Chapter 14: Pop Up Guess Who

Thanksgiving had come and gone and it seemed like the weeks had gone by pretty fast and Dave was excited about that. Tonight was his last show for his east coast leg and not only that but after this show he and his boys were going to celebrate and call it a wrap. Then it was straight home to be with his woman and his little girls. He needed some daddy daughter time with the both of them. Christmas was around the corner and their first one as a family so he wanted it to be special and memorable. The girls were even waiting on him to come home just so they could put up the Christmas tree and decorate it together and he couldn't wait. April had let him know that she already had the tree but she had gone out and bought decorations with Kairi. All they had to do now was some last minute Christmas shopping. Dave had already done some shopping of his own curtesy of the internet and stopping at stores along the way while on tour. Those packages he had gotten sent to his parent's house. There was one particular gift he couldn't wait to get his hands on though.

Any, who it was his last show and he was ready to get shit cracking. He had wished April could come out and see him at least once. He wanted her on stage hyping him up and rapping along with him and his music. He wanted to be able to look back at her, wink, and have her see him live in effect on how it really goes down at his concerts. He wanted her to see his fans rapping along and chanting his name. He wasn't Chris Brown but he was Dave East and he could put on a hell of a show. Honestly he wanted his ride or die by his side. He wanted to see that proud look in her eyes. The same one she had when she was looking at him at his listening party. With this being his last show and him letting his so-called boys go he wanted April to be there just to show niggas what he really had at home waiting for him every night.

Dave wanted niggas to know that yes she might've dated Chris once upon a time but she was his fiancé and tried and true. She repped him to the fullest and she was his number one fan. He wanted them to see how she really got down and that she wasn't this snooty conceited stuck up bitch who thought the world revolved around her and just because she had money it didn't mean she was all about it. But he knew that no matter how bad he wanted her to be there with him tonight that she couldn't be and he was ok with that. He was still going to put on his best performance and celebrate like always and be home before she could wake up.

"Aye yo bruh we gotta get rolling for sound check. The rest of those niggas can meet up with us later on but we gotta go" Shooter said as he checked the time on his phone. They were all in Dave's room pretty much chilling and having a pregame. At the moment it was just Dave, Errol, Shooter, and Bully and honestly the four of them liked it that way. This shit had put some shit in perspective for Dave. He really didn't need the whole hood. His little brother and his day ones were all he needed. He liked to be able to chill with family where the vibes were good and people weren't asking twenty one questions trying to get in his business.

"Bet" Dave said and tossed his drink back then stood up and made his way to his bag with his fit for the night in it. The four of them double checked to make sure they had everything for the night then left out the room and went down to the elevator and met up with security. This security team had consisted of Cecil and three other legit men that he could rely on. Of course niggas that he had put on for security hadn't been where he needed them to be but at least he still had a few ones left.

"Aye yo can somebody call and let them niggas know we out and to be on time so they can get back stage" Dave asked as he looked between his brothers. He could care less how they got there or if they made it honestly. He was through with them.

"On it" Shooter said and sent out a group text as usual. By now they all knew what type of time Dave was on and they knew the routine. He had been slowly pulling himself away from the equation when it came to his so-called boys right along with Shooter and Bully. Errol ass had been off them so he was around his brothers and that was it.

Before making it out of the hotel Dave stopped and took a few pictures with a couple of fans then went about his business and hopped inside his already waiting sprinter. They had done their usual rolled up, turned on some old skool music, and talked shit. Before they knew it they were at their location The Underground in Fillmore North Carolina being ushered inside the building and taken straight to the dressing room where they had his favorite drinks Belair, Hennessy, and bottled water amongst finger foods set out for him. Sound check over and done with he changed his clothes into his fit for the night while the rest of his boys finally made it and his headliners performed their sets. It was going to be a packed house tonight. Then again all his shows had been packed. He sat down waiting for his time to grace the stage while his headliners continued to perform and just chilled and vibed out with his homies on this last hooray. Dave rolled himself a fat ass blunt, opened a fresh bottle of Belair, then picked up his phone and went straight to his and April's text thread. It was now a routine for them to talk to each other before every show. At this point it was a ritual. He wasn't going to step on stage without talking to her first.

