| Chapter 23: The Father of My Child. |
"You did what?!" I squealed, as the four pushed their way through the front door with bags from the store down the road.
"I'm making you a gender reveal cake..." Sierra seemed to half smile as she carried bags with Sam into the Kitchen. "...it was all Dean's idea!" she shot as I felt my eyes fill with tears, turning to Dean.
"You didn't have to do this." I frowned, draping my arms around his neck and smiled as he pulled my chin in for a kiss.
"Did we figure out anything else, other than if you're having a boy or a girl?" Dean asked, and I watched his eyes flickering nervously over my shoulder, towards the Kitchen, which caused me to do a double take towards the same room too.
"Happy, Healthy..." I trailed off, eyeing him suspiciously. "...you guys do realize that information isn't possible to know for another few weeks, right?"
"The Gender?" asked Sam, appearing next to us.
"Yeah." I nodded, withdrawing my arms from around Dean's neck. "But the thought is so sweet." I smiled, pecking him on the cheek and feeling a sudden surge of tension rise between Dean and Sam.
"Did you at least find out who the Father is?" Sierra interjected, pulling out of the tension firelane.
"I did." I sighed, as Bobby shot a smirk from his office as he started organizing books on his desk.
"Well..." Sierra pushed. "...don't leave us hanging."
"So, after getting the results, I thought long and hard about what the future would consist of..." I sighed, moving through the office and sitting in the kitchen as Bobby passed me a water bottle, and the rest beers. "...So, the Father of Colt or Aspen is Dean."
"FUCK YEAH!" Dean shouted, jumping so hard out of his seat that the chair shot across the room behind him as Bobby approached him, patting him on his back.
I smiled, watching Dean's reaction, but found myself frowning at Sam's head hanging. I reached over and took his hand, for comfort.
"Sam," I spoke softly, trying to get his attention as Sierra joined in with the celebration Dean and Bobby were having, and I chuckled slightly as Castiel emerged two minutes later and appeared to join in too.
"Dani," sighed Sam, looking up from his lap. "You don't have to say apologize -"
"Apologize?" I echoed, giggling out loud, not meaning to sound as mean as it came out. "No, I just wanted to offer the position of Godfather to you...they'll need a badass Uncle."
Sam's face flushed red and his eyes glistened over.
"Did you think that just because Dean's the father, that...that left you with nothing?" I asked, gently as Sam finally smiled really big and exhaled as if he had been holding his breath the entire time. "You're fucking crazy."
Sam just chuckled as our eyes held each other for a moment too long, and then he rose to have a beer with his brother.

"So the gender shit was a lie?" I chuckled, taking out my ear rings, turning from the sink and gazing at my sexy boyfriend across the hall. "Then what did you guys do?"
"We tried calling out the fuckers that did this to you..." Dean spoke, gently stroking my spine as I passed through the hall and the doorway into our room. I flinched at the touch, considering I was still healing. "...I wanted to make sure we had no surprises once the kid's here."
"You did this before you even knew it was yours." I smiled, draping my arms around his neck again as he pushed the door shut behind him. He kissed me gently and pulled me into a tight hug. "So, how did it go?"
"It didn't." sighed Dean, helping pull down our bed. "Our offerings were discarded, rejected."
"I've never heard of that happening at a crossroads before..." I trailed off, thinking hard as I sat down on the edge of the bed and popped some vitamin gummies that Bobby insisted I start taking. "...Strange."
"What was it Raphael said, again?" Dean asked, lying back and beaming up at the ceiling.
"He'll be back to collect..." I frowned, looking away from my end table and catching Dean's gaze. "...you don't think he'd -?" I started, caressing my stomach as Dean sat up on my elbow and took my hand.
"Even if he did mean it that way," Dean's face grew firm and serious. "He won't get anywhere near Colt."
"...Or Aspen..." I smirked, as he nodded, kissing my knuckles before returning to the staring contest with the ceiling.
"Colt." He shot back, earning a giggle from me as I clicked off the lamp for the night.
*
"So one of you has to die?" I asked for clarification, frowning at Dean. "In order to meet them on their own turf?"
"Ideally, yes." Castiel nodded, passing me a mug full of tea. "It's my own special mixture...it's for Colt."
"Or Aspen." Sierra interjected as she and Castiel eyed each other competitively.
"I could -" I started, but Dean interjected, taking my hand and squeezing it as he shook his head.
"- not just no, but hell no." He smirked, as I glared over at him.
"Are you going to deny me participation in this because of the baby?" I glared harder as he swallowed hard, but didn't answer - indicating that his answer was yes. "Does this mean no more hunting either?"
"Not until after you have the kid." Castiel chimed in.
"You've already been through enough, sis." Sierra sighed, patting my shoulder.
I huffed in disappointment and sat back in my chair, hard, glaring down at the special tea Castiel brewed for me.
They had a point, but I was a warrior - a fighter - that's all I knew.
"Given this is my girl," sighed Dean, leaning onto the table, getting everyone's attention. "My baby..." He gently patted my, still flat, stomach. "...I'll do it."
"What if you don't come back -?" I interjected as Sam spoke over me.
"No, you have way too much riding on you." Sam spoke firmly, as Dean's eyes glared over at his brother. "You have her and the baby depending on you keeping your pulse."
Dean opened his mouth to speak, but I took his hand and squeezed it. His eyes shot over to me as I sipped Castiel's tea, which tasted like Ginger and Lemon.
"I'll agree to this on one condition," Dean spoke strongly, earning a small smile from me. "Sammy, you get 20 minutes, and if you're not back - I'm coming after you -"
"- Or I could go." Sierra volunteered, earning everyone's eyes. "You two are about to become parents, let the Uncle and Aunt take the ropes for a bit."
Dean sighed heavily, pushing his tongue against his cheek in an annoyed manner. He looked over at me, and we shared a similar expression of frustration. We knew both Sam and Sierra would get the job done, we knew they were right for volunteering in our place...we knew that they would be the best choice, considering what was coming - or who.
We both also felt responsible for what may or may not happen to them, to our future.
I tangled my fingers with Dean's and sat down the mug of half drank tea as we both, reluctantly agreed.
