Chapter 22: Can We Talk

April and Dave had been walking around Dave's kitchen in sync in a comfortable silence while she cooked breakfast. It had been this way since they entered the kitchen and although Dave was glued to her hip like a Siamese twin April didn't mind one bit. He was always a smidge clingy but she knew why he was being extra today and was grateful for it. She was there for him and he was there for her so whatever Dave had to do to comfort her today he was willing to do. Besides they knew they would miss each other this weekend. It would be the first weekend that they would be apart since they started kicking it. So spending quality time was a must.

Since Alaina had announced that she was moving after graduation which was a few months away April had been dividing her time between her and Dave. She had been spending the day time with Alaina and her nights with Dave since she worked weekdays. So far everything had been working out. 2 plus weeks had passed and she had yet to tell Dave about the information her parents had dropped on her. She didn't know how he'd react to her parents knowing him but she planned to tell him today.

Today happened to be Thursday. Thursday morning to be exact and the same day April was leaving to go to LA to finally talk to Chris hence why Dave was on her ass today. On the outside April looked cool, calm, and collected but in the inside she was going through the motions. Of course Dave noticed and knew she felt a way so his sole focus was on her today especially since he was supposed to accompany her and had to cancel at the last minute. He had a studio session late Friday night and a show on Saturday that he couldn't miss or reschedule like he had originally planned. April didn't mind though because this was something she had to do for herself and by herself.

Dave had even made her promise to call him or bring her ass home if it all became too much to bear. See Dave was going to be there for her in any way he could. He had even taken Kairi to his parent's place just so he could focus on April. He did plan to pick her back up later tonight. Dave had also planned to change that once April came back home. He wanted both his girls to meet each other so they could all coexist together which he knew April didn't mind at all. She actually couldn't wait to meet the little baby that stole Dave's heart and turned him into mush. Dave couldn't wait for the two to meet as well. He thought April would be a good role model and woman to have in his lil butt's life.

Dave was dropping April off at the airport later on and had actually just picked her and her luggage not too long ago.

"Baby can you set the table. Breakfast is pretty much done" April looked up at him. Those were the first words said since they had stepped in the kitchen. It was pretty clear that they both had a lot on their minds. For April it was the whole talking to Chris situation and for Dave it was the outcome of her and Chris talking.

"Gotcha ma" he bent down and kissed her temple before walking off and doing what she had asked of him. While he set the table April turned off the burners and started to take the food to the kitchen table. April had made a big breakfast cooking everything that Dave requested.

"Do you want me to make your green smoothie or you had it already" she asked as she grabbed two waters out the fridge.

"I'm good ma. I made one before I picked you up" he replied. "Come sit down and eat"

"Ok" April brought the waters to the table and sat them down getting ready to take a seat across from Dave.

"Nah ma over here" Dave patted his lap smirking at her. She couldn't do shit but laugh but what else did she do. She sat her ass right on his lap and watched him fix one big ass plate for the both of them. April knew he was going to eat most of it anyway. Besides loving her cooking he loved to eat but did so in moderation. They both said a silent prayer and dug in. They shared light conversation until they were done and just like usual they washed the dishes together until the kitchen was spotless again.

15 minutes later they were both headed upstairs and back in bed. As soon as their bodies touched the bed Dave was pulling April's body as close as he possibly could against his. He was definitely going to miss the warmth and comfort of her body next to his this weekend. They had both gotten use of the feeling of being in each other's arms during their weekend cuddle sessions. They both had to admit that they couldn't wait to get to enjoy each other's company whenever they wanted to. No more weekend flings. Dave and April wanted it all. April snuggled deep into Dave's body inhaling his scent. It was a mix between cocoa butter, his body wash, and his own scent blended together perfectly. To April it was intoxicating.

"So, how was your appointment this morning" Dave asked her as he mindlessly ran his hand up and down her spine.

