"i remember it all too well"

The seven interns were lined up in the chief's office. "I cut the LVAD wire", Izzie said. They all repeated the same thing except Alex. "I had nothing to do with it", he said. They all glared at him. "I know who did it so you might as well come clean", Richard said. "You have your suspicions but you can't be sure", Meredith said. "Without proof, you can't do anything". "One of you stole an organ", Richard said angrily. "Compromised a patient's life, and jeopardized the hospital's integrity with UNOS. I want you to spill right now". They all remained silent. 

"No more surgeries for any of you until you come clean. Until then, you're assigned to Camille Travis' case. You will provide whatever she desires".

They left the office.

"I'll go tell him it was me", Izzie offered. "No, we'll keep our mouths shut", Meredith said. "What exactly are we supposed to do, Mer? Wait until he "forgives" us?" Lucy questioned. "Sorry", Izzie said. "I appreciate what you guys did for Denny". "I don't care about Denny", Alex said. "I just lied so I could scrub in and you bribed me with my girlfriend". "We are all sticking together", Cristina said. "Are you feeling okay?" Lucy asked Cristina. George read Camille's file. "How hard can it be to give her what she wants?"George wondered. Bailey came over with Camille's friends. "It could be harder than you think", she said. "Camille is the chief's niece", Claire said. They all shared worried looks. "She wants the best prom ever", Natalie said. They all shared confused looks.

Meredith, Cristina, Holly and Lucy were watching George and Alex who were in a conference room with Claire and Natalie. "I hated teenage girls even when I was one", Cristina said. "I wore a lot of black and I had pink hair", Meredith said. "I didn't go to my prom". "My mother forced me to go", Cristina said. "My date barfed on my dress and then tried to feel me up". "My date prayed before every dance because he was touching me on "my waist area", Holly said. "I don't remember my prom", Lucy said. "I was high on pills".

"You're a Shepherd, Lucy", Richard said. "You're a legacy. Stepping out of that OR for too long can be damaging to a reputation like that".

"If you don't mind, sir, I'd appreciate it if you kept my last name out of this", Lucy said. "And, I don't really care about my reputation as much as you think I do, chief".

"Lucy, just tell who did it and this discussion ends right now"

"I guess it's over, because I'm not telling you"

"Kepner, you're a nervous girl, aren't you?" Richard asked. "A little", she replied, trying to calm down her shaky hands.

"I don't want to make you nervous. I just want the truth. It's simple. A name. Just a name"

"I wish I could tell you. Really, I do. But I can't. Sorry"

Lucy came up behind Alex with a hug from behind. "Hi", she greeted. "Hey", he replied.

"You okay?"

"Yeah"

"It's just...you seemed mad"

"I'm not mad at you"

"Well, good because I wanted to ask you something"

"What?"

"Do you want to go to prom with me?"

"Yes. Yes, I do"

She smiled and kissed him before walking away knowing he was watching her every move.

The prom had started. Lucy met Alex on the stairs wearing a green dress that flowed down. "You look beautiful", Alex said as he took her hand. "You're not so bad yourself", she smirked as she let him lead her to the dancefloor.

"Lucy", Alex started as they danced. "What?" she said, turning her head to look at him.

"I think...I kinda...it's nothing. Forget it"

"Alex?"

"Yeah?"

"I think, I kinda, it's nothing, too"

"Really?"

"Yeah. A lot"

He smiled before kissing her.

George found Holly in the hallway. "You look gorgeous", he said. "Thank you", she replied. He looked like he was about to say something when she started to walk away. "I can't do this", she said before walking away. "Holly", he started. "Holly, I love you!" That stopped her in her tracks and she turned around. "I'm sorry", he said. "I know that you hate me but I had to tell you. I love you so much". She walked towards him and kissed him. When she pulled out she smiled at him. "I love you too,George. So much", she said, pressing their noses together.

As Lucy and Alex danced, Lucy spotted Callie by herself. "I'm gonna catch up with Callie", Lucy said to him.

Callie and Lucy walked into an exam room to see Derek and Meredith. Derek was zipping up his pants. Lucy glared at him. "A nurse sent us to look for you", Callie said. "It's something with Izzie". "But we can see you're very preoccupied", Lucy said, still glaring at Derek. Callie fixed Meredith's dress before they both walked out. Lucy gave Derek one last look before leaving the room.

They all entered Denny's room to see Izzie lying in the bed with Denny. "Izzie", Cristina said in shock. "I think it was a stroke", Izzie said. "He was prone to blood clots. A clot could have formed on his sutures and travelled to his brain. It only takes a second". "Iz", Meredith tried. 

"Dr Hahn did a beautiful job on the surgery, I don't know why I didn't think of blood clots. He died all alone. He was alone" 

"There's nothing you could have done", George said,comforting a speechless Holly.

"I changed my dress three times. I wanted to look nice. I would have been here sooner. I couldn't figure out which dress to wear"

"Iz, we shouldn't be in here", Lucy said. "There are things that they need... They need to move him". 

 "Take him to the morgue"

"You can't stay here", Cristina said. "I know you want to"

"Can you please just get out? I want to be here with Denny"

"Izzie, that's not Denny", Alex said, entering the room. 

"Shut up

"Iz, Denny, the minute his heart stopped beating, he stopped being Denny. Now I know you love him but he also loved you. A guy that loves you like that, he wouldn't want you to do this to yourself, because it's not Denny. Not anymore" 

"An hour ago, he was proposing and now, he... And now he's going to the morgue. Isn't that ridiculous? Isn't that just the most ridiculous piece of crap you've ever heard?" She started sobbing. 

He picked her up from the bed and sat down with her. 

They all looked on as she sobbed in his arms.

The interns walked past Derek, Addison, Finn and the chief. Izzie turned around to the chief. "I cut the LVAD wire all by myself", she said. "I thought I was a surgeon, but I'm not. I quit". She began to walk away. George took Holly's hand and Alex took Lucy's and they followed after her.