Ma👸🏾💍🍑👅: Hey ma

He shot her a text.

Papi🤴🏽🍆👅: Hey Papi I was just getting ready to hit you up.

Ma👸🏾💍🍑👅: Oh so you was thinking bout a nigga 😛

He replied smiling. He could feel niggas eyes on him but he didn't give a fuck and that's why he was cleaning up shop anyway. Niggas were a bunch of coat riding haters and he was starting to see the shit more and more. Honestly it seemed like since he had gotten into a relationship with April they had been acting extra funny but he was letting shit slide not wanting to think that they were on some hating shit.

Papi🤴🏽🍆👅: When aren't I 😝 I know ya bout to go and do ya thing.

Ma👸🏾💍🍑👅: You already know but a nigga wishes you were here tonight 😫

Papi🤴🏽🍆👅: Aww Papi now you know if I could I would but I gotta hold down the fort and take care of our lil girls but you know I'm there standing in the crowd in the spirit cheering you on as usual.

Ma👸🏾💍🍑👅: I know ma. I can't wait to make it home to y'all.

Papi🤴🏽🍆👅: We can't wait either. You got Love Bug on my damn heels asking what time is her daddy coming home. She's ready to put up the tree like NEOW‼️

Ma👸🏾💍🍑👅: 😂 tell her not to worry I'll be home soon. Since my wife is the connect I'll be on the PJ early morning and home in no time.

Papi🤴🏽🍆👅: What's mine is yours Papi and we can't wait 🥰

See this is the shit that made Dave love her even more. She never acted as if she was better than him or mentioned that her money was longer than his. They paid no attention to that type of shit. It was literally what's mines is yours and vice versa. Only thing is he didn't want her money he had his own.

Ma👸🏾💍🍑👅: Say less but I'm a let you go. It's bout time to hit the stage. I love you ma 😘

Papi🤴🏽🍆👅: I love you too Papi. Go do ya thing. I hope you have a great show tonight. North Carolina better be ready for Harlem's finest 😝

Dave smiled down at his phone, finished off his blunt, then stood up and straightened his outfit out. His boys went ahead of him to go fill up the stage leaving behind him, Errol, Shooter, and Bully. They always left out together. Dave looked at his brothers and smiled as they all grabbed their shot glasses filled with Henny and stood together.

"Tonight's the last show. I just want to say thanks for riding this shit out with me. Thanks for being by my side, never faltering, enjoying the wave with me, making sure shit gets done, and keeping me sane and safe. I pray that this is another amazing event, the crowd is hype, and that I get a warm welcome. Thank you Allah for allowing me to continue to do what I do and being able to provide for my family, putting my family on, and allowing my family to come along this journey with me Ameen" Dave prayed like he did before every show.

The boys all smiled and nodded together. "Ameen they all said, raised their glasses, and tossed them back.

"Do ya thing tonight big bro and thanks again for inviting me" Errol said and smiled at him and Dave nodded his head. He really didn't have to thank him. Dave was happy that he had even decided to come along. Errol had really enjoyed this time with his brothers and they had treated him like he had never left. Let alone they had enjoyed his company just the same and was happy he was back around and in the mix.

"Word bro have fun out there. You know we'll be right behind you" Bully said.

"True shit end this shit on a good note. We know what type of time ya on and soon other niggas will too but until then go show Fillmore Carolina who the fuck Dave East is" Shooter said hyping him up.

"Bet let's get shit cracking" Dave said. They put their glasses down, walked out of the room, and headed for the stage. Before they could even make it out to the stage all they could hear was the crowd chanting Dave's name which only made his day even better. The closer they got the louder the crowd got. They were all hype and that's all Dave needed to get him right for the night. It was a natural high. He was high off life at the moment. Bully, Shooter, and Errol walked out and then Dave strolled on stage with a smile.