April smiled and pulled away from him then hopped out of the bed and went straight to her Gucci backpack pulling out a few items. "Get up" she hopped back on the bed sitting with her legs folded. Without hesitating Dave sat up and leaned against the headboard. "This is for you" she passed him an envelope.

"Hold a sec" he reached inside his nightstand draw and pulled out an envelope of his own and passed it to her.

"Count of 3" April raised her brow.

"3" Dave chuckled and opened up the envelope.

"Only you" she mumbled and opened the envelope. They both read the documents that were in front of them. April smiled Dave was indeed clean and clear from all STD's and diseases while Dave nodded his head in approval that she too was clean. Yup they both got tested just to be on the safe side. It was better to be safe than sorry especially when it came to shit like STD some shit was incurable and neither one of them wanted that smoke.

"So when you tryna set up that dick appointment" he smirked. They had both waited it out and now it was time to do some exploring.

"Before we talk bout that dick appointment did you hold up to ya end of the bargain" she raised her freshly arched brow smirking back at him. No glove no love...

"Did you" he questioned with his brow now raised.

"Damn sure did" April passed him a fresh pack of birth control pills. Yes your girl was dead ass serious about that shit. She was going to get the dick and be protected while doing so. She was used to taking them anyway from when she was with Chris. She took them shits religiously right along with her vitamins so skipping or forgetting them wasn't an option for her. Dave opened his nightstand draw a second time and pulled out a big box and placed in on the bed. "Well damn...that's a life time supply of rubbers" she picked up the family size box of magnums. Shit looked like he was about to pass them out in front of a Planned Parenthood clinic.

He chuckled and shrugged. "I'm always strapped. But nah I figured I'd keep some here and at your place so we don't have to keep running out to get any" he looked at her and back at the pills before passing them back to her. "Besides a nigga gotta keep some on his person too; you never know when it's gonna go down cause fuckin with me ma its gonna go down" he licked his lips looking at her as if he wanted to take her down at that very moment.

April laughed. "You know since you're gonna be on the pill we don't really need these rubbers" Dave said with a straight face as he pulled her onto his lap making her straddle him.

April fixed herself in his lap and got comfortable."See although that sounds good...real good I don't know what type of sperm you have. You might have that A1 super seed sperm where it passes all boundaries and makes its way to its intended target, my precious eggs. Not to mention you look like the type of nigga whose pullout game is weak. Like the pussy so good you just don't want to leave. PLUS I already know you don't mind shooting up this club" April shrugged and wrapped her arms around his neck.

Dave mugged her before he burst out laughing. "Not gonna lie lil butt's moms was on birth control and my shit surpassed that shit with no problem. I haven't gone raw in any chick besides her. I know you heard Keisha when I said 'raw ain't the way I get down'. But just know I'm sampling ya I mean my shit raw and we're gonna see how my pullout game work" he bent down and kissed her neck leaving his head buried in the crook of it. Who wouldn't want to go raw in some clean pussy that hasn't been touched in years? Dave was all for it and could handle whatever the consequences were.

April laughed. "I'm done with you" she took her hands and ran them over his old braids. He had been too busy to get them done so he had been walking around with his durag on for the past few days. "I know you said you were getting these done over this weekend but you should let me handle it" she continued playing in his hair. April loved when he had his short cut with the deep waves but she had to admit those straight backs did something to her. Dave had decided to grow his hair out of the blue and she swore she couldn't deal with the cock roach size box braids he was wearing. But when papi stepped into her crib with those straight backs and a fresh line up she lost her shit down below.

Dave closed his eyes enjoying the feeling. He loved the feeling of her hands in his hair just as much as he liked running his hands through hers. "You don't have to" he opened his eyes and placed his forehead against hers.

"I don't mind besides why waste money when I can do it for you" she pecked his lips. She stayed stealing kisses.

"You just don't want another chick touching on me" he joked but also knew that it was somewhat true.

April shrugged. "I wouldn't say all that" she laughed a little. She didn't mind though just as long as it was just his hair. "Besides we don't have shit to do all day until you take me to the airport so why not"

"Any excuse to touch me" Dave continued joking.

