| Chapter 6: Suspicion. |

"There you guys are!" Chimed Sierra, as she rose to her feet, and I just looked up from my laptop, and almost did a double take ad the change in demeanor in Dani. "Where have you guys been?"

"Working out." Dani answered, avoiding my eyes as Sam dropped his gym bag.

"What's going on?" He asked, leaning over the table to peer at the laptop screen.

"There's been a clear out in the next state over," I sighed, finally pulling my eyes from Dani who disappeared into the bathroom. "There's been a lot of people moving out abruptly from some houses due to 'strange activity.'"

"Hauntings?" Sam suggested, dropping slowly into the chair next to me.

"Possibly," I sighed, typing more into the laptop and pulling up the town's layout, showing the perimeter and city limits. "Or a gas leak, poor construction...it could be anything..." I trailed off, leaning back into my chair and allowing Sam to pull the laptop over to him as Sierra dropped back down into he chair on the other side of me. "There really ain't no telling until we go down there and check it out."

"We?" Sierra crossed her arms across her chest.

"Yes, we." I repeated, leaning onto the table. "There's four hunters here, between the four of us we can figure it out."

"I don't think all of us should go." Sam stated, out of nowhere after the tapping of the keyboard stopped. This statement earned curious eyes from both myself and Sierra as she, too, leaned onto the table allowing her elbows to hold herself up. "What?" He asked, looking from one face to the other.

"What do you mean?" Sierra asked, before I could get it out of my mouth.

"All I'm saying," Sam sighed, pushing the laptop away from him to be centered on the table. "Is that Dani's gone through a lot and probably shouldn't be placed in a position to investigate just yet, or even be put in a position to defend...humans."

"What are you getting at there, Sammie?" I asked, feeling myself growing suspicious of his sudden advocation.

"Cas's theory is that she's been killed, more than once within he last year..." Sam stated, glancing around the room and quickly asked, "...anyone seen him this morning?"

"He had something to take care of." Sierra stated, not breaking eye contact.

"Go on..." I gestured, eyeing him slowly.

"...all I'm saying is that she has a lot of shit going through her head, even with the lack of memories..." Sam sighed, leaning onto the table now. "...maybe someone that knows how it feels to be the pawn in a tug of war between Angels and Demons, should try and teach her some control."

"Control?" I echoed, glaring at the flash of a smile that came across his lips. "Are you saying you want to stay back and Dani and try to teach her some practices to control this new being she's become?"

"Yes, exactly." Sam stated, leaning back into the chair. "All I'm saying is that I've been there, and as far as I know, Sierra -?" Sam gestured as Sierra shook her head, meaning she's never dealt with it before. " - and Dean...?"

"...I've been to Hell and back, but I certainly haven't had Demon blood..." I trailed off in thought for a moment. "...as far as I know anyway..." I felt my face harden at the idea of leaving Dani. "...I don't know about this, Sammie. Maybe field work is what she needs -"

"- maybe let her decide for herself." Chimed Dani, emerging from the bathroom in nothing but a towel wrapped around her chest and a towel on her head. "Field work vs learning how to control myself...that would -" She paused, suddenly.

She let go of the towel around her chest, but it didn't fall - it remained.

"Dani?" Sierra rose from her chair, concerned. "Are you okay?"

We watched in horror as Dani's eyes started blinking rapidly and her eyes rolled back into the back of her head as she collapsed.

"Fuck!" Yelped Sam.

"Shit." I yelled, bolting to her side as Sam and I picked her up together and placed on the bed as her entire body began to shiver, physically as hard as I ever seen anyone shake. "Dani, can you hear me?"

She continued shaking, almost convulsing.

"Jesus Christ." Gasped Sierra as we all three jumped at the sudden appearance of Castiel next to Sam.

"You really need to announce yourself." Muttered Sam, taking Dani's face in his hands and whispering, "Dani, come back to us."

I eyed Sam's body language and felt my jaw clench as I took Dani's other hand and slid my thumb along the design of the Promise Ring.

"What's going on Cas?" Sierra asked, getting a washcloth from the bathroom and placing it on her forehead, reaching over me to do so.