"North Carolina what's cracking" Dave shouted into the mic hype as fuck seeing the crowd mixed with both men and women. Music was never his first choice but this right here was why he loved it. He got to create music and perform for a crowd.

Meanwhile...

"I'm so happy Papi ain't Facetime me. He'd a been checking my whole ass background trying to figure out where I was at and who the fuck I'm with" April said and let out a sigh of relief as she and Ebony were being ushered through the back entrance of The Underground with security in tow.

"Hell yea he'd a been all over ya damn heels with twenty one questions at that" Ebony said and laughed knowing how Dave was. He'd be inspecting and asking all types of questions until he got to the bottom of it.

"Exactly...you didn't tell brother we were coming right" April looked over at Ebony and asked.

Tonight they were pulling a good ole fashion pop up on their men and brothers. It wasn't to catch them doing anything dirty or to cause problems well maybe a few little problems. Besides they didn't have those types of issues in their relationships. April had wanted to surprise Dave for his last show and she and Ebony also wanted to see firsthand who were Dave's so-called homies that weren't on the home team. From what Bully had told Ebony their boys seemed to be more interested in them and April's pockets instead of being on the road with their boy and neither April and Ebony was feeling that shit. So they hopped on the jet and made shit happen. When April said her eyes and ears were open she meant that shit. Like she said everybody was guilty until proven innocent and that's just what it was. Like she said there could be a chance that she didn't know who was after her so she was looking at Dave's people sideways too. Besides that she was happy that she would be able to make Dave's night. She knew how bad he really wanted her there. So she was going to behave until his day was done and over with before she started her shit.

"Bet I actually want to watch him perform and enjoy my first ever Dave East concert" she said. April was actually excited to see her man get his shine on. Sure she had seen him do a little something at his listening party but this right here was going to be a totally different vibe. She wanted to get her fan girl on. She had even went out of her way and purchased tickets to the concert knowing that she didn't have to pay for shit but she supported her man and wanted him to get his bag in full.

"Understood hype ya man up sis hype him up. I Stan" Ebony said as they got closer to where they needed to be without being seen. "We'll just sit in the background until ya ready to pop out on a nigga"

"Most definitely" April cheesed. She couldn't wait to see her man. It had been weeks since they had been physically in front of each other so she couldn't wait to be wrapped up in his arms. They were going to enjoy the show from the sidelines like everyone else for a little while before popping out and surprising him. She wanted to not only enjoy the show but she wanted to make sure that Dave got his recognition and shine that he deserved. She didn't want to cause too much of a scene early because she already knew that once she popped out the excitement was going to get crazier. They actually had fans that loved them together and had fan pages dedicated to them so she really wanted to make sure that Dave did his shit first before they went all #teamApril&Dave. Besides she knew exactly which song she was walking out to and it wasn't Baby.

"You know they're going to go out and celebrate tonight right"

"Yup and our asses are gonna be right there front and center. I want to see how these so-called homies are gonna act since we'll be around. If they can show their cards to brother and bae then they'll show them to us as well" Ebony said. She had been dying for this moment ever since Bully had filled her in on what had been going down.

"All I hear are facts" April said as they finally made it to the section they needed to be. She couldn't help but smile as she watched her man grace the stage. He was pumped. He was hype and he was looking damn good. He had on a fitted cap tonight so she knew he needed his hair done so she added that to her mental to do list. Nonetheless she enjoyed and rapped along with him as he did a few old songs, some popular songs from his mixtapes, and a his new album. It was a tossup and she was loving every bit of his performance. She was about to be a whole ass groupie tonight.

"I see you sis enjoy ya man" Ebony leaned over and whispered in her ear so she could hear her. Ebony loved to see April out and about enjoying herself. Times like this is where she could see that laid back April, the April who didn't have a care in the world, the April who most people didn't get to see, the April who had fun just like everybody else, and where she was just free to just be a regular person.

