Shiro and Curtis smiled at one another as their foreheads touched, they danced closely to the slow song playing over the speakers at the capital building.

There were balconies all around the perimeters, where people mingled, a giant marble staircase connected them. The main floor was white marble as well, and spread out across under all the guests who had come to congratulate the commander and his husband.

"I know you hate dresses." James said as he danced with Pidge. He had taken special ballroom classes so he could dance with her this night. He didn't like the awkward bear hug dance. He twirled her around and dipped her. "But you do look beautiful."

"Well i feel like a dork." Pidge said with a laugh.

"You look beautiful Katie." James smiles down at her and kissed her sweetly. "As always."

Pidge blushed as James brought her back up and took her hand in his and put another on her back.

Across the room another couple danced. Except they were a lot more closer and personal. Veronica had her arms around Axca's shoulders and their noses were less then an inch apart.

"I can't believe you made it..." Veronica said.

"I'll always make it for you." Axca said. "Whenever you need me, just call and I'll come. You should join the blade, it's not that bad."

"I wish I could." Veronica said. "But I cant leave Lance."

"I know... do you really think he needs you?" Axca asked. "I miss you."

"I miss you too. But we write each-other every day." Veronica pointed out. "Nobody comes to see Lance anymore, except Keith."

"And I don't think he will come." Axca said.

"Why not?" Veronica asked.

"Keith told us, he was going to move on from Lance." Axca said. "He sent Ezor last time to go get the supplies."

"Oh..." Veronica sighed. "I was really rooting for them."

"Weren't we all." Axca said. "But I guess some just aren't meant to be together."

"Lance is so hung up on Allura, he doesn't even flirt with girls anymore." Veronica said. "Nobody can interest him, all he does is talk abut Allura, and dream about her."

"It's strange, cause Keith does the same but for Lance." Axca said. "He still has that stupid jacket of Lance's, he sleeps with it each night. I caught him doing that, and he begged me not to tell anyone." She chuckled.

"Lance has an entire shelf dedicated to the things Keith got him." Veronica said. "It's adorable. He cares so much for Keith... but that will never be the same love Keith feels."

"Friendzoned hard." Axca sighed. "Too bad."

"Where even is Lance?" Veronica asked.

"I am sure he is with Hunk or Pidge." Axca said. "Hopefully they force him to dance with someone. But in the meantime." Axca dipped her. "Let enjoy each other's company."

Above them, sat a Cuban boy, who had grown into a man. He leaned against the balcony as he looked over at all the couples dancing below them.

He picked one of the decorative flowers, they were the Altean juniberries from his farm. He sighed, he wished Allura was here. They didn't even get to dance before she left.

"Hey, Lance." Hunk said as he walked over to him.

"Hey Hunk, where is Shay?" Lance asked as he turned to his friend.

"Bathroom." Hunk said. "Why aren't you dancing?"

"I can't." Lance said, like that meant something.

"You can dance." Hunk said.

"No I mean I can't bring myself to. Not after Allura. She was..." Lance said. "She was everything to me Hunk, and she is gone and I don't know what to do anymore. I wished she could be here, I wished I could have sacrificed myself instead of her."

"Lance, I know it sucks that Allura died, but hat was YEARS ago." Hunk said.

"But I still love her." Lance said.

"You always love your first choice. But nobody ever gets their first choice." Hunk said. "You don't just end up with a first choice, you need to move on and grow from relationships."

"But who would even want to date me?" Lance said. "I'm just a farmer boy from Cuba, not even a cool pilot anymore..."

"Oh my gosh!!!" Hunk said loudly. "Lance you are a freaking idiot! Your so oblivious to the obvious!!"

Lance jumped back. "Dude! Why are you yelling?"

"Cause you are so stupid Lance. Countless people would love to date you. In fact, there had been someone who had loved you a long longer then Allura ever did." Hunk snapped at Lance. "You have just been so hung up on Allura you don't even see how much they care about you and love you."

"Really?" Lance questioned, his face brightening up a bit. "Someone actually likes me that much?"

"Yes. A lot more then Allura ever did." Hunk said. "You better get your butt out there and go ask them to dance."

"Wait, who is it?" Lance asked.

Hunk face planted himself. Lance was frustrating him. "It's Keith."

"Keith?" Lance seemed surprised.

"Yes Keith!"

"Keith, like mullet, knives, space wolf?" Lance asked.

"Yes!" Hunk said

"Red Paladin to black Paladin." Lance question.

"Oh my gosh yes Lance!" Hunk said.

"Are you sure he likes me?" Lance asked.

"I am positive." Hunk said.

"There you are." Shay said as she walked back over to Hunk. "You ready to dance?"

"I sure am cupcake." Hunk said to her, then turned to Lance a final time. "You get your butt out on that dance floor and ask that boy to dance. Right now."

Lance's eyes widened at the tone of Hunk's voice, it was almost demanding. He watched Hunk descend down the stairs with Shay.

Keith... Keith liked him?

No... Hunk said Keith loves him, and has loved him for longer then Allura.

This was mind blowing to Lance.

Was he really holding up on her? She would have wanted him to move on, to be happy. Well this was him moving on.

He quickly ran down the marble stairway to the dance floor, he scanned the crowd for mullets. How could he not find that mullet in this crowd. The music boomed as everyone danced, blocking all form of vision Lance could have of his surroundings.

"Alright everyone." The DJ said. "Final dance of the night. Let's slow things down."

Lance's heart was beating, it was the final dance, the final song, and Keith was nowhere to be found.

His heart dropped as there were couples all around him.

Pidge and James dancing a fancy waltz,

Hunk and Shay swaying to the music,

Veronica and Axca getting way too close to each other's faces as they talked.

And finally there was Shiro and Curtis, the two of them together being just perfect soulmates.

He was alone.

He was just an extra wheel.

Again

"Hey sharpshooter." A voice said behind him.

Lance turned to see Keith!

"Keith!" He exclaimed

Keith stood about four feet away. He smiled at Lance and put an arm and hand up, his palm parallel to the wall.

"Hey... want to dance?" Keith asked him.
