Chapter Twenty

Happy 6th Birthday to Sabrina's best album ever, EVOLution! It makes me sad Sabrina hates her old music so much and refuses to sing it in concerts. I'm so happy I got to experience it live because I don't think I'll never go and see her in concert again. I hate when artist think they are too good for their old music when there are fans who still love it and I never thought she would turn into one of those type of artist.

Disclaimer: I own nothing!

Sorry for any spelling/grammar mistakes.

Enjoy!

Chapter Twenty

Sophie and Maya stay still shocked by Josh's words. Maya took in a deep breath, glancing between her husband and the other woman. The three remained quiet as Josh's demand sunk in and the air in the room becoming very heavy and tense as they waited for one to make the next move.

Sophie cleared her throat before shrugging and putting a neutral face on, "I guess I've out stayed my welcome," she forced a fake smile, finally breaking the silence and starting to make her way out of the room.

"Did you not hear what I said," Josh snapped, stopping Sophie in her tracks. "This conversation isn't over and you aren't just going to walk away from it."

"Josh," Maya murmured, quietly, resting a hand on his shoulder, trying to calm him down.

"I want a DNA test for Hunter and I want it now," Josh reiterated. "We need to schedule an appointment for a test so we can begin to move forward and if Hunter is my son, I want for us to come to some sort of terms with custody when the test comes back and if you have a problem with it then we will see you in court."

"Josh," Maya rested a hand on his shoulder, trying to get him to calm down as the air in the room was heavy and tense. The three remained quiet as Josh's demands sunk in.

Sophie stopped to turn and look at Josh. "Right now is not the time to be having this conversation."

"Why? Why isn't it the right time?" Josh questioned. "We have given you plenty of time. My wife was in early stages of pregnancy and is now about to give birth. I think it shows we gave you plenty of time and enough time has pass."

"I don't know if I can trust you."

"Trust us? What do you mean by that?"

"Josh, you two are about to have a baby and don't think for one second I'm going to let my son come into your lives to only be pushed aside or come second."

"That won't happen."

"You don't know that," Sophie stressed.

"Sophie, you can't keep coming up with reasons to not give us a DNA test and then split custody," Maya cut in, softly.

Sophie glared in the other woman's direction. "You have no clue how this feels and one day you may-"

"Don't you dare finish that sentence."

Maya looked over at her angry husband before looking over at Sophie. "You are right this conversation is over. We told you what we want. We can take the easy road or hard road. Think about Hunter when deciding. Do what is best for him."

Sophie rolled her eyes, before nodding. "I'm packing up my things and leaving. Hunter and I will be out of your hairs in less than ten minutes."

The couple watched the other woman leave up the stairs angrily.

Josh shook his head, taking in a deep breath before letting it out slowly as he ran his hands over his face, "We are just going to let her leave and have no clue where she is going."

"Josh, we don't have a choice. We can't force her to stay."

Josh nodded, calming himself down as his eyes fell on his wife. "I'm sorry."

Maya frowned, giving him a questioning look.

"We should have done this month ago. It probably wouldn't be this tense."

"It's okay," Maya said, taking his hands into hers. "You were scared of what is exactly happening."

Josh pulled Maya into his arms as the two held each other close. They pulled apart at the sound of steps coming down the stairs to see Sophie and Hunter dragging their suitcases.

Maya glanced at Hunter swallowing, She wanted to try and get them to stay but remain quiet as the couple watch the two leave.

Maya was snapped out of her memory of that night at the sounds of Josh hammering the nail into the wall to hang up the lettering above their daughter's bed.

"How's does it look?" Josh asked, backing up from the wall but not looking over at Maya.

Maya rested her hand on her stomach, before glancing over at him when she felt his eyes now on her, "It looks good," she smiled as Josh went back in to hang up the rest of the letters.

Maya watched him in peace as he nailed in hung up each letter until he got to the last letter. She felt a rush of happiness when Josh moved the beautiful white crib under the lettering. "It perfect," she murmured, feeling herself become emotional as she took in her daughter's nursery.

Josh smiled, coming to stand to next her. He wrapped his arm around her. "Just imagine in just a few weeks she is going to be in that crib."

Maya smiled up at her husband. He pressed a quick kiss to her lips. Maya watched as Josh went over wiping the crib down. Her mind going back to that nights over a month ago. She thought by now they would have for sure heard from Sophie but days went by then weeks, Halloween passed by and now here they were just a few days until Thanksgiving.

"Have you heard anything from her?" she asked before she could stop herself.

Josh stopped wiping the leg off of the already cleaned crib. He sighed, shaking his head. "You know this was my fear. If I pushed too much she would take him and we would never see the two again."

Maya felt the guilt creep up and giving her the chills. She knew she was the main one pushing to get answers.

"I don't blame you."

Maya looked up at her husband. "But-"

Josh shook his head, stopping her. "Anyone in your position would wanted the same. I meant what I said. I should have put my foot down months ago instead of letting her call the shots and causing you so much stress. I let so much time go by. Sophie came out of nowhere and ruined the day you wanted to tell me you were pregnant and now look we are weeks away from having our baby with no answers." Josh stood up walking over to his wife, "I'm lucky I have you and I'm lucky to have her," he said, resting his hand on her stomach.

"And we are lucky to have you," Maya said, lovingly, staring into her husband's eyes.

Josh smiled, pressing a soft kiss on Maya's lips. "I'm going to shower."

Maya nodded, as the doorbell rung, "Don't worry I got it."

Maya slowly made her way to the door as it rung it again. "Coming" she yelled before finally opening the front door to find her stepfather on the other side. "Hey," she greeted, shocked, opening the door fully for him to come in.

"Hey, where's Josh?" he asked.

"In the shower," Maya answered, closing the door behind him. "Why what's up?" she questioned, taking a seat on the chair across from Shawn.

Shawn sat down glancing in the direction of the sound of running water. "I don't have much time because I'm on my way meeting a client so I'll just tell you and you can tell Josh."

Maya raised an eyebrow as Shawn took a piece of folded paper out of his pocket and handed it to Maya.

"I found Sophie."

Maya's mouth dropped open.

"This paper has the addressed she has been staying at."

Maya opened the piece of paper to see an addressed scribbled on it before folding the paper back up. "Thank you,"

"It's no problem," he smiled, kissing her forehead. "I'll see you Thursday at Thanksgiving."

Maya nodded, walking Shawn out. She turned to see her husband coming down the stairs in only a towel. She quickly put the piece of paper in her pocket.

"Who was that?"

"Shawn," she answered. "Thankfully he didn't stay since someone didn't want to put clothes on before coming down," she grinned.

He smirked, "You love it."

Maya playfully rolled her eyes as she met him at the bottom of the stairs.

"What did he want."

Maya shook her head, "Nothing. He just stopped by to say hi and tell me my mom wants us to bring the green bean casserole to Thanksgiving."

Josh nodded, "I'm going to go get dress and then maybe can head out and get a few more things for Violet."

Maya nodded, smiling, watching Josh go up the stairs. She watched until he was out of sight before going into the kitchen. She took out the piece of paper, unfolding it and staring at the address before and going over and hiding the piece of paper in her suitcase.
