Mommy's Thirty-Nine Year Old Secret
Michael's POV
Mother was known to have a post- thanksgiving breakfast the next day, so all of the family stayed at the Hayvenhurst home for the weekend. It's very rare we all see each other often so when we get together it's usually for the weekend anyway.
I woke up in my old room, my wife's arm clutched around my chest and her ear on my heart. I look around the room to see all my old posters of Diana Ross and Elizabeth Taylor, giggling at how they were so old they curled in the corners. Rayne flashed her light eyes at me with a smirk, "good morning" she said.
I grin pecking her nose softly, "good morning, you seem like you slept well." I reply watching her sit up to stretch.
"I did, although I don't know how we made things work in this full size bed of yours back in the day." She chuckles, her curl falling on her face.
"Yeah I know right, it seemed a lot bigger when we were kids." I groan.
Camille slowly creeped in the room a pillow and blanket in hand, her eyes still shut. She lays on the floor giving a low yawn.
"Your cousins wake you up?" Rayne asks.
Camille gives a nod, stuffing her face as far as she can into the pillow. "They're so loud.." she muffles. She brings her blanket over her head as I get up to cut on the light.
"Well, baby girl, grandma's about to start making breakfast." I said tossing on a shirt.
"Well wake me when it's ready. It's too early." She groans.
"At least get in daddy's bed, that way you won't hurt your back laying on the floor." Rayne stands grabbing one of my old shirts and shorts out of my drawer. All the clothes she packed, and she still decided to wear my things.
I watch her brush her teeth and push her thick hair into a bun then grab her hand to walk downstairs. We were met by my sister Janet and our nephew Siggy in the living room.
"Good morning" Rayne smiles. I give Janet a small smirk before heading into the kitchen.
She follows me in with a grin, "it's so good to see you two happy again." She says.
"It feels good." I smile grabbing a glass of orange juice.
"She's doing a lot of grinning.. what you'd do in mother's house last night?" Janet smirks.
My face practically turns red at her question as I giggle awkwardly, "we didn't do anything last night!"
"Mmhm, come on tell Janet, Jehovah will forgive you." She giggles.
I walk back towards the living room, "there's nothing to tell." I chuckle, "we just talked about everything and we settled it." I walk out to see my son sitting in Siggy's lap watching whatever child show he could find seeing as how we didn't carry his alphabet tape everywhere we went.
"Where's Camille?" Siggy asks.
"In my room sleeping, she's not much of a morning person.. she said the rest of her cousins were too loud." I explain sitting down.
Mother comes down a few moments later with Rebbie and 'Toya. "Good morning everyone, Michael are you the only one of your brothers awake?"
I nod "as always mother."
She shakes her head, usually if we were younger she'd wake ALL of us up at 7 in the morning to do chores. I guess that early bird time stuck with me.
It felt good to be able to take a weekend away from work and spend it with family. I never got that chance to introduce Jr to his cousins or even have the time to talk to Rayne about our marriage, this break helped me do just that.
Camille finally walked downstairs around quarter to ten, her hair all over her head. "She's arisen!" I joke.
She gives me a slight smirk, stopping herself from laughing. "Where's grandma? I wanna help her cook."
"In the kitchen with your mother and aunts.." I point behind me. Jermaine flops next to me with a deep sigh, "something wrong?" I ask.
"Yeah, my wife and I... I think we're about to call it quits." He shakes his head.
"Oh why??" Janet asks, sitting on the chair beside us.
"It's the little stuff! Like yesterday, we were getting dressed to come over here, she asked me if she looked fat in her dress. She told me to be honest!"
I chuckle, "Jermaine please tell me you didn't.."
Janet laughs out loud, "whatever you said.. you deserved it.."
Randy sits beside Janet, shaking his head. "I told you don't mess with that girl. Alejandra gets mad over the craziest stuff. Not to mention if she's willing to date my brother after dating me... that's just wrong."
"It gets even worse," Jermaine adds, "she bought the wrong shade of lipstick with her, so she started crying.. then got upset because I didn't understand the big deal."
I grin, "she's having a kid.. congrats." I pat his knee.
Janet giggles, "I was just gonna say.. that sounds like a pregnant woman.."
Jermaine leans on his back, "aw another kid. How did I not catch that?"
I laugh as that familiar smell of breakfast breezes by me, "smells like they need some help in there, I'll be back." I prompt myself to leave, grabbing my son as well.
"Hey ladies, smells good in here." I say cautiously looking around the kitchen. I pass by Camille who was sitting at the counter holding a cinnamon roll to her lips and I took a piece from it before sitting next to her.
"Dad!" She scolds. Causing me to chuckle.
Rayne giggles quietly, "your daughter is hiding from her cousins, Stevanna and jaafar."
Rebbie smirks, cracking another egg in the skillet, "aw why Camille?" She asks.
"Stevanna keeps trying to put make up on me and jaafar is just annoying." We all laugh at her.
"Well Camille, you've got to let them know what's bothering you instead of hiding from them." My mother chimes.
"She's right, you can't just dodge your cousin's that's like dodging your brother." I say turning him to face her.
"I'd never dodge Mikey, unless he's taking off his diaper or trying to wrestle me."she says.

Rayne's POV
Katherine's thanksgiving weekend was beautiful. It was so nice to see the family and see how well Michael Jr liked everyone, but it was even better to be home. Especially now because Michael and I were honestly on better terms.
