose control of this restrain." I eyed him closely as he rose and nodded, moving towards the door. I rose off the bed to follow him to the door. "But...before you go..." I frowned, catching his wrist and causing him to turn to me, almost hopeful.
I looked from one eye to the other, flashes of our steamy moment from earlier came to mind. I pressed my hand gently on his chest and frowned at the outstanding outline of his muscles through the shirt. I found a part of me almost wishing I could act on these temptations, but I was relieved I had the strength to hold myself back.
"Dani..." Sam spoke low, his voice almost grumbly as he looked down into my eyes, his eyes glistened into mine as the longing between us seemed to have grown in that moment. The heat of his body was enticing, tempting, welcoming, and I frowned down at the sudden attraction we found for each other.
I sighed heavily, "...Sam." I looked up into his eyes and pressed my lips on his cheek. "Thank you."
He nodded, clenching his jaw and pulling the door open and closing it fast, leaving me to dwell on what could have been as I moved back into the room and sighed, dropping down on the bed. Visions of imaginary intimacy came through my mind as I beamed at the hotel room door, almost wishing for him to come back through it.
He never did.
I frowned at the thought of Dean, longing for his presence as I slammed myself back onto my back and closed my eyes, focusing on Dean, only for an image to come to mind, that must have been real time - because it was just two people lying naked in bed:
Dean and Sierra.
