If home is where the heart is... then Amber Fortescue has long since misplaced a part of hers. Except... "misplaced" wasn't quite the right word, for she hadn't handled it unwisely. No. She hadn't. She'd simply lost it, and if she were to go off the logic involving home and other people and things, then her heart had gone on a starless night, under the cover of pouring rain.

That much she'd never forget.

     And unfortunately for her, she hadn't a map or a clue as to where it went after that.

     Fast forward twelve years, she's back where she'd begun. On a train, heading to school. Only this time all she could account for company were ghosts, jokes never told and smiles never shared, and the wind in her hair, weakly imitating the voices of her past. And then it clicked, pieces finding their place... like autumn leaves falling down— why she was there, as she'd been before, shining at her like the refrigerator light and she could picture it...

After all those days, she was there... and she remembered it all too well.
