06. WILDEST DREAMS
❛ chapter six! ❜
six | wildest dreams—taylor swift
I stand with my arms folded and with my eyes staring into nothingness when Barry tells everyone how he went back in time and created a new timeline. He's done it so many times that he almost sounds like a broken record. The reason for him to be telling this to everyone is that Professor Stein and Jax found a message from the future, forty years from now and it was sent by none other than Barry Allen from the future. Message in which the mention of a war and not trusting anyone, not even himself, is clear and makes me and pretty much everyone realize that we've just touched the tip of the iceberg when it comes to understanding Flashpoint, the changes in the timeline are bigger and worse than we had thought.
Barry even gives details on who has been noticeably affected by the paradox; Cisco, Caitlin, Wally, Dig. That's when everything goes out of control. Like Oliver said, this wasn't the right time to tell everyone about the message from the future. The slightly heated argument is interrupted when Felicity informs us that the Dominators have abducted the President and we seem to get back to business, kind of.
"I'm gonna sit this one out," says Barry, his words taking me by surprise, "you have Supergirl and Violett, they're as fast as I am, get the President, we're gonna talk about this later," he gushes. I feel my stomach roll when I see almost everyone walking off as if nothing's happening, I can't believe they are actually leaving without saying a word, leaving the guy basically unheeded.
"You still trust me, right?" I hear Barry ask to Kara when I get closer, still trying to keep myself together and tell everyone that we have to leave this behind for a little while, we have to be together for the sake of innocent people; Barry then looks at me, he doesn't need to ask me, for I trust him as much as Kara does, "If you need me, I'll be there."
"The lives of innocent people are at stake, Barry," I say, "you can't stay here just because they're mad at you," he lowers his head, "you must come with us. We need you."
"This is crazy!" Oliver's voice booms across the hangar, reverberating every so often and making everyone look over their shoulders at him, "Everyone's going, including Barry! I'm not going without him," his voice gradually becoming softer, clinging onto the speck of hope that maybe they will let him come with us, but—incredibly—they don't. Eventually we leave without Barry and Oliver. I go with the rest, not happy at all; they're supposed to protect people, but they refuse to work as a team when people most need them just because they're mad at each other. That's not how it should work and I'm growing tired of all this fighting each other thing they have going on, it's all they've been doing in the past hours.
I walk in silence behind Firestorm as we walk on the moist soil, its smell coalescing with the pine trees scent behind us. We finally reach the last place the President's tracer signal was caught. We stop dead on our tracks when we reach the building that looks like a factory of some sort, Cisco said something about it being a salt mine.
"Sure we're in the right place?" I hear someone ask, then we all look at the sky when the sound of Supergirl's flight reaches our ears. I see her land almost effortlessly on one knee and straighten herself up to then walk our way.
"This is the last place the President's tracer gave a signal. Must be nearby," her eyes narrow and scan the building and I'm almost positive of what she's doing, "yep, he's in there," she adds, taking long strides.
"How do you know that?" Asks Mick.
"I can see him. Oh, I have x-ray vision," and I was right.
"You can see everyone's bits with those little peepers, huh?" Mick teases and I can't help but feel my cheeks going red. Kara stammers as she tries to formulate an answer but she's as taken aback by his statement as I am, however, the rest of team Legends doesn't seem surprised at all, Sara rolls her eyes and tells Kara to ignore him, I couldn't agree more.
"How did you get the name Heat Wave?" Kara asks and the question piques my curiosity, too.
"I burned my family alive and I like to light things on fire," he says and I can almost hear Sara's face palm. I find myself dumbstruck and with my mouth hanging open, you don't meet someone who's burned their own family alive everyday, right? I agree with Kara when she tells him that it is a colorful back story. The shock on her face is clear as the day. Mick is a very interesting person, after stating he will be calling her Skirt instead of Supergirl just because he thinks it's stupid it's clear to me, "You're a very quiet one; you haven't told us your superhero name, what should we call you?" He shoots at me.
"Fast Track?" I say, but it comes out more like a question for some reason. I'm about to tell them why but I'm interrupted, which tends to happen a lot when I'm around them. Maybe they think I'm a newbie, boy they have no idea.
"Nah, I'm not gonna call you that," Mick continues and almost by instinct I look at Kara, "I'll call you Spark; you know, the Flash and the Spark," he explains with a shrug. It's not as bad as I thought it'd be, honestly. After he makes clear he does not intend to get help from neither of us, we finally make our way in. Once there, we find the President. I hear the man imploring for us to get him out of here in the distance as we haste inside. The whole situation feels rather strange and I confirm it when Jefferson states it out loud. When our eyes meet one of the Dominators, Jax suddenly grabs me by the arm and tells me to check the perimeter in order to be sure if there are more of them outside. I nod and bolt away, running around the salt mine and checking for anything suspicious outside as well as inside the rest of the building, but there's nothing.
Well, that's strange.
