For church, my mom forced me to dress in a yellow sun dress with white flats. I honestly felt like I could hate her, but she was only doing it because she knew I was dating Benny now. She curled my hair to perfection and even put a little makeup on me. By the time she finished dolling me up, a murderous glare was permanently stuck on my face.
"He's downstairs right now," Mom informed me, sending me a wink. She stood in my doorway.
I crossed my arms, glaring at her, but her smile didn't fade a bit. "Too bad I'm not leaving this room."
"Oh, come on, you look great!" she insisted.
"No, I don't," I grumbled. "I'm not girly like you, momma, I don't wear this kind of stuff. When he sees me, he's just gonna laugh."
"I bet he doesn't," she countered. "But we're about to leave, so let's go."
I rolled my eyes, sighing. "I really, really don't like you."
"Suck it up, quit being a baby," she laughed.
"I look ridiculous!" I exclaimed. "And I have to have my hands wrapped up, too. None of this goes together at all. People are gonna look at me and think, is she a boxer or is she girly? And the answer is not the girly one, if anything! I look stupid."
Mom's smile finally disappeared, and she rolled her eyes. "Just come on. Get it over with. Nobody's gonna care what you're wearing."
"I'm wearing my Jackie Robinson jersey with it then," I mumbled, finally standing up from my bed. "And you cannot stop me."
"You left it downstairs in the living room," Mom informed me, a smirk forming on her lips. "Go get it, then."
"Mom!" I cried, plopping down on the bed again. "Oh my God." I sighed deeply. "You're really trying to kill me. Just as soon as I get the guy of my dreams, too! That's just cold!"
Mom laughed, shaking her head at me. "If you don't get up, I'm gonna get Luke to pick you up and take you down there."
I sighed, hardening my glare, so I was basically glaring daggers at everything, especially Mom. I stood up and followed her downstairs. Sure enough, Benny was in the living room, sitting on the couch with Luke and Skylar.
I covered my face as if he couldn't see me that way. When we reached the bottom of the stairs, I finally uncovered my face to see that Benny was already approachig me. When he saw the murderous look on my face, his eyes widened.
"Whoa, you don't look too happy," he said with a small chuckle.
I looked him up and down. He was wearing a black tuxedo and his hair was slicked back. He looks amazing!
"Yeah, but I do look ridiculous," I muttered. "I'm sorry I look so crazy right now, my mom forced me."
Benny smiled, shaking his head. "It's different for you, but you look lovely."
"Lovely," I repeated in a whisper, my glare finally being replaced with a growing smile. "Thank you."
"Any time," he replied. "And if it makes you feel any better, my mom and Liz forced me to dress like this too. They want me to impress you, I guess."
I laughed, nodding. "Hey, it's working. You look really good. You could probably pull anything off."
Benny's smile widened. "Well, look at you, princess. You take my breath away."
I giggled, covering my face with my hands. "Oh, God. Thank you, Benny."
He smiled, grabbing onto my hand lightly. "Am I doing this right?" he whispered. "Like, this is what people do in relationships, right? I don't wanna mess this up."
I laughed loudly, shaking my head at him. "You're doing it right, you dork. Just be yourself, that's all."
Benny sighed in relief. "Okay. All right. I'll just be myself."
I smiled up at him, using my free hand to lightly touch his cheek. "Yeah. That's it."
"Okay, guys, time to go!" Mom shouted, nearing the door. She gave me a wide-eyed look, signaling that my dad was coming, and I immediately stepped away from Benny. I thought he realized why immediately.
I looked over to see Luke and Skylar standing up, smiling at each other. My Jackie Robinson jersey was sprawled over the back of the couch they had previously been sitting on.
"Luke, could you throw me my jersey?"
Luke grabbed the jersey and threw it at me. I caught it, sending him a nod to thank him. I put it on over my dress, leaving the buttons undone like I usually did.
"Hey, I'm driving with Skylar because there wouldn't be enough room in the car," Luke informed me and Benny. "You guys wanna ride with me?"
"Yes!" I exclaimed, then clapped my hands over my mouth.
Luke laughed. "Kayla and Benny are riding with me!" he informed our parents.
With that, we all exited the house, and Benny and I hopped in the back of Luke's black Mustang.
---
After church, we got back home in a good mood. Benny and I went up to my room and sat down on the bed.
"I really wanna get out of these clothes," I murmured.
"So do I," Benny agreed, chuckling. "I mean my clothes, of course. But you can right now. Is Bertram at the sandlot?"
"Yeah, I think so."
"He should've came to church with us like he did last time," he responded.
"Yeah, he said he wanted to but he had to go to his dad's house early to pack his stuff," I explained. "His aunt will be here soon, and he'll be moving in with her when she gets here."
Benny nodded, looking down at his lap. "I don't know much about what's been going on with him, but I think it's good for him."
"It is good for him," I confirmed, nodding. "Trust me."
Benny sent me a small smile. "I believe you. You're a great friend to him, you know. You're a great friend to everyone."
"Everyone deserves a friend like that," I replied, nodding. "I try to be the one just in case they don't already have that person."
"I'm really lucky to have you."
I smiled over at him, my stomach doing somersaults. "I don't think you realize how long I've liked you."
"I think I liked you the entire time, I just wouldn't admit it to anyone, not even myself," he returned. "I didn't understand then, but I do now."
"Understand what?"
He shrugged. "Like, that one day I threw you over my shoulder, then Luke took you, all I could think about was how cute you were. Then the day at the fair, when you and that guy kissed, I got mad as hell. I realize now that I was jealous. And everything like that."
I rested my head on his shoulder, staring ahead of myself. "I just can't believe you're finally mine."
Benny let his head rest over mine. "That's exactly how I feel. You may not believe me, but it hasn't even been a day and I can honestly say I've probably never been this happy in my life."
