"Link. Everyone thinks you're dead." Zelda repeated

"Not Ganondorf." Link began to mumble "He's the one who trapped me here. He walked in with this weird staff, said some weird incantation, and after that, all I remember is the agonizing pain, then nothing." Link's gaze went blank, as though he was remembering a gruesome scene from his past. "You're right... You're not the Zelda I know... Knew..."

"What do you mean?" Zelda asked "What do you mean by 'Knew'?"

"Princess Zelda, she was murdered by Ganondorf." Tears filled Link's eyes "She wanted to help fight Ganondorf... I wanted her to stay back, she followed me." Tears rolled down Link's face "I didn't know. I didn't know until I heard her scream..."

The Battle of Castle Town, 299 years ago...

Link was fighting harder then he ever had, bokoblins, and Moblins coming from every direction by the thousands. That's when he heard it. A scream rang out over the sound of fighting. Link looked towards the sound, praying that it wasn't who he thought it was, and there was Zelda. Ganondorf had grabbed her by the throat, the Gerudo raised his weapon, a giant razor-edged broadsword, and brought it down. "NOOOOO!" Link yelled as he tried to run at Ganondorf, only to be grabbed by two Moblins. "ZELDA!"

Zelda looked at Link, sadness filled her heart, from what the history books said, the Last Link and Princess Zelda, had been in love. Link had watched the one he loved be killed right in front of him. "What happened when Ganondorf captured you?"

Link stared at the ground "He tortured me." Horror filled Link's eyes "For a year. For a whole year, he would come to my cell, and drag me by the throat down the hall," Link pointed at the hall, the one that had lite up when Zelda entered "There, he would tie me to a chair, and just spend hours, hours on end, hitting me, with a sword, or a whip. The day before he trapped me in those crystals, he threw a new tunic into the cell, and walked away. I was confused at the time, he had locked me in a cell, beaten me for a year, and then he gave me a tunic. As if anyone was ever going to see me again. Then he came back the next day, he trapped me. He had this staff. He cast some weird spell, and... The pain was just unbearable. All... All I could do was scream."

"Link, do you think maybe, he was planning something horrible... Maybe he was going to open the crystals and hurt you again or.... I don't know something bad...." Zelda looked sadly at Link "You're right, we should leave..." Link nodded and grabbed the Master Sword

Zelda and Link began to leave the cave, they started down the hall. Footsteps echoed through the hall. Zelda saw Link's eyes widen. "He's here." Link said, his grip on his sword tightened

"Who's here?"

"Gannondorf."
