Chapter Twelve
Before we get into the new chapter I just wanted to say I'm not promoting the Duggars. I wrote some of these parts a long time ago before the new things about the brother came out. They are just the most famous family with a ton of kids that I know of so I thought it would be funny with Josh wanting a ton of kids. That's all. I'm sorry this chapter took so long and is on the shorter side but another chapter is coming soon because I ended up splitting the chapter up and adding some new stuff so I promise the wait won't be as long.
Happy 2nd Birthday to Singular Act 2!

Sorry for any grammar/spelling mistakes

Chapter Twelve
Maya's eyes opened at the sound of the front door opening and closing loudly.
Riley.
She laid still just listening until she heard a crash of things falling on to the floor. She shook her head, smiling to herself, when she heard some curse words from her best friend. She glanced up and saw Josh was still sound asleep. She carefully unwrapped Josh's arms from around her and quietly made her way off of their bed. She kept her eyes on Josh making sure she didn't wake him up before slipping on his shirt from the floor. She quietly continued her way out of their room, looking back one last time to make Josh was still asleep before tippy toeing down the hall and stairs. She flipped the light on catching Riley crawling on her knees trying to pick up her things that fell out of her purse.
"Riles?"
Riley looked up shocked to see her pregnant best friend awake and winced, "Sorry did I wake you?"
"It's okay," Maya told her as she walked her way down the rest of the stairs.
"Did I wake Josh?"
Maya shook her head, "No he is still sleeping which is good news for you little one, it looks like your Daddy doesn't wake up too easy," she said, looking down at her belly. "But bad news is Mama wakes up for everything."
Riley chucked as she crawled her way over to the couch and flopping herself on it.
"It looks like someone had a good night," Maya grinned, taking in her drunk best friend before the grin erased from her face and she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "Wait. Where is Marcello?"
Riley's eyes looked up wide at her best friend's question.
"Uh oh," Maya cringed as she quickly took a seat next to her best friend.
"No it's okay. We broke up."
Maya frowned, confused at how okay and nonchalant her best friend was talking about her break up that just happened with her boyfriend of the last year. Riley seemed so happy in Italy but she did noticed Riley didn't seem as happy in person.
"We weren't meant to be," Riley admitted. "What we had was fun in Italy and I'm thankful to him for opening me to new possible things but not for my future. I started to think and feel differently. What I wanted in Italy is not what I really thought I wanted. I could have done something I would later regret and I'm happy I realized it before I did. Marcello is in a different place than me. He has already been married, divorced and has children."
It was Maya's turn for her eyes to go wide at finding out new information about Marcello.
"I thought I would be okay with not getting married and having a children and just traveling the world with him but then coming here showed me I want to settle down, get married and have a family."
Maya slowly nodded, giving her a small smile.
"We went to dinner. Talked. Ended it. He went to a hotel and I went to the bar...and I ended up with Lucas."
Maya raised her eyebrows and her mouth dropped opened shocked at the last part of her friend's admission. "What do you mean you ended up with Lucas?"
"Not like that," she eased Maya's worries. "I don't think things are going good between him and Sophie so he ended up at the same bar and we just had a couple of drinks. He went home and I came here."
"I can't say that I'm surprised," Maya mumbled, knowing from her conversations with Josh that Sophie said some crazy things that she was willing to do when it came to her, Lucas and Hunter.
"Lucas and I did have a moment."
Once again Maya raised her eyebrows shocked.
"The way he looked into my eyes it was like he was staring into my soul."
Maya's mouth opened and closed not being able to get out words.
"I'm drunk, aren't I?" Riley groaned, yanking her shoe off.
Maya slightly nodded, wondering if her best friend would even remember this tomorrow morning. "Yeah you are," she confirmed. "Maybe you should lie down and we can talk about this again tomorrow."
"Okay," Riley agreed as she started to laid down.
Maya grabbed a pillow and blanket from the closet and helped Riley get comfortable on the couch instead of trying to get her up the stairs to the guest bedroom, then a thought came to Maya. "How did you get home?"
"Uber."
"Good girl."
"You are going to be such a good mommy," Riley yawned as she closed her eyes.
Maya smiled, "Thank you."
"I'm so happy I'm going to be here for baby and not have to worry about getting here on time from Italy," Riley continued, keeping her eyes closed.
"Me too," Maya said, grabbing a garbage can and putting it next to Riley on the floor just incase Riley gets sick.
"I hope you have a boy. I know Josh wants a boy and I know you want it to be a boy for Josh so I hope it is a boy for the two of you but for me I hope it's a girl. I want a little girl to spoil and make the biggest princess and Disney lover there is."
Maya smiled, chuckling to herself as she stood back watching her friend go to sleep before making her way back to her room. She slipped back into bed hoping to not wake up Josh but as soon she got comfortable she heard his voice letting her know he was awake.
"Where you go?" Josh asked, cuddling up to Maya but keeping his eyes closed.
"How long have you been awake?" Maya questioned.
"I just woke up and noticed you weren't in my arms but felt you get back in bed before I could go looking for you."
Maya nodded, "I heard Riley come in," she told him, reaching up to run her finger through his hair. "She shared a moment with Lucas."
Josh's eyes popped open, "Fuc-"
"Don't you dare finish that word," Maya warned, putting her finger against his lips causing Josh to groaned.
"You've got to be kidding me."
"Nope, babe, I'm not kidding you."
"Of all people-him?"
"Shhhh."
Josh sighed. "I can't stand the guy," he pouted.
"I know."
"I don't see how you can stand the guy."
It was Maya's turn to sigh. "I think he has changed a lot since high school."
Josh rolled his eyes.
Maya cupped Josh's cheeks and pulled down for a quick kiss. "Stop," she laughed. "I think it is time to move on from high school. You got the girl."
"You bet I did. I wasn't losing," he said, placing his lips on her.
"In good news," Maya murmured against his lips. "We get to find out what the baby is tomorrow."
"You mean today," Josh corrected causing Maya to roll her eyes as she got comfortable. He looked over at the time and counting down the hours in his head. He smiled, resting a hand on her growing stomach. "It is going to make it so real knowing what this little one is."
Maya nodded, looking down at his hand resting on her stomach. She just prayed the baby was what Josh really wanted. She didn't want to disappoint him if she didn't give him a boy.
"I hate to ruin the moment," Josh began causing Maya to look up at him and waited for him to continue. She knew by his voice he was about to say something that was probably going to not make her happy. "But I was thinking..."
"About?" she pushed.
"Inviting Sophie and Hunter over tomorrow for the grill out."
Maya's heart dropped but she forced a smile, trying to push aside her first thought of saying no. Tomorrow was their day. They were finding out if their baby was a boy or girl and then inviting family over to reveal to them what it is but she told herself she would support him if he asked and here he was asking to invite them so she needed to push aside her feelings and support him. "That's fine," she shrugged.
Josh took her hand into his bringing it up to place a gentle kiss on it. "I just want Hunter to know my parents as much as possible. They don't come in town a lot and I know we are announcing if the baby is a boy or girl-"
"Josh," Maya cut him off. "I'm okay with it," she forced out, hoping Josh wouldn't noticed her hesitation or her not really wanting Sophie there. She wanted to be the supportive wife.
Josh looked at Maya suspiciously. "I know you're not but thank you."
Maya smiled, leaning up to kiss Josh. "I know you would for me."
Josh nodded, "I would do anything for you."
Maya smiled again, pulling her husband down for another kiss.
She knew tomorrow was going to be an interesting day.
