Chapter Thirteen
Maya sat between Josh's legs as her legs straddle his waist and her hands rested loosely on his shoulders. The two sat in her treehouse in the woods in her parent's backyard. They went there as soon as they left her appointment wanting to go somewhere special to them to find out their baby's gender. He held the card in his hand between them that contained the gender of their child. Josh had already taken it out of the envelope now all he had to do was flip it open for the big reveal.
"You ready?" he asked, looking up at her.
Maya stared into his eyes, giving him a small smile before nodding her head. The two looked down at the card as he flipped it opened. Her eyes scanned the words it's a... before she felt her heart dropped at the four little letters underneath it.
Girl.
She felt her heartbreak. She failed. She wasn't giving him a boy like he wanted. She wasn't giving him a boy like Sophie possibly did. She swallowed as her eyes glanced back up at Josh who eyes were still focused on the card in his hands.
"A girl," he breathed out loud. "We are having a little girl," he continued, starting to get emotional.
Maya pressed her lips together as she forced a smile when his eyes finally met hers. "Are you happy?" she asked, softly, her eyes on the brink of tears.
Josh looked at her confused. "Yeah, of course I'm happy. Why wouldn't I be?" he asked as his eyes narrowed in.
"Josh, you've been saying you want this baby to be a boy since the moment you found out we were pregnant. Even before that. You've always said you wanted our first baby to be a boy so you can teach him how to play baseball and it's not. It's not a boy."
"Maya," Josh breathed out, gently cupping her face between his hands as he felt guilt strike through his body. "I'm happy. I'm so damn happy we are having a little girl. Is it scary? Yes. Girls are scary as hell because I already want to lock her in her room and never let her out and she is still in your stomach. This little girl," he said, resting a hand on her bump. "Is my sweet little princess and there is nothing I wouldn't do for her. I'm going to have a little mini you walking around letting her get away with murder. She's not even here and I'm already wrapped around her little tiny finger and that is scary."
Maya smiled as she felt tears start to fall down her face.
"I'm so happy we are having a little girl. I get a new little girl friend to love."
Maya raised an eyebrow.
"What? She is a girl and she doesn't know it yet but I'm going to be her best friend in the whole entire world and love her as much as I love her mama. I get two girls to love and I can't wait."
Maya laughed, shaking her head before she leaned in kissing her husband.
"My little Violet," Josh murmured, resting a hand on Maya's stomach.
Maya looked surprised. "We really are going to name her Violet?"
"I think she named herself."
Maya nodded, smiling, thinking about the perfect nursery in her dream with the name Violet spelled out becoming a reality instead of just a dream.
Josh's eyes glanced around the tree house that held so many memories for the two and instantly thought about their first night in it. "We are knocking this tree house down as soon as she is old enough to date."
Maya laughed, shaking her head because even though she knew part of him was joking there was a bigger part of him who was more serious. "Why? Because you deflowered me here."
Josh nodded, "Exactly. My princess is not stepping foot in this with some boy."
"But this place holds so many memories for us," Maya pouted, as she looked around. "It holds that night, and the night we got engaged, and today with us finding out we are having a baby girl and all the little things in between."
Josh nodded, taking in the treehouse that had changed over the years with new pictures being hung on its walls that held so many special memories for them. "Yeah...it is still coming down."
"Oh my god," Maya chuckled. "My poor baby," she said, glancing down at her stomach. "At least you know Daddy is a heavy sleeper."
Josh frowned, narrowing his eyes in. "What?"
Maya's eyes glanced back up at her husband, "It's mine and Violet's secret," she grinned causing Josh's face to drop. It felt weird but right saying her baby's name.
"No you guys can't leave me out," Josh whined causing Maya to laugh even more at him.
"Too bad."
Josh dropped down to whisper against Maya's stomach. "Your going to tell Daddy when you get out of her tummy, right? It's me and you."
Maya smiled, running her hand through Josh's hair.
Josh looked up as the two held eye contact. "I love you."
"I love you more."

"She is dancing up a storm," Maya said, resting her hand on her stomach. It felt so good to know what her baby was.
Josh smiled, placing his hand on top of Maya's. "She is excited for everyone to find out."
"She is."
Josh let his hand stay rest, his smile getting bigger, "I can never get enough of feeling her moving."