I think as I skid to a halt in one of the many abandoned warehouses nearby. Why would they abduct the President to then just leave him in an abandoned factory, being watched by one single Dominator? Why not have a bunch of them guarding him? It doesn't make sense at all, unless. . .
"Unless it's a trap," I say, cursing at myself for not thinking about it earlier as I run my way back. I try to get in touch with everyone inside, pressing my earpiece and frantically repeating that it's a trap, no one replies. When I reach the place I freeze in shock when I see there's no one there, the President, the Dominator, the whole team, they're gone. I'm way too busy trying to understand when flames lick my back and an incredible gust of wind rushes over me before someone punches me square in the face with an unnatural strength, making me roll several feet on the ground. I manage to get on my feet, my hand cupping my face in an attempt to stop the pain that radiates from my cheekbone to half my face; my blood turns cold when I see the whole team with a zombie-like look on their faces. They stand before me and approach slowly, dead eyes looking at me. I reach for my earpiece to let Cisco and Felicity know about this but it's not stuck in my ear anymore. I look at the ground looking for it and I fail, it must have come off when Kara punched me.
Thea Queen shoots an arrow at me and I catch it without difficulty, the sly smile on her lips fading. I shout their names as if they magically will wake up from their daze, but it's clear they're just passengers in this ride. I don't want to fight any of them, but the shuriken Sara Lance throws at me and the look on their faces claim they want to play and not nicely. The only thing I know I have to do is to knock them out and head to S.T.A.R. Labs. I'm not worried about Ray, Jax, Sara, Mick, or Thea, Kara is the one that scares me, she's as fast as I am and I don't have heat vision to retaliate. How to defeat the invincible?
"Don't hold back, Violett," I say to myself, remembering Oliver's words before hell starts.

I speed into the Cortex and lose control at the very last second, ramming into a desk with a bunch of stuff on it. I groan quietly and hear gasps and footsteps approaching with haste. I tap on my bangle to put away my suit, revealing the black pair of jeans and the white blouse I was wearing earlier today—both ruined completely and I make a mental note to strip from my clothes the next time since I don't have many clothes to wear at the moment. My knuckles hurt, my cheek where Kara punched me throbs, the leg Thea shot at stings, the burnt skin on my neck itches, pretty much everything hurts. I try to compose myself and look less affected but the looks on Felicity, Cisco and Caitlin's faces tell me I'm not succeeding.
"What happened?!" Caitlin asks as the three of them manage to get me to a chair. Felicity sprints to a desk and pulls out a bunch of tissues and presses it against my nose, I hadn't even noticed it was bleeding, that'd explain the metallic taste of blood flooding into my mouth.
"You should have seen the other guys," I say jokingly, trying to hide the fact that I feel like dying. I see Caitlin bringing all her medical stuff, "They are being mind controlled, it all was a trap," I say, they're listening but they seem to be more focused on my injuries.
"Lordy, who punched you in the face?" Cisco asks.
"Supergirl," I reply.
"How'd you escape from them?" Caitlin asks, before telling Cisco they have to find a way to sync my suit's telemetry to their devices so that they are able to see my vitals and location from a computer all the time.
"Took me a while to knock them out," I say, wincing when Cisco places the ice pack on my swollen eye, "specially the Kryptonian."
"Don't tell me that's an arrow in your thigh," Felicity cringes a little and lets out a nervous squeal when I hum an answer. I had to break the rest of the arrow to actually run, the rest is still inside. I tell Caitlin to pull it out and that my other injuries are not that serious and convince everyone that I'll heal in a few minutes. Yeah, they all got good licks on me, but so did I. When they finally believe me, I tell them everything that happened. I speed my healing and in matter of ten minutes I'm ready to go, my cheek is still sore and I think I'm donning a wonderful black eye, the injuries Supergirl caused are the ones taking longer to heal. On cue, the whole building trembles and the sound of something similar to an explosion fills the Cortex.
"It's them," I say under my breath, loud enough to be heard by Cisco who's already calling Barry and Oliver and playing the footage from the security cameras outside the facility. I didn't think that electrocuting Supergirl would actually put her down for so long. If only we had kryptonite—I think. In that moment Oliver and Barry walk into the Cortex, vexation flashing in their clear eyes.
"What's going on?" The man in the green leather suit asks.
"Everyone's batshit crazy," Cisco blurts out, "the Dominators have them under some sort of mind control and they went all Kill Bill on Violett," he adds and they look at me.
"We have to find a way to get them back," I say, ignoring the fact that everyone's staring at my black eye, "we need to proceed with caution, they're totally out of it, they won't show mercy at all," I suit up again.
"You're hurt, you can't go out there," Barry says and my mask materializes on command.
"And leave all the fun to you? I don't think so," I smirk, lifting an eyebrow. His lips curling into a smile.
