| Chapter 4: Inpending Doom. |
I opened the door to the hotel room, only to instantly panic, remembering there was someone else in my bed, Jessica. I felt that same wave of guilt come over me as I slammed the door back shut, knowing it woke up everyone inside and threw off Dani.
"Wrong room?" She asked, amused, still holding the towel against her jaw.
"Yep." I found falling out of my mouth easily as we moved to the next door, and with a small - what Christian's would call - prayer, I opened the door (which was already unlocked) and it revealed an empty room. I sighed outloud relief as I felt my figure relax as I shoved the door all the way open. "Come on in." I beckoned, glancing behind her as she did just that.
No sign of Nick.
"Do you need anything?" I asked, closing the door behind me, locking it.
"No," she sighed, as I watched her walk around the hotel room and then plop down onto the bed and giggled at the bounce. "I think I'm going to take a shower..."
"...okay, I'll leave you to it -" I started, only to stop short at her next questions.
"You're not staying?"
My heart ached for her, but I knew with her current state of mind...and with my current situation, it was wrong.
I sighed out loud, moving across the room and getting nose to nose with her.
"Maybe one night." I sighed, poking her nose, earning a giggle and a confused gazed. "Not tonight though, my brother is in the next room and he's bound to be awake at any minute now," I sighed, moving across the room to exit and glancing down at my watch. "So I'll be back soon...if you need anything, let me know and lock this." I stated, pointing at the door.
"How will I know it's you?" She asked, almost seductively rising from the bed and beaming at me.
I sighed again, fighting my urges.
"I'll know 13 times." I stated quickly, opening the door and then turning back to her. "Will you be alright?"
"If I'm half this Dani you keep calling me, I should be." She smirked, now leaning against the door as I stood in the doorway, not wanting to leave her. "I'll be fine, go talk to your Brother - do what you gotta do, if anything I'll see you tomorrow."
I smiled softly, caught myself leaning forward to kiss her - but held myself back.
"Goodnight." I sighed softly as she smiled.
"Night." She replied, starry-eyed as she gently shut the door, and I paused directly outside the door until I heard the click of the lock before stepping up to the original hotel room.
"What was that?" Asked Sam, as I opened the door and noticed Jessica wasn't in bed, but noticed the bathroom door was shut and Castiel was eyeing me suspiciously as I noticed he was sitting in the corner of the room, in the perfect position to look out the window. "You open the door and slam it shut, you woke everyone up...I couldn't get your Jessica keep her voice down."
"She tends not to." I winked and smiled, immediately losing said smile and regretting the wink. "Uh, sorry about that."
"What was that about?" Sam pushed, following me to the bed Jessica and I occupied.
"We have a situation..." I sighed, finding my keys in my bag and sliding them into my jacket pocket.
"...why are your knuckles bruised?" Asked Castiel, from across the room without even looking at my hands.
I shot him a firm look for him not to hint at what I believed he knew already.
"What situation?" Interjected Sam, looking between Castiel and myself. "Do we have a lead on Dani?"
"More like hardcore evidence." Chimed Sierra, emerging from the couch bed that she and Sam shared, which I found odd but didn't question it.
"Hardcore?" Sam and I echoed in unison.
"I figured out what happened the other day," she cheered, smiling around the room. "That spell I had where I couldn't really see or comprehend what I was doing?"
"When you stuck a fork in that outlet?" Asked Castiel, appearing next me - without making any movement.
"Dammit Cas!" I growled, as Castiel just titled his head like a lost puppy.
"Yes." Sierra rolled her eyes as she pushed on. "Somehow, Dani managed to see where I was, what I was doing for a small amount of time. While I was able to do the same on her end..."
"...and that's....what?" Asked Sam, turning to her.
"...it's a demonic spell, I just found it in our Mother's journal." She elaborated as the four of us moved towards the only table in the hotel room and she began to read the description out loud. "It's a Veil spell, only Demonic beings can utilize it - and the only conclusion I came to for Dani is that...well..."
"...her angelic blood..." frowned Sam, looking from Sierra to myself.
"...the bastard must have drained her." I added, staring at the wall over Sam's shoulder, thinking of Dani. "What had to have happened for that to happen?"
"Whoever took her -" Sierra started as Castiel interjected.
"- Azazel, Yellow Eyed Demon." He nodded as Sierra nodded along with him.
"- had to have..." she paused, frowning down at the journal and looking up at Sam and then her frowned deepened when she moved her gaze onto me.
"Have what?" I pushed, impatiently.
"...had to have killed her." Sierra swallowed hard, frowning down at the journal, not daring to make more eye contact with me.
"For a soul to have angelic blood through their veins, then make a demonic deal...get killed in order to be dragged to hell - only to be dragged back out of hell..." Castiel thought out loud, beginning to pace the room. "...and then to be taken by one of the most powerful demons around, to be killed again and drained of blood...there's only one thing that could be keeping her alive right now..."
"...which is...?" Asked Sam, beaming at Castiel as he frowned up at us.
"...her angelic blood being drained...and replaced with demonic blood..." Castiel spoke quietly, glancing at the bathroom door. "...translation...she's no longer human."
The three of us exchanged wide eyes and swallowed hard as the bathroom door opened and steam from the late-night shower filled the room, causing Sierra to slam the journal shut, Sam to clear his throat and Castiel to replace himself back in the chair in the corner. I just looked up at her damp body only wrapped in a towel.
I swallowed hard, for a different reason now, as she wrapped her soaked arms around my neck and pulled me into her for a deep, rough kiss - which made me feel absolutely nothing.

"...what do you mean I'm in danger?" Jessica whined as I shut the taxi's trunk with her bags inside and came back around to meet her on the side of the car. "What's going on Deany?"
"Okay, first of all -" I sighed, opening the back door of the taxi for her. "- I've told you, don't call me that. Second of all, the further away you are from me the better off you'll be -" I was cut off by her lips against mine, and I frowned into it.
It didn't feel right.
It never did, but now that Dani was back - no.
I pulled away, playing it off as if I had to sneeze.
"- Better off you'll be." I smirked, after fake sneezing.
"Be safe babe." She smirked, tapping my chin and leaning in for another kiss, but I moved out of her way and gently guided her into the backseat. "See you soon?"
"Sure." I shrugged, patting the roof of the taxi and wave her goodbye, only to turn around and freeze in the very spot I hadn't even had a chance to move out of yet.
Dani.