I giggled lightly. "Same. I just hope this lasts, and I hope nothing gets in between us."
"We will last, and nothing will come between us," he assured me. "I won't let it be any other way. I promise."
On account of how much I had been lied to in my previous relationships, I didn't really believe him. I didn't think he was a liar, I just thought he didn't know what was ahead of him, and he'd end up changing his mind about everything. He was going to realize that I was not as good as he thought, and he was going to get tired of me. I knew that was how it would turn out . . . I was sure of it.
Benny broke into my thoughts by kissing the top of my head softly. "I really like you in that dress, though."
A smile broke onto my face again and I stod up, leaving Benny alone on the bed. "Well, admire it while you can, because it's about to come off."
I stood in front of Benny, holding my arms out and spinning around to give him a full view of the dress. He laughed and shook his head. When I stopped to face him again, he gently grabbed the back of my knees, pulling my body towards him. I walked in between his legs, staring down at him.
"I didn't mean the dress itself," he said. "If you weren't in it, I wouldn't care about it."
My smile widened and I bent down a bit to quickly peck Benny's lips. "All right, then you better take a picture or something, because I won't be in it for much longer."
As soon as I finished my last sentence, Benny pulled out his phone with a smirk. "Okay."
My eyes widened. "I didn't mean it literally!"
Benny stood up, his smirk turning into a smile as he pulled up his camera. "Too bad. You made the suggestion, so now I have to."
"No!" I exclaimed, laughing and backing away from him.
"Yes," he replied, laughing and staring into the screen of his phone.
I held my hand up in front of my face. "Good luck getting my face in one."
"Too late, I'm recording a video," he responded with a smirk.
My mouth dropped open and, finally, I just shook my head, smirking. "Okay, I'm gonna go change now."
---
About an hour had passed since I changed into a pair of red Adidas gym shorts and a black long-sleeved shirt, leaving my hair in its loosely curled state. Benny and I spent most of that time in my room, just talking about everything. He ran to his house quickly to dress into something more comfortable, though, taking a quick shower too like I should have.
Benny lay on his back, his head resting on my pillow, and I lay on my back sideways on the bed, resting my legs over his stomach.
"Don't you wanna go to the sandlot?" I asked, looking over at him with a raised eyebrow. "I just realized you haven't brought it up since I told you Bertram was there."
Benny shook his head. "Today, I think I want to have a free day, and I want to spend it with you."
My eyes widened at his words. "What? Those words did not just come out of your mouth."
"Actually, they did," he replied, chuckling.
I immediately felt bad. People were going to think that I was holding him back from what he loved.
"Benny, you don't have to do that," I responded slowly. "I love baseball too, you know."
"No, I really just want to have a free day today," he insisted. "And I really want to spend that free day with you. We've already missed most of the game anyway."
"Wow," I breathed, hardly able to believe he actually felt that way. It just didn't add up. Baseball was his entire life, and I highly doubted I could change that, even if I wanted to. He was the most excited about playing baseball every day, so why was he all of a sudden so casually deciding to take a break? It didn't make sense to me.
Benny leaned up, moving my legs so they were on top of his legs. He reached over and, with ease, moved my entire body so I was lying the right way on the bed. He lay back down to the right of me, both of our heads on my pillow.
"If I could only do this for the rest of the day, I wouldn't mind at all," Benny said, wrapping his right arm around my waist. He kissed my cheek and I giggled.
"One day, you're gonna end up killing me," I replied, a girly smile set on my face.
"How so?"
"By being so cute and sweet," I answered, giggling again. "I'm still in shock on account of the fact that I'm actually dating you. Like . . . it feels so surreal. I'm not dreaming, right?"
"I hope not, because that would mean I'm dreaming too," he replied, chuckling. "I feel the same, though. I'm glad my first girlfriend and kiss gets to be you."
I chuckled lightly. "I wish I could say the same."
Benny shifted so he was lying on his side, able to stare at me. "All right, then we won't focus on first times. We'll focus on last times. I'll also be glad when you're my last girlfriend and my last kiss."
A huge smile formed on my face and I slapped my hand over my mouth. In a slightly muffled voice, I replied, "You didn't just say that. Oh my God, that's so sweet!"
Benny laughed at my reaction, the sound heavenly. "I guess honesty can be sweet sometimes. I can only hope that it turns out that way though."
My smile was still visible but smaller. "I hope so too, Benny, truly. It's about time I get with a good boy. I think I'll have more luck because of that, though. Let's hope."
Benny leaned over and pressed his lips onto mine. After a few seconds, he broke the kiss and replied in a soft voice, "No. Let's make it happen."
I smiled at him. "Yeah, let's do that instead. Your plan sounds better."
Benny and I lay in comfortable silence for a while, before he randomly asked, "Hey, how's my kissing?"
I laughed loudly. "Surprisingly good for a first timer, Benny."
"Yes!" he crowed, dragging out the s.
I laughed harder, shaking my head. I already knew that I would love to spend the rest of my life with this kid.

Sorry this chapter is sucky. But I'm trying to put more Benny & Makayla moments now. xD They need a ship name. o_o
I'm thinking about writing a River Phoenix fan fiction soon. Well, I've already witten a few, but I'm thinking about posting one. It probably won't be very soon though. Would any of you read it if I did?
I got two baseball jerseys for my birthday, & I'm in LOVE. I put the pictures of me in them on here, so tell me what you think. (;
Okay, this has nothing to do with anything, but I'm currently listening to Pillowtalk by Zayn on repeat. I've never been a directioner, but I liked their music, & I didn't expect Zayn's new music to be that good, but JESUS! *heart eyes, heart eyes* LISTEN TO IT, FR!
Stay gold.