Camille drags her suitcase in her room and unpacks as I take Michael's into his. Michael helps by carrying his toy truck in with him, placing it on the floor by my feet.
"Hey, I'm gonna be in my office if you need anything, ok?" Michael peeks his head in Jr's room.
"Ok.. what are you working on?" I ask, folding a shirt.
"The album... and I've got a conference call with my brothers and David Guest about this anniversary special." He smirks. He knew I loved when he and his brothers performed together.
My mouth dropped in excitement, he chuckles. "Don't get too excited it's only a 30 minute set."
"I don't care! I'm so happy you guys are working together!" I grin, grabbing his hands.
He rolls his eyes, "I don't understand why? It's always such a struggle to work with them."
"I know it is, but the outcome is always crazy good. You've gotta admit! Besides this will help you and your family get closer.."
"It's not like it's ever worked before.. Ray you've gotta accept that not all big families are super close. We love each other but-"
I sigh quietly, lowering my eyes to the ground a small smirk playing on my lips. "You're right. I'm sorry.."
He frowns quizzically, "why am I right?" He grins, "are you sick??" He asks playfully feeling my forehead.
I giggle, "stop, I'm serious. You're right.. I can't make you and your siblings keep in touch with each other. I'm sorry." I smile.
"Ok.. I'm gonna go to the office." He says kissing my forehead.

A few days later, Michael, the kids, and I had gotten back to the flow of things. Camille was back in school, Jr was learning to talk, Michael was back in his office, and I was slowly but surely getting back in my art studio. I had missed painting for so many years, I decided to go to my favorite public studio, instead of staying in the ranch.
As I was quietly humming to myself, while painting a picture of my two kids sitting together, sharing a small moment with each other, a woman about my age tapped my shoulder. I turned around and it felt like I had seen a ghost. I jolted slightly, "oh my god, you scared me.. you look just like my mother." I chuckle.
The woman laughs, "oh.. I didn't mean to scare you I'm sorry.. but I have been trying to figure out how to get in contact with you for years!"
I frown, "have we met?" I ask.
Suddenly, this woman's warm smile drifted off and she began moving uneasily. "No, we haven't.. and there's really only one way to say this so please don't freak out when I say this.."
I back away slowly, "ok." I've never been approached by any of Michael's fans, so I'm guessing that's what was happening. Even fans of mine who simply loved me for being with Michael never creeped me out..
She gives a heavy sigh, "Tammi Brent-Fleeson was my mother.. and to my understanding she's your mother too?" She asks.
I frown, "Yeah, Tammi is my mother but... she's only had one kid..."
"No I know, no one knew about me except for her. She gave me up. I have the papers.. I've been trying to find her for years but I heard she died. I've got her death certificate, my birth certificate and everything-" she continues.
My mind was so frazzled, I could barely stand up. Flopping in the seat behind me, "ok wait. What's your name?" I ask. Closing my eyes to counteract the dizziness I was enduring.
"My name is Alonna Brent. I'm 39.. my adoptive parents kept my last name so I could find my birth parents and it's been a long journey but- I think I've finally reached a turning point. I'm your sister..." she smiles nervously.
Michael had always told me to watch out for those crazy people that will say anything to get next to you. I was honestly afraid, i didn't know what to think. I breathed heavily into my hands and running my hand through my hair. She favored my mother a lot, I give her a once over trying to hide the fact I was completely overwhelmed.
"I don't want anything from you... I know you're married to Michael Jackson and it's probably really hard to honestly trust me. But seriously, I just want to connect the dots on my family. I know it's a lot to take in so here's my contact info, when you're ready to talk about it... I'll be here."
She hands me a small card with her number and address. I take it reading it closely, "you're 39? My parents were together since I was 5..."
"My dad and our mom got together on a whim... I was actually the reason for the break up.."
I wave my hands, "please.. the 'OUR mom' thing.. it's just too early. I need some time to process this." I sigh, I politely dismiss myself and head back home.
My mind was so loud compared to the silence I exhumed walking into the house. My eyes lowered to the ground in thought, trying to process what just happened.
Michael meets me in our room, his eyes glued to a book he's been focused on for a few days. "Hey babe, how was painting?" He says not taking his eyes off the book.
I sigh, sitting beside him and leaning my head on his shoulder. "Eye opening."
"Well that's good.. what was so eye opening?" He asks leaning his head onto mine.
"I.. I have a sister." I sigh.
"What?" Michael says placing his book on his lap. "A sister? What are you talking about?"
"I have a sister.. my mother had a kid.. and never told me."
"Well how do you know she's really your sister.. you remember what I told you-"
"I know, I know.." I interrupted, "but she had paperwork. She had my mother's death certificate and her name is on her birth certificate.... I have a younger sister."
Michael exhales, "wow... how young?"
"39. Her name is Alonna Brent. She gave me her number to contact her when I wanted to talk about it."
The quiet between us was all the silence I needed, trying to understand what just happened. My life change in two seconds and I never would've thought this would happen to me. I was pissed at my mother for keeping my only sibling away from me. But thinking on how my mother was back then, I was happy Alonna didn't have to endure what I did.
Michael cautiously broke the silence, "are you gonna talk to her?"
"I don't know..." I fiddle with the phone number in my hand. My kids have an aunt, my husband has a sister in law, I have a sister..
