| Chapter 3: An Old Friend. |

"- What do you think you're doing?" Growled a voice from behind us as we both turned to see, one of all people, Nick.

"Talking to an old friend?" I shrugged, turning back to Dean in attempt to get back to our conversation, only for Nick to snatch me out of the bar stool by my forearm, causing me to stumble into his arms, immediately triggering Dean to his feet.

"What hell are you doing, man?" Dean confronted, tugging at my hand gently to move to the side as Dean stepped closer to Nick. The bar went quiet and all eyes were on them. "She's a fucking human being, not a rag doll."

"You haven't seen the way we fuck then," winked Nick, getting nose to nose with Dean, which earned a smile from Dean.

I watched closely as Dean giggled, looking away for a brief second only to round back onto Nick and slamming his fist into his jaw, causing Nick to collapse onto the ground with a yelp. My jaw fell and I clapped my hands over my mouth, attempting to hide my smile.

"What the hell man?" Whined Nick, brushing his fingers against his nose, and when he realized he was bleeding he struggled to his feet, glaring at Dean. "She's not worth man."

I glared over at him and Dean just smiled, again.

"You obviously don't know her worth then." He spoke smooth, thick and sexy. I felt my body temperature rise as Dean, who's a decent few feet shorter than Nick, step back up to Nick's bloody face.

"And you do?" Nick raised his eyebrows, glaring down at him.

"I do," Dean nodded, adjusting his jacket. "It's pathetic that you had almost a year with her before and you still hadn't figure that out. What...did you have to go to hell and back and come back more empty headed?" Dean scoffed as they both fell silent. They glared at each other, earning some 'privacy' from the bar as the music came back on and people resumed their conversations. I stepped closer, attempting to pry them apart at this point.

"Guys." I cooed, eyeing Dean then glaring at Nick. "Let's go." I hissed through gritted teeth as I started to gently push Nick out of the bar, only for Nick's eyes to flicker from Dean to me and all I could make out was his rage. I frowned, knowing what was to follow as I opened the door for him, and with a final glance behind me, I swallowed hard watching Dean begin to follow us as I pulled the door shut.

I turned from the bar only to feel that familiar jolt across my face, causing me to stumble to my right as the bar door slammed open and Dean's outraged figure appeared.

"Fuck!" I yelped, holding my jaw and examining my hand to see blood. "Jesus Christ Nick!" I screamed, out of pain. "He said for you to not do that anymore -"

"- He's not fucking here to stop me -" started Nick, approaching me again only to be intercepted by Dean.

"No, but I am." He growled and flinging his fist into his face (again), only to then turn and shove his elbow into Nick's stomach and I watched as Nick went down, hard. He grumbled something under his breath as he held his stomach. "Stay down man."

"Dean, right?" I asked, as Dean's confused gazed only grew thicker as he approached me.

"What other name would I have, Dani?" He asked, tilting his head.

"I'm not sure," I smirked, nodding at the bar tender who appeared by my side to pass me a towel with ice in it. I pressed it against my jaw only to flench and hiss. "You feel like you an old friend, you know?"

"Old friend?" Dean echoed, approaching me.

"I can't place your face, but I feel like I know you..." I trailed off, gazing into those familiar pools that reflected nothing but raw emotion, I couldn't tell you what that emotion was but whatever it was, it was strong. "...how did you know my nickname?"

"Why are you asking me all of this, Dani?" Dean giggled, as we both started to walk down the walk way that stretched around the bar to the hotel portion of the place. "What's my last name, Dani?" He asked, looking suspiciously into my eyes.

"How the hell would I know?" I asked, grinning at his suspicious eyes. "We just met."

"Dani...?" He frowned, taking my face in his hands, only for both of us to flinch at the pressure he was putting on my jaw. "Shit."

My eyes went wide, looking around and tilted my head.

"What?"

"You don't know me?" He asked, quickly.

"No." I shook my head as he continued to hold my face, but more gentle.

"Do you trust me?" He asked, quickly again - but almost in a panic now.

"Strangely," I sighed, taking his eyes hands gently in mine as I pulled his hands off my face. "Yes."

"Follow me." He offered me his hand, and as I hesitated - looking between him and Nick, who seemed to be regaining his strength and slowly standing up and actually catching his breath. I looked back at Dean, his eyes just shined the right way for me, and I couldn't put my finger on it, but I felt safe with him.

I smiled at him, taking his hand as we both took off across the property to the other side of the hotel, like some high school couple running away from their parents.
