Coming Home
Lance smiled across the window as he watched the Atlas descend upon Earth. They were finally coming home, and he couldn't wait to see his family.
When they got back there was a multitude of people waiting for them, they landed and Lance was the first one out of the Atlas. He yelled for his parents, he spotted them at the front to his right and he ran to them, engulfing them in a hug.
"Lance!" His mother smiled as she hugged him tightly back.
Lance hugged all his family members as they made a big group hug once Veronica ran over to them. "I missed you all so much." Lance said with a smile, a tear fell down his face.
"Where is that sweet girlfriend of yours?" His father asked.
Lance went silent, the entire room felt like it had gone silent, and still. He looked down and slowly released himself from the hug of his family.
"Dad, not now..." Veronica whispered.
"Oh..." his father got the message as he looked at Lance before pulling him close. "I'm so sorry."
"It's okay..." Lance whispered back. "I'm here now, and I'm not leaving here again."
"What do you mean?" His mom asked.
"I have decided I want to stay here. I don't want to be a paladin anymore." Lance told them.

"A toast to Lance." Shiro said as he held up a cup. "Lance is known for his hard work. You may not be the best at things, but you never give up. You always keep pushing forward through all things until you get the outcome you want. Lance we are going to miss having you aboard this ship, so much. But we wish the best of luck to you and your future. To Lance."
Every repeated 'To Lance' before clicking their cups together to drink.
"Aww you guys." Lance smiled. "This is all so much. Honestly I can't thank you enough for your support and this party is amazing!"
"I'm going to miss you." Hunk gave Lance a hug. "Promise me you will email and message me every day."
"I promise." Lance said.
"Yeah. Who is going to be our goofball?" Pidge teased.
"I'm not a goofball. Matt is." Lance said.
"Hey!" Matt snapped and everyone laughed.
"Keith didn't show..." Shiro whispered to Curtis who was beside him.
"Were you expecting him?" Curtis whispered back. They were holding hands in the corner and they drank.
"I thought he would show up." Shiro let go of his hand so he could take out his phone to message Keith.
Shiro: Hey are you coming?
Keith: To What? Your funeral old man?
Shiro: HaHa, not funny. I mean Lance's party.
Keith: HIS WHAT?!!
Shiro: did Lance not tell you? He is leaving Voltron. We are having his party today.
Keith: he did not tell me! You can't be serious.
Shiro: no I am.
Keith: I'll be there... give me a second. Don't let him leave.
"Keith didn't even know." Shiro told Curtis.
"Did Lance not tell him?" Curtis questioned.
"He must of forgotten." Shiro said. "Or... I don't know. Now this makes me worried."
"I'm sure Keith will be fine, he will understand that it was just forgotten." Curtis said.
"That's why I'm worried about." Shiro said. "Keith will be so upset that Lance forgot him. I don't know what he will do."
"Well, he is coming now, so we will have to see." Curtis said. "But in the meantime, let's enjoy ourselves." He put an arm around Shiro. "Have some fun. Stop being space dad for one moment."
"Okay. Okay." Shiro said. "Lead the way Curtis."

"So Lance, you quit our challenge almost as fast as you quit Voltron." James teased Lance as he was getting himself some cake.
"Buzz off Griffin." Lance snapped as he grabbed his cake to walk away.
"Pitty, well, guess I'll enjoy taking over Red for you when you are gone." James teased.
"Red would never choose someone as stupid as you." Lance whispered under his breath as he walked off.
He walked past a mirror and paused to look at himself. He still hadn't gotten use to those Altean marks. He reached up to touch one of them on his cheeks. He sighed, these were a constant reminder of her that would always stay with him forever now. He turned to the side as he continued walking on.
Suddenly the door bursted open, the crowd yelled for a second then went silent when they saw who it was. Dressed in the Blade of Marmora outfit stood Keith. He was panting softly, having run the entire way from his lion up to the party. His eyes darted around the room in search of one person, when he locked eyes with Lance he ran over to him. "Lance!" He called as he ran over to him.
Lance's eyes widened when he saw Keith. Shoot! He totally forgot to tell him he was leaving! "Keith... What are you doing here?" He questioned.
"You can't leave Voltron!" Keith flat out said.
"I have to Keith, I can't keep doing this." Lance said.
"Doing what exactly?"
"Being reminded of her everywhere I look. I'm going to live with my parents on the family farm." He told him.
"That's stupid. You want to be a pilot! Ever since we were twelve you always said you wanted to be a pilot!" Keith argued. "You can leave Voltron. You are Lance, Paladin of the red lion, you are my right hand, you are..."
"It doesn't matter. You will find a replacement. It's not like your serious about Voltron anymore. The Atlas is here, the universe doesn't need Voltron anymore." Lance argued. "Besides, anyone can be the red lion. It doesn't have to be me."
"Yes it does. You my Lance. My red Paladin." Keith said. "If you are leaving, I'm leaving!"
"You can't leave, you are the leader! You are actually important!" Lance yelled.
"So are you! You can't let Allura get in the way of everything!" Keith yelled. "She is long gone, basically forgotten Lance. You need to move on from her."
"Don't talk about her that way!" Lance yelled at him. "You don't understand! You have never been in love before Keith, let alone been heartbroken by love. Why did you even come? You had no reason to! Go back to the blades, go back to the Galra where you belong! Cause it's not like you fit in here lone wolf! Nobody even likes you here, the only reason anyone gets along with you is because you are the black Paladin!"
Keith's eyes widened when he said that, he felt his heart break into a million pieces as he looked into Lance's eyes. "But, Lance—"
"Don't." Lance said.
"We had a bonding moment..."
"I said don't!" Lance snapped. "I told you, I am done being a paladin. Let me go."
Keith looked down, unable to meet Lance's eyes again. He bit his lower lip. "Please... stay the Paladin, don't give up red yet. Stay here on earth with your family. We can't form Voltron anyways, so you won't be needed anywhere. You can stay here with your family and live out your peaceful life."
"Don't call for help. I won't care, and I won't come." Lance told him before turning to leave the party and leaving Keith alone in the center of the room.
Keith watched him go, feeling pain all over as he watched his friend walk away for what might be the last time. He looked to his side to see Shiro. "Why didn't you tell me he wasn't okay?" He whispered to Shiro before turning and walking out the way he came in, leaving the party.
He went to his lion. Calling his mom up.
"Hey Keith. Where did you go?" Krolia questioned.
"It was Lance." Keith said
"Is he okay?" Krolia seemed worried.
"He is fine. Tell the Galra I can't be their leader." Keith said.
"Keith Wait a second—"
"I can't be apart from Lance anymore. He is wanting to quit Voltron mom. I shouldn't of come to do this, it was important but Lance and I grew further apart because of this." He said. "My decision is final, I'm staying on Earth, someone else can lead the Galra."