"Let's not act like you don't like when I'm touching on you. Whether it's your hair or your body you like no you love my touch" she pulled back and almost rolled her eyes.

"See somebody learned their lesson" he chuckled. "You gonna wash it and all that other shit" he asked.

"You stay talking shit papi but yea if you have everything here I'll hook you up or we can always hit up the beauty supply store"

"No need I got everything here"

"Well let's get the show on the road"

Dave left out the bedroom bringing back a whole bucket filled with hair products and styling tools like combs, brushes and bunches of bows, barrettes, and ribbons for Kairi's hair. April sat on the edge of the bed with Dave on the floor between her legs with his arms draped across her legs as she took out his cornrows and then proceeded to finger detangle his hair before putting a comb to it. Almost 2 hours later April had finished shampooing, conditioning, moisturizing Dave's scalp, and braiding his hair in straight back cornrows. Papi was looking like a whole fuckin snack. Dave had his back turned towards the bathroom mirror as he held a smaller mirror in his hand checking out the back of his hair.

He nodded his head in approval. "Yup you're stuck with me" he turned and faced the mirror putting down the handheld mirror while running his hand over his fresh set of braids. Why pay someone else when his girl could hook him up? He didn't know why he hadn't asked her from jump.

"Um you already told me that" April giggled and watched him as she leaned against the door frame of the bathroom door while he continued to inspect her work.

"Felt the need to remind you. Beautiful, intelligent, can cook your ass off, roll perfect blunts, always makes sure the Henny is on deck, AND you just blessed ya boy" he walked up on her and picked her up while she wrapped her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist. "If that pussy is as A1 as you say it is you already know what's going down" he licked his lips dead ass serious. To Dave April was a woman with the whole package. She was perfect yet perfectly flawed and he loved it.

She tapped her chin with her index finger as if she was thinking. "Hmm, so that means I'm really stuck with you" she laughed.

"You already know" he walked them back into his bedroom. "I know what you're thinking and don't worry. I'm a make sure you keep that bright smile on your face. I'll be there when you need me, make sure you're always straight, keep you laughing, protect, provide even though I know you don't need it. You make me want to spend racks on you. I'm a make sure you don't want or need for anything. I'll be there as your friend and your man. Whatever you feel and need to talk bout I'll be there. So just like I got you, you got me. Know this dick is for you and only for you too" he kissed her lips passionately and gripped her ass as if it was a basketball.

April couldn't do shit but smile because he answered her question without her even asking. If she was bringing all of what he liked and wanted to the table it was only right to know what he was bringing. She kissed his lips. She couldn't rather they couldn't get enough of each other.

"Can we talk" she kept her eyes on him as he sat down on the edge of the bed with her still wrapped in his arms.

"What's on ya mind ma" he looked at her letting her know that she had his attention.

"Sooooo...I think you may know my parents because from what I was told they damn sure know you" she bit her lip nervously for what...she didn't know.

"Dave pulled back. "You sure bout that" he was sure he didn't know her parents. If he did he'd a known her besides knowing that she was linked to Chris.

April nodded her head and proceeded to tell him about the conversation they had during that particular Sunday dinner.

"Wait what" Dave said and shook his head and sat her on the bed beside him. "You serious right now"

"Yes Dave" she crawled up the bed and to his nightstand grabbing her phone and made her way back to him. She unlocked her phone and went straight to her photo gallery in search for pictures she had of her parents so she could show him. "Here" she passed him her phone.

"Yo that's def Unc and Auntie Ana. I haven't seen them in years. Now the trigger finger shit makes perfect sense. Ya pops was a beast in the streets. My dad was part of Unc's crew and your mom was close friends with my mother. This shit crazy" he ran a hand down his face in shock. Growing up Dave was real close to her father. He considered him his uncle.

"Who you telling, it's a small world. I wasn't expecting them to know you on a personal level. My mom was all excited. 'Fay's baby is dating one of my babies'" April mocked her mother.

