Chapter 26: Panic Attack
April

April had woken up bright and early the next morning, rolled  a thick morning blunt, and tried to keep a smile on her face but who was she fooling the day was finally here and she was a nervous wreck. She made breakfast and talked with her sisters but she was still low key trying to get it together but it didn't work. She felt like she could crack at any moment. She felt so fragile. April wanted to be alone to get her mind right so the girls granted her wish and gave her some space even though they didn't want to. Make no mistake if she called them they'd drop whatever they were doing and come to her rescue. April had hoped and prayed that the high she had flew to LA on would survive longer than it did because she was finally and officially with Dave and happy but the feeling that the high gave her didn't last long at all. Trey had managed to blow it down a few notches and this morning when she woke up it was officially gone. There wasn't even the slightest hint of a buzz left.

She was still happy trust she was and she couldn't wait to go back home and jump into her man's arms but at the moment she had to deal with something much more important. Today was the day she let the man she once loved know exactly how she felt and still feels to this very day. Not only that but she had to drop one hell of a bomb on him and didn't know how Chris would react but she needed to tell him. She had been holding it in for far too long and suffering by herself. Chris needed to know everything and she wanted to tell him everything no matter the consequence. It wasn't anything that she hid from him but it was something he just didn't give a fuck about but was still very much important nonetheless, especially to her. Maybe after all these years it would finally be important to him as well.

April was starting to feel like she couldn't go through with it even though she knew she needed to, she had to. She felt claustrophobic in her own body like she was internally suffocating. Although she had never experienced one April felt like she was going to have a panic attack. She clutched her chest as her heart beat rapidly and dropped to the floor as tears now rimmed her eyelids as she tightly clutched her phone in her other hand. If she had the strength it would've been shattered into a million pieces with the way she was clutching it. Unlocking her phone she called the one person whose voice she wanted to hear at the moment, the voice that would immediately put her and her heart at ease. 3 rings in Dave answered the phone sleepily wiping his hand sluggishly over his face. She knew she had woken him up but she needed him right now.

"Ma what's wrong" Dave asked damn near about to have a panic attack himself as he saw the state April was in. "Baby talk to me" he said as April just looked at him with tears trickling down her face. "Baby I need you to calm down and breathe. Yes this is an important day for you but remember you already know Chris and you have nothing to worry bout. The feelings that you're feeling right now you need to see and talk to him so you can get rid of those feelings so you can let it go...let it all go. At the end of the day it's just Chris someone who use to be your friend. Think of it as having a talk with an old friend" Dave spoke to her softly yet sternly as April kept her eyes on him letting her tears continue to fall while she tried to soak in what he was saying.

"Look if aren't ready to face him then don't. Remember what you're there for. You want closure. You want to let it all out. You want to fully move on. I know there are things that you need to tell him that we haven't talked bout. I see the pained expression every time we talk bout the situation as you skip over certain parts. Whatever it is, is important and you have to let him in on it" Dave spoke as he sat up and leaned against his headboard. April knew he was right though. "What did I tell you before you left" he asked.

"If shit gets too hard to bear bring my ass home and you'll be there" April mumbled still clutching her chest like her heart was going to thump its way right on out.

"Speak up. What did I say to you" he asked again.

She spoke up. "If shit gets too hard to bear bring my ass home and you'll be there" she repeated and took a much needed deep breath.

"Exactly, so if ya not ready bring ya ass home. I'm here for you. I'm not bout to watch my woman sit there crying and panicking and not be able to do something bout it" he wiped his hand over his face again. "I knew I should've come" Dave mumbled.

"I...I...I'll be fine" she stuttered sounded unsure of herself but didn't want to interrupt what Dave had going on. "I just need to hear your voice" April said as she finally wiped her eyes yet tears still fell. She was going through it. She didn't think it would be this hard facing Chris.

"You sure bout that? Because if I have to come and get you myself, I will baby and you know that" he furrowed his brows. It was no joke. Dave was dead ass serious. He wasn't about to let his woman sit there and panic when the nigga that had her panicking wasn't worth shit. He told her he'd be there for her when she needed him and that was the truth. So if he had the cancel his studio session and miss out on the money he'd make from his show then so be it. His fans would be disappointed but he could always make it up. April was an important person in his life now and he was going to make sure she knew it. Thing is he didn't have to tell her that she was important to him. She already knew it. His actions had already proved it to her.

"I'm ok papi. I know you have work to do and I don't want to stop ya hustle and ya bag. Just talk to me for a lil while please" she pleaded.

"Don't worry bout my bag. If you need me to come get you I'm there POINT BLANK PERIOD"

"Baby I promise I'll be ok" she paused. "Just talk to me. Talk to me bout anything but this" she said as she exhaled and leaned against her bedroom door focusing her eyes on him.

"When you bring ya beautiful ass back home the first thing I need you to do is bring ya ass here. Matter of fact nah take ya ass home and get some clothes for work then bring ya ass here. You're staying with me for a few days and you can just leave from here for work. I know Alaina wants to spend time with you before she leaves but she got a few months for that and you need to get right and it's my job to help you get there" Dave said and he meant it. He wasn't about to let his woman fall apart.

April sighed and couldn't help but smile. "I can't wait to come home and jump in ya arms papi"

"And I'm a be here with my arms open wide" he smiled back at her.

"When I get back can we go look for a puppy? Since Alaina is leaving I'm a need some company besides you" she asked changing the subject. She didn't want to talk about her sit down with Chris at all. "I don't want to come home to an empty ass house" Coming home to an empty house had been another thing constantly on her mind but she wouldn't dare let her sister stop her life anymore for her than she already had.