April looked over at her and laughed then tuned right back into the concert like she had never left. "Soon as we leave this spot she know that it's on sight. I can't even lie I come from a hard life. I always got it cheaper I ain't payin' y'all price. Foreign creep at night automatic fog lights fuck her so good she can't even walk right" April rapped along with Dave as he rapped On Sight featuring Ty Dolla Sign. Ebony looked over at her and smirked. Her sister was rapping that verse like it meant something to her and Ebony knew that it did because album release weekend and Thanksgiving brother East had fucked her sister up so good that her ass couldn't walk. Let alone he had her ass wheelchair ready.

"Let me be" April looked over at her and laughed. Ebony raised her hands laughing. Shit the verse was life to April. Dave had not only fucked up her walk once but twice and she was here for it every time he wanted to fuck up her walk unless she had to be around her their parents. Then with him being home for Christmas she already knew he was coming for her every chance he got. It was going to be a long week but a good week with him being home.

They continued enjoying the show, rapping along to the songs, and just feeling the vibes. Dave was a great performer and April could tell that he fed off the energy of his fans. He went out and even jumped into the crowd performing. That shit had April hype as hell for her man he was really doing his thing and interacting with fans and not standoffish at all. Then the time came and April had nothing but butterflies soaring in her stomach. She couldn't wait to see his reaction when she crept up on him and hoped that her papi didn't have a slow moment because he stayed having slow moments.

The beat to Alone dropped and she and Ebony were being ushered from where they were and escorted back stage yet still not able to be seen since everyone was focused on what was going on, on the stage. April let the intro, the chorus, and a little bit of the first verse play before she got her shit together and made her way out on the stage followed by Ebony. Ebony walked straight over to her man catching him off guard with her index finger placed on her lips signaling him to keep quiet. The crowd grew wild and everyone started hyping him up even more. Yet Dave was still clueless on what was going on behind him. April figured somebody would shout her name but nope they just kept pointing and knowing her man he was about to have a slow moment.

"She left my name at the front desk. Got an extra key when she checked in" Dave continued rapping. He saw that they were pointing but he didn't know where they were pointing to. Since his crew hadn't stepped to him or made any alarming sounds he knew it wasn't an emergency so he kept performing until he felt a tap on his bare back and felt an electric shock that only one person made him feel. Dave continued rapping as he slowly turned around and saw his woman standing right behind him smiling up at him looking all types of good as her navy blue shirt lit up her milk chocolate skin. "OH SHIT MA" he shouted surprised and stepped back some. He couldn't believe that she had really made it out tonight. He couldn't believe that she was really here and standing in front of him.

"Surprise Papi...continue on" she laughed as he looked her up and down with his bottom lip tucked in his mouth with the crowd still cheering him on while they looked on.

Dave wrapped her up in his arms giving her a hug then pulled back taking one of her hands in his and began rapping to her. See this is why she loved him the way she did. Even in a crowded room he still managed to make her feel like she was the only person in the room. He didn't care about who was around, how anyone felt, or what they would say he loved on her without a care in the world. "I hope she can see that I'm grown" he rapped looked dead at her never letting his eyes wonder not even for a second.

April couldn't help but blush as Dave looked at her with so much love in his eyes in front of everybody. Just like Dave she didn't care if everyone's eyes were on them. She was enjoying this moment with her man and happy that she could put a smile on his face. The song went off and Dave took the chance to lean down, grip the back of her neck, and plant a kiss to her lips.

"Damn" she pulled back and licked her lips at him. "Do ya thing Papi I'll be over there with the crew" April said, kissed his lips, and walked off with Dave following her every move making sure she had joined the crew. Once she was standing between Shooter and Errol Dave went back to putting on a show. April nodded her head and waved at his other boys then hugged Errol and Shooter.