When we get outside we see the chaos rising with every second it passes. The Atom, Firestorm and Supergirl blast at us as soon as they see us and we rush to find cover behind a wall. I guess putting up a fight made them angry because they're not trying to harm us but kill us. We choose a target and the fight starts; I choose Heat Wave and yank the weapon from his hands and use the back of it to hit his jaw, which makes him stumble and fall to the ground. My eyes flick at Oliver, who fights his sister; Sara Lance is coming for me and I decide not to use my speed so that things are fair. I don't get to fight her since Heat Wave is grabbing both my ankles and pulls from them, making me plummet beside him and the blonde has found Oliver. The arsonist jumps on top of me and I struggle to get him off.
"I don't want to hurt you!" I squeak while my nails bury into his scalp, "It's me, Spark!" I try again, obviously he won't listen. I feel his hands wrapping around my neck, I decide it's enough and say goodbye to the thought of being nice; I manage to wrap my legs around him, my fist is covered by lightning before it finds its home on his face, the punch is quick and short, yet it knocks the man out immediately, "That's for burning my hair before," I mumble and admit it felt good to punch him. My eyes happen to glance up and I see the Flash in the midst of falling from the roof of the labs, his body hitting the ground, immediately writhing in pain; in a second I'm rocketing at him and kneeling beside him, "Oh god; Flash? Are you okay?" I ask, my voice coming out way more worried than it should have while my hands stop themselves from making contact with him.
"This is gonna hurt tomorrow," he groans and we see how Dig, Sara and Thea approach, two of them aiming their weapons at us. My eyes grow wide when I see the yellow lightning passing by our attackers, flipping them to the ground. A smile crosses my lips when I realize who that is, the youngest West, "Wally?" Asks Barry, surprise in his voice, he doesn't sound very pleased, though.
"Kid Flash," the boy skids story a halt in front of us, a laugh escaping his lips. The smile on my lips fades when I spot certain red cape waving in the night sky.
"Wally, get down!" I shout but it's too late. Supergirl has already punched him and has sent him up in the air. Barry and I run at him and try to wake him but its useless, he's out cold; Oliver joins us and Barry informs the team inside about Wally's condition while I check on the boy's pulse once again.
"There's a weird signal coming from the salt mine."
Cisco speaks and my hand flies to my new earpiece. The Flash asks if this signal can be jammed, it must be what's controlling them. Unfortunately, Cisco and Felicity cannot do it. We rack our brains trying to find a way to stop all of this, but I don't seem to come with a plan.
"We can't destroy that thing," I say, "I saw it, it's like a stone, a huge red orb. That's what they're using to control them," I add, before Barry tells Oliver to take Wally with him and hold the others off as long as he can inside the bunker under the building.
"If Cisco and Felicity can't shut it down and we can't either, maybe Supergirl can," Barry continues, "I need you to come with me," he says softly to me. I nod and we get on our feet before he shouts this time, "Hey, Supergirl! Let's finally see who's faster."
On our way to the salt mine we almost get killed by her, but we make it. Once inside we play a mixture of catch me if you can and hide and seek, along with a few annoying comments to make her angry. She's fast, not as fast as we are, dodging is hard for her while flying. The second it passes the angrier she becomes and after a while I finally join the Flash and we run side by side up and down the abandoned place.
"Watch my back. If this doesn't work, you'll have to make her chase you, okay?" He gushes out.
"It'll work," I say. He comes to a halt next to the alien stone that's controlling everyone and I take my place a bunch of feet behind it. I see the blonde landing gracefully by the rustic wooden stairs in the rather old factory and then she flies at high speed towards Barry—whose whole body is vibrating—and she flies right through him, crashing against the mind control artifact and destroying it in the process, the pressure in my chest decreases when I see it happen. I speed my way next to Barry and we see how the red glow on Supergirl's forehead disappears as she groans and looks at her surroundings, looking confused as hell.
"Guys, they're back."
Oliver Queen's raspy voice flutters in my head and his statement makes the pressure in my chest disappear completely, while the man in red shoots a smile my way. We walk up to Kara, who apologizes for everything she could have done while on that state over and over again. As the three of us walk slowly out of the salt mine ready to return to the labs, I feel a hand resting on my shoulder.
"How's your eye?" Barry asks, I had even forgotten about it; my mask covers most part of it, by the way he looks at me and how he's slightly leaning forward, I know he wants to check for himself. My mask fades and I use this moment as an excuse to see the green of his eyes, the colour of the sea after a storm. My face yearns his touch, the moment he cups my face with his hand and his thumb gently rubs my cheekbone while examining the affected area, "It's almost gone," he states, a little smile playing on his lips.
And I can only fantasize about that moment.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:
i won't include the rest of the crossover for obvious reasons. you have no idea of how many times i've debated to do so when the scenario of violett engaging in a fight with the good ol' eobard thawne floods into my sucker-for-badass-female-moments mind; i would love to write that like you have no idea - who knows, maybe we'll see some of that in the future but we have to move on guys.
i think we're sticking with either barriolett for these two cuties because i'm not good with ship names so yeah, you can leave a few, go crazy, maybe we'll find the right one with your help! 💑
