Forever and Always

Stevie freshened up herself up after some time and now was on her way to Lindsey's house. She was quiet on the drive over and still had tears rolling down her eyes.

She was so nervous and was just so heartbroken. Stevie didn't understand why Lindsey had taken his own life. She should have pushed to take care of him more. In her mind she was sure that was the answer and not what he did.

Karen pulled into the driveway and they saw an ambulance in the driveway. Once the car was parked, Stevie quickly opened the car door and rushed inside.

Will, Leelee and Stella were standing by the stairs and saw Stevie rushing through the door. Immediately they rushed over to her and threw their arms around her in a group hug.

Stevie's tears came hard once again and she held Lindsey's children close to her.

Will pulled away and said. "They are going to take him soon."

Stevie gave Lindsey's children one more quick squeeze then she rushed upstairs. She needed to see for herself that Lindsey was really gone.

Stevie guessed that Lindsey would be in his and Kristen's bedroom. She walked closer and could hear Kristen sobbing.

Stevie took a deep breath then walked inside.

Kristen saw Stevie in the corner of her eye and looked towards her. "Stevie..." she said in barley a whisper.

Stevie stared at the unmoving figure on the bed, Kristen and the paramedics surrounding him. She took a step towards the figure and finally saw that it really was Lindsey.

"Lindsey..." Stevie whispered, tears streaming down her cheeks.

She then rushed to his side and threw her body over his. His body felt cold but she didn't care.

Kristen told the paramedics to give them some privacy for a few more minutes. They bowed their heads in understanding then walked out of the room to wait in the hallway.

"Lindsey...why did you leave me?" Stevie sobbed. "You didn't have to do this! I would have take care of you!"

Kristen quietly sobbed as she saw the scene before her. Her heart was broken from losing her husband but her heart also broke for Stevie who had just lost her best friend and first love.

Stevie stayed in the same position for a while then the paramedics came back into the room.
Stevie saw them and tighten her her grip on Lindsey's body.

"No! Please don't take him!" She cried.

Kristen walked up to Stevie and put her hand on Stevie's shoulder. "Stevie...they need to take him now." She said softly.

Stevie looked into Kristen's eyes, both of them in tears. Stevie then looked back at Lindsey; she took one last look then she bent down and kissed his cold lips. She pulled away and whispered so only Lindsey could hear.
"I love you baby. Please take care of Angel for me."

Stevie stood straight up and moved to the side to let the paramedics take Lindsey's body away. She and Kristen then followed the paramedics downstairs and followed them outside towards the waiting ambulance.

Kristen went to comfort Leelee and Stella while Will stood there trying to be strong for his mother and little sisters. They watched the paramedics load Lindsey's body into the ambulance.

Karen held Stevie close trying her best to comfort her. But of course, Stevie still felt the ache in her heart and she knew it would never go away. She felt like a part of her was missing. She never would have thought of a world where Lindsey wasn't in it.

Finally the ambulance pulled away and the grieving family were left behind.

The news about Lindsey Buckingham's death spread like wild fire throughout the Fleetwood Mac fandom. All their fans were heartbroken and in shock of Lindsey's passing.

They didn't know about his Alzheimer's diagnosis until now, and didn't understand why he took his own life.

All the fans from around the world sent Kristen, her children, Stevie and the rest of the band all their condolences and love throughout social media.

Two weeks had passed since Lindsey's funeral.
Stevie had been there for Kristen and Kristen was there for Stevie.

Their friendship becoming much stronger since losing the man they loved.

The day of Lindsey's death, Kristen had found some envelopes that contained letters written in Lindsey's handwriting.

There were five; on the outside of the envelopes read five names.

Kristen
Will
Leelee
Stella
Stevie

Kristen gave Stevie hers but Stevie just handed it over to Karen. She couldn't bare reading it at that moment.

Kristen had opened hers that night; she wanted answers. For Will, Leelee and Stella it took them until after Lindsey was buried to open and read theirs.

