Chapter 2: Princess.

Hyrule Castle

The family finally makes it, and Aryll and Link are dragging their parents towards the Castle gates. They can't wait to finally get in and meet the princess herself.
Link would never admit it, but he is always told how beautiful the princess is, and he is more than eager to finally see her. So when they are right in front of the gates and allowed to enter, the two children instantly want to run off but are held back by their parents.
"Hey there, not that fast; we are in a Castle. The castle of the royal family, no running allowed."
Link looks at his parents pleading.
"But you told us the princess runs around as well!"

"She is the princess; one day, this castle will be hers, but she isn't allowed to run either, so you two are definitely not allowed to."

Defeated, Link and Aryll walk back to their parents and hold their hands while slowly walking through the castle. The two little kids can't help but look around and be fascinated by the way all of it looks. It's all so fancy, something is shining in every corner, and not a single dirty spot is found. Very different than their room, to say the least.
After a small while of walking and looking around, they reach the throne room where the King is already waiting, together with his wife and daughter.

The King is a tall well-built man. He isn't very muscular and looks more fat than anything else, but he is the King, so no one would ever dare to tell him. His name is Rhoam.

The Queen is a tall woman with a very slim body figure. She always has a friendly smile on her face. She is very beautiful and has short blonde hair. Her name is Elizabeth.

And next to the Queen is the princess. Link's eyes get huge.

The princess has long blonde hair. Her face is very beautiful and spotless. She wears a blue dress that only makes her look even more stunning. She stands there with such confidence and elegance. Link can't believe his eyes; he has never seen a girl this beautiful. Her name is Zelda.
"Hello there." The King happily greets the family.

"Greetings Your Highness."

"Oh, no need for formalities. We are friends here, right, Patrick?"

"You are right, Rhoam."

"Good. So we are happy that you arrived here, and if you want, we can show you your rooms for the weekend. You two can just follow my wife and me, and I'm sure Zelda can show the two kids where they will be sleeping, right?"

The King looks at Zelda; she nods eagerly to finally get going.

After those words, Zelda rushes down towards the door and signs Link and Aryll to follow her. The two kids follow her, but Zelda is running with such speed that the little kids can barely keep up; they are trying not to run as well, after all, their parents did tell them not to.

"Princess, slow down; we can't keep up!" Link tries to get her to slow down, and it works; Zelda finally stops running and waits for the two siblings.

"My apologies. I'm just so excited."

The two kids just smile at the princess. Aryll wants to talk but was cut off by Link.
"It's okay. But why are you this excited, princess?"

"It's unusual for me to have visitors, especially ones my age."

Aryll does not get what Zelda is saying. Being a princess was the best thing she could imagine; how could it ever be boring?

"What do you mean? You're the princess! You can do whatever you want." Aryll exclaimed.

"If only." Zelda laughs. "Most of the day, I spend studying or studying some more. I'm barely allowed to go outside, and wherever I go, there are guards following me around."
Aryll is shocked. So being a Princess isn't perfect? This is weird. Her thoughts were cut off by Link talking again.
"That seems boring, but we are here now so we can have some fun, right?"
Zelda's eyes light up.
"Yes! This will be perfect. I can't wait. This weekend will be the best ever."

They continue walking until they reach three rooms. One of them is very big, the others are still huge compared to Link and Aryll's own but not even close to the room of the Princess.
"So this is where you two will be sleeping. I hope you like it."

The siblings can't even respond; their jaws drop as they enter the room. Wherever they look, they see things shining and reflecting. Their rooms are royal blue and gold. Link's room has some pictures of swords and the wild, while Aryll's has pictures of horses and princesses.

"Ah yes. I asked my parents what you two liked so I could prepare your rooms the way you like them."
"I love it." They both exclaim, and Zelda is extremely happy. Maybe she will finally make some friends.
"So what do you want to do first?"

Link thinks for a moment.
"Maybe play hide and seek? This place is huge, so I think it will be fun."
The two girls nod their heads and run away, trying to find a hiding spot. It is a very unfair match since the princess knows all of the hiding spots; she uses them to get away from the guards. So after Link searches for 30 minutes, he gives up, and the two girls come out of the small space they were hiding in.
"Good thing he gave up. This spot is definitely only made for one person."
They all share a laugh and want to play another round, but they are called by their parents to head to the throne room.
"We thought maybe we could take a walk through Castle Town this evening; there will be a festival, and going there would be a wonderful experience for all of us."
The kids all nod.
"Okay, good then head to your rooms and get dressed to go outside. Be ready in 10 minutes, then we will leave."

The three run to their rooms and all get dressed. Link is the first to finish. He has put on a Hylian Tunic and some regular pants.
Aryll is second; she also wears something pretty basic. She wears a blue dress with pink flowers on it.

But when Zelda comes out of her room, Link can't believe his eyes. She was beautiful before, but now? This is a different kind of beauty.
Zelda wears her royal dress. It has royal blue and gold on it. Underneath it is white, with long white sleeves on her arms and a tight white shirt underneath. She has loose sleeves with golden marks on the edges, and a golden belt around her waist with a golden Triforce in the middle. Over her wrists are golden bracelets that have another triforce on it. She wears a golden diadem with a red crystal in the front. Her long golden hair goes all the way down her back, and some strands go over her ears. All of it makes her round, emerald-green eyes stand out even more than before.

Link wants to say something but he falls short of words. The Princess sees Link staring, blushes slightly, and then asks.
"What is it Link?"
"Eh-" Link is looking for the right words and his courage. "Nothing, just eh. You look very good, princess."
Link avoids all eye contact with the princess, and his sister just smirks at him.
"Thank you, Link. You look quite good yourself."
Link is now blushing to his fullest capability.
"Thank you, princess."
"No need to call me princess. Zelda will do just fine. For both of you."
"Okay then, Zelda."

The princess is, despite telling them to call her that, caught off guard by Link calling her Zelda. Except for her parents and Katherine, no one calls her Zelda. So hearing her name is something special every time.

Aryll is getting more and more annoyed at Link and Zelda just staring into each other's eyes.
"If you two lovebirds are done, can we get going?"
Both turn even redder than before. Trying to shake it off, they just nod and then go after Aryll towards the throne room again.