"Damn today's a niggas last show for the holiday. Fillmore y'all showing a nigga a lot of love and my wife just came out and surprised a nigga. It's gonna be a lit ass night" he said still hype and the crowd cheered. The show continued on without a hitch but Dave had to make sure he ended it properly. Yet while he was busy performing all April could feel were eyes on her. She felt a little uncomfortable but she wasn't going to let anyone fuck up her vibe tonight. She came to support her man and that's what she was going to continue to do. Honestly April wasn't feeling the way they were looking at her, Ebony, Bully, or Dave. Their vibe wasn't right at all and she was taking mental notes. Some of them definitely had to go. She had even caught a nigga looking at her and licking his lips like Dave wasn't even on the damn stage on front of him.

"Aight y'all know how this goes. I need everybody to put ya lighters up for my brother Nipsey and if you don't have a lighter put ya fuckin hands up" Dave said as the beat dropped to The Marathon Continues. Everyone either put up their lighters or just their hands in the air. The song meant a lot to Dave. You could see it. You could feel and you could hear it in his voice. April wanted so badly to go and comfort her man but she gave him his moment to not only perform for his fans but to perform and show love to his fallen brother and give him that space he needed to celebrate him uninterrupted. April knew how much Nipsey meant to Dave but he hadn't really had that conversation with her. She knew he'd open up about it eventually though so she was going to wait until he was ready. He had dealt with a lot of deaths so she just wanted him to be comfortable enough to open up to her.

"Fillmore thanks for coming out, supporting a nigga, and showing love. The vibe was tight and y'all were lit. I'll see y'all at the meet and greet" he said and thanked his fans then walked right up to his woman who now had his shirts and a towel in her hands ready and waiting for him.

"Here you go Papi" she passed him the towel first so he could wipe off his sweat but lawd knows she wanted to do it for him. He was looking good with those little beads of sweat running down his tattooed filled chest. Shit had her thinking about how those sweat beads came in contact with her bare skin when they were making love.

"Thanks ma but you got some explaining to do" he smirked at her while he wiped off.

"Later but right bout now you got a meet and greet to get to" she said smiling. She couldn't help herself.

"True shit...hey sis what's good" he looked over at Ebony who was still cuddled up against Bully.

"Hey brother I loved ya performance. You did great tonight" Ebony said smiling.

"Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it" he nodded.

"Aight it's time to get to this meet and greet" Shooter said. He was damn near Dave's road manager at this point. The girls had hoped that Mimi would be able to make it for Shooter but she was dealing with some family issues and couldn't make it.

"Bet" everyone said and started making their way off the stage and to the meet and greet spot down the hall in the same venue. But of course before they could make their way there Dave pulled April to the side.

"Nope Papi go ahead and do what you gotta do me and sis are gonna head out and wait for y'all outside" April said stopping him from going any further. His ass stayed pulling her into some little cut to love on her and although she loved those moments she was being considerate to his schedule and most importantly his fans.

"Ma gimmie those lips first" he looked down at her and licked his lips ready to challenge and mug her as usual. He didn't know why she just didn't do as he asked when he knew she was going to give in anyway. April shook her head and gave in like always. She knew just like he knew he wasn't going to let up until she gave him exactly what he asked for and wanted. They shared a cute little kiss trying not to get swept away in each other then pulled a part with both of them looking at each other with nothing but love, admiration, and hunger in their eyes. Yet while they were minding their business and sharing a moment she could still feel eyes dancing all over the both of them like niggas weren't supposed to be making their way to the meet and greet. She knew Dave felt that shit too.

"Now go I'll see you in a few" she said smiling, wiped her gloss off his lips, and walked off ahead of him giving him something to look at as her security walked in front and beside her.

"Damn" he looked down at her ass wondering how she fit that shit in her jeans. He had to send a prayer to Charlie for contributing to the extra booty meat. Sure it was perfect before but now it was just extra right.

"Damn" Dave heard someone whisper and looked back to see a few of his boys. They had been looking at April walk away just like he had been. He mugged the shit out of him but he didn't speak on it. It wasn't the right time but he damn sure was going to deal with it.