"Azazel." He said, glancing his jaw in concern. "Stand back, all of you." He smirked, eyeing me as I hesitated, but did as he instructed and let go of her hand. I watched as Castiel moved next to the bed as she continued convulsing, whimpering, struggling to stay with us as he rose both of his hands and allowed them to hover over her barley covered body, at this point. He closed his eyes and began to allow his hands to remain hover, but travel along her body.

We watched, standing back against the TV stand across the room, Seirra's face wrinkled in worry, my eyes wide in horror as Sam moved to the table and began digging on the laptop again. I eyed Sam, then Dani's slowly calming down movement then back at Sierra.

'Maybe Sam has a point..." Sierra frowned, looking from Dani's figure to me. "...It'll be fine, why do you seem worried?"

"Something's off." I answered, glaring around the room and then studying Castiel as he seemed to be flenching at his effort. "What the hell is going on?"

After about 20 minutes of this, Castiel moved across the room to me as he stated, "She needs rest." Sierra moved to her sister's side immediately as Dani's body went limp, but we could see she was breathing.

"What the hell is that?" I growled, as Castiel glanced at Sierra and then over at Sam, and beckoned for me to follow him, which turned into myself and Sam following him outside the hotel room, leaving Sierra with Dani.

"Azazel knows where she is." Castiel sighed, heavily, lowering his head. "He was trying to do something similar to what she did before, the veil spell. Nick's looking for her."

"That was intense." Sam sighed, sliding his hands into his pockets as I glanced between the two. "Wait - Nick?!"

"What do you mean?" I pushed, ignoring Sam as Castiel moved us further from the door.

"Azazel is trying to take control of her." He frowned, looking between us. "He knows how close she is to both of you." He elaborated, eyeing Sam and then placing his gaze back on me. "He wants to use her as a pawn, maybe to even tear you two apart."

"What do we do then?" I asked, frowning at the hotel door.

"We have a few choices," shrugged Castiel, pondering. "We can teach her to block him, which means teaching her about her newly found demonic powers and all that...or...we get rid of her -"

"- excuse me?" Sam growled, stepping forward, but I placed a hand on his chest.

"- I don't mean kill her." Castiel corrected rolling his eyes. "I mean remove her from our presences until we can figure out what to do."

"Let's..." I hesitated, glancing between the two. "...try to teach her about her powers first, I'd rather have her with us and protected than to be out there and end up back with that asshole Nick."

"Nick?" Sam echoed again.

"Yeah, he's back, and a demon." I answered, looking back at Castiel. "So, what do you suggest with that choice?"

"Sam teaches with Dani." Castiel immediately stated, but seemed to hesitate to glance from Sam to myself. "All I'm going to do is confuse her, so is Raphael..."

"...I've been there though." Sam nodded slowly as Castiel looked between us again.

"I think I'll let you two figure this out...but that's the options." He sighed, nodding and stepping between us and exiting back into the hotel room with Sierra and Dani.

Sam and I took a sharp breath and exhaled in unison, glancing at each other.

"What do you think Dean?" Asked Sam, turning to me, genuine.

"I think you're getting feelings for her," I immediately spat, earning a hard face from him. "I see the way you two are looking at each other and how you're acting -"

"- what are you talking?" Sam interjected, shaking his head. "I'm worried about her."

"I am too, but..." I hesitated, maybe thinking I was seeing things that weren't there. "...you aren't, are you?"

"No." Sam answered immediately, with his jaw hanging almost shocked at my assumption.

"Okay." I found falling out of my mouth as Sam did a double take and exited back into the hotel room after Castiel. I watched the door shut and frowned at myself.

Was I just seeing things?

Something was telling me something was off with Dani and Sam. Why am I assuming Sam would do something like this to me?

I know Dani's memory is fucked right now, but there isn't any way Sam would take advantage would he?

What am I doing then? Am I taking advantage of her memory loss, by assuming that she would still choose me? She would still stay with me?

"DEAN!" Came Dani's voice, immediately causing my heart to drop and I kicked in the hotel room door.