"I got you. We'll look together. I actually want to get lil butt a puppy. You, me, and lil butt can go together and chill so y'all can meet and get to know each other"

"Sounds like a plan" April smiled. She still couldn't wait to meet Dave's lil butt. That little girl was his world, his pride and joy.

"I need to start planning our first official date cause when you get back it ain't no more hiding in the shadows, no more lurking, and no more creeping. Fuck the world. I need to let niggas know you're in it. You're in my world...mines and you are mines. I need niggas to see that smile I get to see every day. That real smile. Let everybody know that through the rain my woman still manages to smile and be happy. Not to mention ya beautiful as hell and all natural. Can I show you off ma" Dave playfully wiggled his eyebrows making April laugh.

"Nope uh, uh don't do those bushy shits like that no more looking like something crawling across ya forehead" April cackled making Dave frown. "But um I'm down for whatever papi so show me off" she smiled.

"I'm ova here whispering some good shit in ya ears and you coming for me" he furrowed his brows and continued to frown.

"I'm sorry papi but you know ya shits a lil connected AND bushy" she continued to laugh. "You can't be doing shit like that. You gotta warn a nigga" she laughed so hard her stomach was tightening.

"Ha...Ha funny real funny I'm supposed to be ya man and this is how you do me"

"Bae you know you're my baby, my papi, and my cuddle bae. I'm just saying warn me next time" she continued laughing. April needed this moment and was glad that it was Dave who could put a smile back on her face and make her feel better.

"You know what? It's still early in the morning ova here, lil butt still sleep, AND my woman tryna come for me. I ain't gotta take this shit. I'm going back to sleep" he mugged her instantly shutting her up.

"Come on papi don't be like that" she whined. "You the only nigga I know that looks sexy with one brow" she burst out laughing again. "Now stop mugging me and give me love" she smiled at him.

He mumbled. "Give you love...ya lucky you called me sexy" he took his pinky and his thumb and ran them over his bushy eyebrows. "I betta be the only nigga you coming for" he smirked at his sexual innuendo.

"That you are. Only you papi only you" she bit her bottom lip just thinking about it.

"Good that's what I like to hear. Keep talkin that bullshit and I'm a have to punish that ass" he warned her.

April bit her lip again. "I mean I am on birth control and you do have that clinic size box of gold foils. How does punishment actually work" she eyed him seductively. Damn she couldn't want for this weekend to be over and done with.

Dave licked his lips. "You keep talking shit and you'll find out"

"See you keep threatening me with a good time knowing damn well I'm with the fucks"

They went back and forth and just like that April was back at peace. She didn't know what it was about Dave but he always managed to brighten up her day and make her feel a million times better. He always managed to keep a smile on her face. It could be the fact that he genuinely cared for her and wanted to see and keep her happy. It could be that for him to be so hard that he was actually a softy around her. Or the fact that he truly fucked with her. Dave always kept it a hunnid and had been the same man he was when she first met him. 4 months in and there was no sign of change. What she saw is what she got and she couldn't help but thank God for sending Dave her way. He made all her cloudy days sunny. Not putting all of her happiness in having a man but he was absolutely that missing piece in her life. He made her feel whole again, worthy, wanted, and needed. He made her feel like maybe just maybe she could love again. That love was still in her cards especially when she felt like she had nothing else to give or get when it came to love. Well loving another man anyway. Not saying she was in love but she saw love in her future when it came to Dave.

"Aight future baby ma-"

"Boy you playing entirely too much" April cut him off. "I'm not bout to be no ones baby mama unless there's a ring on my finger, we're headed down the aisle, or already crossed it" she smacked her lips.

"Aight bet future wife and baby mama. No wait mother of my child" he smirked and corrected himself.

"That sounds much better Mr. Brewster Jr" April smiled at the fact that he called her his future wife and mother of his future child. She like many little girls growing up always wanted to be someone's wife and mother and since it didn't work out with Chris she prayed that she'd have another chance and this time it would be a mission accomplished. April wasn't trying to jump the gun though she was going to focus on the here and now and enjoy what her and Dave had going on.

"I'm not even gonna" he sucked his teeth.

"Before we hang up I just want to say a lil something for you. You know I ain't too big on religion but I do believe in Allah so bow ya head and close those eyes" he chuckled. April knew he wasn't one of those Muslims who prayed morning, noon, and night like he was supposed to but he did pray often and thanked Allah for all his blessings.

"Ok" April smiled and did as he said.

"Allah you know I don't ask for much and when it comes to praying and talking to you I need to do better. But today I'm coming to you for a special woman in my life, my woman to be exact. I come to you Allah to ask for your help to get her through this day that she's bout to embark on. Help her communicate and articulate her words the way she needs to. Help her relieve the mental pain and stress that she feels. This interaction with her ex I ask that you help it go smooth for both parties. I pray that they let it out and let it go. I pray that at the end of it all that they can be cordial. I know she won't say it but I know she misses her friend so I pray you help get them on the right track. I just want her to be happy and stress free like she deserves. Thank you Allah for listening Ameen" Dave opened his eyes to a smiling April.

"Is it too soon to say that I'm so blessed and thankful to have you in my life papi" she continued to smile as she felt overjoyed by his words. Never in a million years did she think Dave was the type of man that he was. He surprised her every day.

"Nah ma the feeling is mutual" he smiled back at her. "I'm a let you go so you can get ready so I'll talk to you later and I hope this goes well for you"

"Thanks papi I'll talk to you later" she said getting ready to hang up.

"Gimmie my kisses first" he poked his lips out.

April laughed and shook her head but nonetheless she poked her lips out and kissed the screen. "Later papi"

"Later ma, I got some sleep to get and a date to plan" and with that they hung up leaving April to get ready for the day.
