Chapter 7
I want Lalna.
Was all Nano could think when she stepped lightly out of the cloning vat. She said it with a greed, a wanting. She was injured all over, but that didn't stop her, she was alive. Alive. Kim took one step before a Testificate clone came screaming for Xephos' attention. The dimly lit room Kim was in consisted of only her vat, with her name and another name at the bottom. In the light levels, the walls and ceiling looked grey, but the floor stayed a cliche Yoglabs white. She was naked, what use were clothes to a guinea pig? Her hair was cut short, above her shoulders. Covered in chemicals, Nano saw a singular door. The door was the light source, some energy being emitted behind it. Nano was exhausted. Questions raced through her mind.
'Where's Fluxia?', 'Where am I?', 'What am I doing here?', 'Is there anybody here?'
As Nano was hurtled from the 'Alliance' world, she died. And her clone started to move...
Because you see, you can have as many clones as you want, but your soul would remain the same. The torture of dying over and over again. Death's wish.
Never pass it over and say;'Oh, I died again.' What if Yoglabs falls? If Yoglabs falls to debt or explosions what do we do? Millions would die. Die. Die. Die. Never rise again. A story never written. A blessing never made.
Nano placed her hand lightly on the handle of the door and pushed. The door wasn't locked, and Nano knew she was never meant to be here. She entered what seemed like a lab. Long, thin white corridors with statistics and facts hung up loosely as posters. She heard the footsteps, but didn't react. She knew the panicked, sharp boot-against-floor all too well. The man, Lewis Xephos, Lalna's second in command. He had come to her too, that same innocent look in his eyes. Nano was sure Xephos erased her memories, though. As her reaction was dull. She had killed Lalna's father, and she wanted to hate herself for it, but... He was an evil man.
"Nano..."Xephos leaned against a wall to catch his breath.
Nano looked blandly at Xephos. She couldn't seem to speak. Her emotions roared inside we but someone was forcing her to keep her state. Someone.
"How are you here?! You're meant to be dead, the author died, died!! You shouldn't be able to move. No, no, no."Xephos paced and pinched himself, like it was a bad dream.
Her voice was a shrieking, nails on a chalkboard. Dehumanising. Inhumane."I am your worst night mare, Xephos, I have power. I have enough power to only control you for short periods of time, but I am-"Nano's voice stopped an she staggered. Something fell out of her pocket, something that made Xephos's eyes widen. As if snapped out of a trance, Nano shot towards Xephos and pinned his neck to the wall, suffocating him. And of course, this was Xephos's master clone. She growled and bared her teeth, her eyes growing animal like. Though she was brimming with fury, she was small compared to Xephos, much less powerful. He them threw her off easily and rubbed his neck. Nano growled at Xephos one last time,"Where is Lalna?"
The spaceman vaguely pointed in the direction of the holo-suite, and watched the fluxed lady run to where his finger pointed. She panted and the flux burned her skin, the purple turning an almost red hot. She screamed but didn't stop. She wanted Lalna. She needed Lalna. That is blind love. She burst through the door, she knew Lalna was inside.
"Lalna!!"Nano gasped, she felt his eyes travel to her body and she avoided all eye contact.
"Ble."Lalna was sitting on a gravel path, Namo didn't realise the mass amount of blood, organs and mutilated villagers there were around him.
"What?"
"My name is not Lalna. I'm Hector. Lalnable Hector."
"Lalnable... It's been too long."Nano shook her head, the pain of the flux had died.
"Would you like some? It's freshly killed!"He held up some meat, testificate, most likely.
Nano cringed."No thanks, Lalnable."
The psychopath took off his lab coat, stained with dried blood, and threw it into Nano, who flinched and put it on.
"Nano."Lalnable turned to her.
"What?"
"Why do you not look me in the eye? It hurts, you know."At that moment Nano's eyes snapped to his, and she saw the madness. That wicked smile, stretched unnaturally to the sides. Forever grinning. Nano shivered."This blood, isn't it beautiful?"Lalnable mused."Crimson flames consuming the innocence."
"You're a psychopath."
"And?"
"You're mad. Inhumane. A murderer."
"Nano, did you know there is a book concerning good psychopaths and how they use it to their benefit?"
"What? That's ridiculous!"
"No it's not. I see everything. I see your blood, pumping around your tiny body, with that incredibly weak heart you have. So weak an useless. I see your pale face, mouth agape, hollowed eyes, colourless lips. I see your death. Who would realise that keeping me in a room would bring Lalna to insanity? To me?"
"Lalnable, Lalna, whatever, I have something to tell you."
"Oh good! I also have some news for you!"
"I'm... Sorry I killed your father, he was... corrupt in some way."
This furled everything- Lalnable's laugh howled throughout the room, ricocheting back and forth, a twisted screeching that escaped from Hector's lips.
"I'm glad you can laugh it off, I was predicting something more..."Nano sighed.
"What do you expect, I'm a psychopath."He said simply.
"What did you need to tell me?"
"This is on behalf of Lalna and myself. Do not confuse us, we are different. Very different. But... I have to say this or Duncan Lalna will burst.
-Kim Nanosounds, I love you-"