Maya's heart melted, knowing he was telling the truth. Every chance he got he always felt her stomach hoping to get a chance to feel their daughter's movement. Their daughter. She smiled, watching his eyes light up as their daughter kicked. Her smile didn't stay long because out the corner of her eye she saw the arrival of Sophie and could feel her eyes on them but she decided to ignore Sophie and enjoy this moment with her husband. She wasted enough time worrying about Sophie and the drama that came with her. Her pregnancy wasn't that far from being over and right now she was at the perfect point where she was pregnant but not too pregnant where she was over it and ready for baby to come. She wanted to enjoy this moment with her husband and their baby girl.
"She really is dancing around."
Maya's smile returned and she focus on her husband, "I told you."
Josh bent down pressing a quick kiss on Maya's mouth. "I can't wait for her to get here."
"Me too but maybe we should stop talking about her before someone over hears us."
"You're right," Josh smiled, pressing another quick kiss to her mouth.
Maya pulled away watching as Josh's eyes found Hunter when they heard footsteps running towards them. "Hey Hunter," he greeted him.
"Coach can we toss ball?" Hunter asked, wasting no time.
"Sure, buddy," Josh told him before glancing down at Maya. "I'll be back after a quick game."
"Yeah, sure, a quick game," Maya said, playfully.
Josh grinned, kissing Maya one last time before going off with Hunter. Maya's eyes watch the two begin to toss the ball back and forth, both with smiles on their faces. She hoped Josh would be just as excited playing with their daughter.
"By the look on your face I'm guessing the baby is a girl."
Maya was shocked at the sound of Sophie's voice coming up next to her, carrying two drinks.
"I can see the envy and sadness in your eyes."
Maya took her eyes off of Josh and Hunter and wondered if she really had envy and sadness in her eyes.
"If I'm right and it is a girl at least he has Hunter."
Maya stood stun as Sophie walk pass her to join Lucas. She took in a deep breath and reminded herself how happy Josh was that they are having a little girl.
"Why didn't you tell me he was going to be here?"
Maya jumped at her best friend's voice, knocking her out of her thoughts. "What?"
"Lucas!" Riley hissed through her teeth. "He is here and you didn't tell me."
"I forgot."
"Look at me."
Maya looked down at her best friend's pink sundress.
"You look fine."
"Fine? That's it? I only look fine?"
"Okay, you need to calm down. Remember Lucas is here with his girlfriend-no not girlfriend but his fiancé and you just got out of a serious relationship."
Maya saw the flash of disappointment in her friend's eyes.
"You're right," Riley sighed, glancing over at Lucas. "He just gives me so many butterflies that I haven't had in a long time."
"I know," Maya gave her a small smile, her heart breaking for her best friend.
"What is wrong with me?"
Maya remember wondering the same thing when she fell so hard so fast for Josh, her hand going to her stomach thinking about how far hey have come. "Nothing is wrong with you but you have to give it time."
Riley nodded, sighing, taking one last glance at Lucas before looking back at her best friend who's hand was resting on her growing stomach. Her eyes lit back up, knowing what would make her happy. "You know what? Let's get this show on the road."
Maya watched Riley run into the house before looking over at Sophie and Lucas sitting next to each other. She noticed Lucas's eyes were following Riley while Sophie's eyes were staring in the direction of Josh. She didn't have much time to think about it because of the sound of her best friend's excited voice.
"It's time," Riley yelled, catching everyone's attention as she came out with two powder canons for the reveal handing one to Maya and the other to Josh.
Josh came to stand next to Maya as everyone gathered around them.
He playfully bumped Maya's shoulder causing her to smile. "Ready?"
Maya nodded, "It was a fun secret while it lasted."
"It was."
"Okay we are going to countdown from ten and then Maya and Josh will shoot the canons to reveal their baby," Riley instructed.
Both Josh and Maya held the canons up waiting for the countdown to end before the two shot the canons revealing pink powder to whistles and cheers.
"Pink! It's pink! It means it's a girl!" Riley screamed, jumping up and down and running towards Maya.
Maya felt herself being pulled into a hug and congratulation being young all around her but she couldn't help but noticed Sophie standing in the background with a satisfy look on her face.
I hope you guys enjoyed. I was so excited to finally get to this chapter because Joshaya in the the treehouse finding out what their baby was going to be was one of the first things I thought of for this story and I actually wrote a tiny part of it back when I was still writing Run and Hide. Joshaya is having a girl and naming her Violet! What do you guys think? A lot of you guess a girl, some of you thought I was tricking you and making you think it was a girl but it was a boy then there were quite a few of you who were guessing twins which was surprising. Please leave me a review with your thoughts and if there is something you want to see. I need some filler ideas and I know you guys are wanting the D.N.A. confrontation but in due time. Until next timexoxo.