Dave laughed. "I wonder why we never saw each other because I never seen you and La with your parents. Every time I saw them it was just the 2 of them or Unc with his brother Reek"

"We knew what our father did but we weren't allowed around it when they were handing business and if we were around I really don't remember seeing you. Uncle Ny'Reek is actually my head bodyguard and head of security. As a matter of fact it's his security company"

"Wait till I tell my parents. Unc use to make sure we were good. I don't know why they stopped hanging around each other. Was Reek the guy that picked you up the night Millie popped up" he asked.

"Well, all I know is that she invited you, your parents, and baby girl over for dinner. I told her I haven't met your parents yet but we've talked bout it. She gonna say 'this would be a good time to meet them'" April mocked her mother again and laughed. "I think she's just excited about seeing your mom" She didn't have a problem with them coming over her parent's house for dinner especially since they already knew each other. She couldn't see the harm in it. "But yup that was Uncle Ny'Reek"

"That explains why he looked at me the way he did when he picked you up" Dave chuckled. He figured her uncle had been knew who he was and was probably wondering why she was leaving when she was supposed to be staying the night. "I'll see what's up with them and let you know but I still want you to meet them on your own first before going to dinner" Dave said as he looked at her and laid down on the bed with his feet still on the floor. April took this opportunity to straddle him. "You know my moms stay asking bout you. She keeps saying that I'm being stingy and want you all to myself" he chuckled. Maybe he was being a little stingy.

April laughed. "You are stingy when it comes to me but whatever you decide is fine with me just let me know"

"Bet, I still can't believe this shit. You know they know Shooter and Bully then" he raised his brow and took his hands placing them on her waist. "Unc looked out for them as well"

April shook her head. "Definitely a small world"

"Word, well since we're talking I need to tell you something" the way he said it April already knew it had to be serious.

"Sup" she said not jumping to conclusions.

"You know I want you to meet lil butt but the only way you'll meet her is by meeting Millie first which we both agreed on. Shit is getting serious between us and I want to be able to chill with both my babies at the same time...soooo I asked Millie to come over today so y'all could meet. And before you say anything I did it because I know you might need me when you come back after this shit with Chris. I want to be there for you but you know I'll also have lil butt" Dave said as he now played with her fingers. April just looked at him. She understood why he did it but damn that was a short ass heads up. "Don't be mad at me" he said nervously not knowing what to expect.

"I'm not mad I mean damn it's a short ass heads up but I'm down for it. It was gonna happen sooner or later. I'm happy you said something though because if she'd a popped up again I'd a felt some type of way"

"Say less" he kissed her knuckles.

"So when is she coming"

"I told her around 3"

"Did you tell her what she was coming over for or are you just leading her blindly" April had to know. She definitely didn't want to be a part of none of the drama that could occur especially when she had her own drama to deal with over the weekend.

"Nah she knows. She already knew I was talking to someone she just doesn't know it's you but I told her it was serious and that I wanted y'all to meet for the sake of lil butt so she agreed"

"Well its bout 1 now so I'm a take a nap till she gets here" April removed herself from him and crawled back up to the head of the bed and placed the covers over her body. Dave just nodded and went to clean up the small mess that they made while doing his hair. Once he was done he put on his durag, joined April in bed, pulled the cover over himself, and spooned her pulling her as close to his body as he could.

"Are you mad at me" he mumbled in her neck inhaling her scent. Today she smelled like fresh strawberries. It wasn't the cocoa butter and shea butter mixture he loved on her but she still smelled good nonetheless.

"Nope papi it was gonna happen sooner or later. I guess this is the weekend to get everything said and done" she spoke with her eyes closed.

"You sure" he questioned. The last thing he wanted was April to be mad at him. April turned around in his arms, wrapped a leg around his waist, and draped an arm over him.

"I'm good baby I promise" she leaned up and kissed the black rose on his neck.

"Say less" they snuggled up getting comfortable until they eventually fell asleep.