Stevie however still couldn't bring herself to do it and the envelope stayed close to her on the nightstand by her bed.

It was now the third week since Lindsey was gone and Stevie laid on her side, staring at the wall. Her tears rolling down her face.

Karen tried to get Stevie to eat something but to no avail. Karen grew concerned for Stevie's health; it was as if Stevie was losing the will to live. Just like Stevie's health scare before, Stevie was losing weight at a alarming rate and Stevie slept most of the time. Stevie refused to get out of bed unless she had to, which she only got up to use the bathroom then she would get back under the covers.

Karen sighed sadly as she failed once again to get Stevie to eat. She knew she would have to call Stevie's doctor soon if Stevie kept on like this.

Karen hung her head then she touched Stevie's shoulder and said. "I love you very much. Please don't give up Stevie. Everyone is worried about you."

Stevie had her eyes open staring at the the wall again. She heard Karen's voice and felt her touch, but she did nothing but close her eyes.

Karen knew that Stevie had just shut her down; Karen had tears in her eyes as she got up from Stevie's bed and took the tray of untouched food then walked back to the kitchen.

As soon as she knew Karen was out of the room, Stevie opened her eyes and her tears began again.

She felt as if she couldn't go on without Lindsey. She wanted him back in her life and it hurt her more knowing it's not possible for Lindsey to return to her. So, she wanted to join him wherever he was.

After a while, her eyes settled down on the envelope with her name on it. Suddenly, she felt this extreme pull towards it. It wouldn't go away and she gave in.

Stevie sat up against her pillows then wiped her tears away; she then grabbed the envelope and her glasses.

She put on her glasses then opened the envelope and pulled the letter that was inside.

Stevie took a few deep breaths already feeling the tears returning. She began to read and her tears streamed down her cheeks as she read the whole letter.

My dearest Stephanie,

I love you with all my heart. When the time comes, I'm going to be thinking of you, my children and Kristen, and if I can, the one I want to think about is you in my finals seconds on this earth. You are always going to be my first and only love. As I told Kristen in her letter, I loved Kristen in a different way and I know she understands. But you Steph were the one for me; you are my soulmate.

Please forgive me for what I have done but I had to do it. Because of my love for you and my family, I didn't want you all to see me at my lowest when I truly couldn't remember who anyone was or who I was. I didn't want that at all. I didn't want that to be my fate.

I didn't want to have to be put into a home or facility. I didn't want to fade away and become an empty shell of the person I used to be. I didn't want you to see me like that.

I wanted to do this in my own terms and make my own decisions while I still could. So, this was my decision and my choice. My head is crystal clear and I know exactly what I'm about to do.

As I write this, I know of the pain I will be leaving behind but please Stephanie, please understand why I did this.

I also want you to continue to live your life to the fullest. Continue to make music and perform. I know in this moment, you may feel that you couldn't do such a thing but please, for me and for yourself, keep on living and don't give up. Live for the both us!

Wherever I may be, I will be watching over you and my family and I will be there when you take the stage again. I want you to sing and twirl around on stage and I will be waiting for that moment Steph, so don't let me down.

I love you so so much Stephanie. Always remember that.

Love forever and always,
Lindsey

P.S.
I will take very good care of Angel for you. We will wait for you when your time comes. Which, I hope isn't for a very long time.
I know you still have a lot to share with the world.

Stevie sobbed as she crushed the letter to her chest. She slumped down on her bed and curled into a ball.

"Lindsey! I miss you my love! I miss you!" Stevie sobbed.

Stevie wore herself out and laid on her side; she read the letter over and over again until she has memorized it.

Stevie felt like giving up before reading that letter, but now that she knew how Lindsey felt, understanding washed over her.

It still hurt and she would never be the same again, but for Lindsey, she would learn to move on and she made a promise to him right then and there.

She sat up, her tears had stopped; she then looked up and said. "I promise you Linds, I won't give up. I will be back on that stage and I will perform for you. I know you will be watching. I love you Lindsey. I love you. Forever and always."