Dave and his boys walked out of the venue riding on a high especially Dave. From the concert to April surprising him to the meet and greet the night had been a huge success. He took pictures, signed his autograph, and sold out of all of his merchandise. Looking around the back entrance the girls were nowhere in sight where they claimed they would be. Dave knew that if April was going to leave she would have at least shot him a text but neither him or Bully received anything. They weren't feeling that shit. Dave picked up his phone and immediately called April.

"I can feel you mugging me Papi" she said as soon as she answered the phone. She knew his ass all too well because he hadn't facetimed her but he was damn sure mugging the fuck out of her.

"Where the fuck you and sis at y'all didn't even say y'all were heading out" Dave asked. With what was going on in the background he found that shit to be a little careless on both of their parts.

"I'm sorry I meant to text you Papi. I didn't think you'd be done this soon. I had to go back to the hotel and get my charger. I was so busy trying to make it on time that I forgot bout it" she replied.

"You could've used mines. I got one on the sprinter" he said and sighed in relief.

"I'm sorry we didn't mean to make y'all worry especially not now" April apologized knowing he must've been worried to not see her where she was supposed to be.

"Oh I know you are and ya gonna make it up" he said sure of himself and April knew he wasn't playing games either especially when his ass was going to be home for a week. "Aye they at the hotel" he looked over and said to the boys. Bully nodded looking pissed. "Sis bout to get her ass in some shit Bully pissed" Dave chuckled.

"Oop" April said and looked over at Ebony.

"Tell daddy he ain't gonna do shit" Ebony said knowing damn well Bully was going to handle her ass too.

Dave chuckled. "Y'all stay talking y'all shit" he said to both April and Ebony as they made their way to the sprinter.

"Whatever" April playfully shot back. "What's the wave for tonight Papi? We're partying with y'all" she asked ready to see shit up close and personal because they had already rubbed her the wrong way. For being their first impression it was definitely one hell of an impression.

"Say less we're bout to head out to Club Onyz and before you ask it's a strip club" he answered. "The boys want to go out with a bang. I never been to this one so I want to see what its bout" he admitted. April knew that he went to strip clubs here and there so he knew she didn't mind. She wasn't about to stop him from having fun especially with her coming along. They could have fun together.

"Cool, cool no problem send me the addy and we'll be on our way" she said.

"Bet, I'm sending it now. I love you ma be safe"

"I will. I love you too Papi. I'll see you soon"

"I love you too daddy I'll see you soon" Ebony said loud enough for Dave to hear her.

Dave laughed. "Hold on" Dave said and put his phone on speaker. "Aight sis he can hear you now"

"See you the realest" Ebony laughed. "I love you daddy I'll see you soon" Ebony said to Bully smiling.

Bully laughed and smiled. "I love you too baby"

"WE LOVE YOU TOO BROTHERS" the girls shouted out to Shooter and Errol making them laugh. They always did shit like that. Nobody was left out.

"We love y'all too" they said back while niggas were looking at the four of them like it was a problem for them to be saying they loved their women and sisters. Yet the boys said nothing they just jotted it down with the rest of their mental notes.

"Aight Papi go do what ya do and get there safe"

"Bet" and with that they hung up. Finally inside the sprinter the men got situated and let a few of their other homies hop inside while the others were in a truck behind them. Dave had a feeling it was going to be a very interesting night he just wondered how interesting.

🛑I'm a be real with y'all between quarantine and everything that's going on in the world right now with the killings, BLM, and the protests it's kind of hard to focus with so much going on. This shit is sad and depressing. My creative juices aren't flowing like they normally do, I don't have multiple chapters written like I normally do, my focus is sucky as hell, and my procrastination is setting in. I love to write and I figure during this time we need an outlet so we don't drown in what's going on but I'm all over the place 😫. I got distracted so many times getting this chapter together that I almost said fuck it. But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be safe out there. We're pretty much targets right now and it's just not a safe time.
