Chapter four

I can't believe she is gone. We excited the alleyway. When I looked back there were red eyes looking at me with a victorious shine. I was so mad at that cat. I almost ran back to bite him in the face. Braveheart was looking at me in concern. I smiled slightly and looked away. She didn't seem to believe my smile.

"It isn't you fault." She said quietly.

"If we hadn't come through here than she would still be alive." A tear ran down my cheek.

"We had to."

"I should have claimed a section."

"This won't help anything."

We continued in silence. I was partly mad at her and me and the funny thing was I didn't know why. Braveheart wandered over the Sharptooth. They talked quietly among themselves. I knew that they were talking about me.

We were out of the bad part of town. The houses turned from being made out of cardboard to beautiful mansion with balconies and porches. We curled under a mailbox and fell asleep.

I woke up. The moon was still in the sky. I had only slept for an hour. Braveheart and Sharptooth were still fast asleep. I left them and sat on the curb. Beautiful cars passed by. There were cars without roofs and cars that had really high roofs. There were long cars and short cars. The bright tower was still in the distance. It shone like a second moon. I could see small elevators going up the side.

Braveheart came and sat beside me.

"I miss her to you know." She whispered.

"I think we all do."

"She was my best friend. I can't believe she is gone."

"Me either." I didn't want to talk about it.

"Beautiful the sky isn't it." She said.

"Yes."

It was true. Though you couldn't see many stars when you looked up it was many colors from all the lights. I could make out the morning star.

"The wall should be around that tower." Braveheart commented.

"Maybe."

Sharptooth came up behind us.

"What are you doing?" He asked.

"Talking about where we have to go." Braveheart answered.

"We have to get to that tower." I said.

"Well lets go." Sharptooth said.

We started to run the the direction of the tower. The sky was brightening up. We hurried along trying to get to the tower. By morning it looked no closer than it had before. I stopped, discouraged.

"Maybe its impossible."

"Don't give up." Sharptooth growled as he ran by.

I got up. Maybe he was right. We were running all day and by evening the tower did seem to be closer. Another day of this and we should get there in no time. I was exhausted. Braveheart and Sharptooth looked like they were to. We fell asleep under a lamppost.

Morning came and I got up. A bus was sitting and people were getting on. The bumper looked big enough to sit on. I woke up the others.

"We should catch a ride on the bus." I said.

Braveheart and sharptooth looked doubtful but they followed me unto the back. the bus started with a lurch and soon we were off. The heavy body of the bus blocked the wind. We rode down the street and turned unto another. I peeked around the corner. we were headed in the direction of the tower.
