Chapter 11 - Unforgotten Past
(Prt. 2)

╚═════ஓ๑♡๑ஓ═════╝

"A-a-a-and after that...my family was changed forever..." Juvia finishes off the story as she closes her eyes, trying desperately to hold back tears at the horrifying story she had still crammed in her head.

The four sat in stunned silence, too shocked and sad to even speak. They stared at Juvia with sorrow in their eyes, truly feeling sorry. "I'm...speaking for all of us here, but, I'm sorry that that happened to you, Juvia..." Erza says with a soft smile, placing a hand on her friend's leg to comfort her. Juvia looks up at Erza with a returned smile, her eyes still daring to spill more of the unshed tears of the past "Is that what triggered your Dad to be so...rude to you?"

Juvia nods slightly, speaking softly "he blames her death on me-I was the one that killed her, killed my own Mom...and he never failes to remind me every single day. Of course, I knew it wasn't true...just some terrible circumstance, but it got to the point where...I started believing it..."

"It isn't you're fault..." Gray says out loud, looking at the girl with folded arms and feeling sympathy for the poor girls' past.

Juvia, again, nods "but, what if...it is?" the others were about to open their mouths to protest, but Juvia beat them to it, her voice screaming tears were going to start shedding soon "I know it's not, but somewhere in my head...i still believe it, every. single. word. Every lie he tells me..."

"I'm gonna kill him..." a voice, dark and speaking truth comes from Natsu. Everyone looks at him, he with anger in his eyes. Lucy gulps, shivering at her friends words--Natsu never liked people getting hurt, so at the moment, he was for sure in rage "I swear I'm gonna- just for you, Juvia... No child should be treated like that...!"

Juvia shakes her head, fearing his aura "I-It's fine, Natsu...you don't have to for a Fiorean like me, it's not worth your time..."

"Still, I-"

"No." Juvia speaks out harshly, stopping Natsu from saying whatever he was going to "he's already won sucking out my mental state, it's way passed the time to stop him...plus, he definetley wouldn't stop the lies..."

The glass shattered on the ground, Juvia ducking in a corner with tears falling madly down her cheeks.

"You stupid little piece of shit! Get out of my sight, I don't want to see you!" Dave yelled at his daughter through slurred words, not feeling just a tiny ounce of sorrow for the murder he called his offspring. Juvia sobbed whilst cupping her ears, trying to block out her Dad's angry yelling which she heard a lot of and grew to hate.

It was two years after that incident with Sierra and now was just Juvia and her Dad - who didn't act like a father figure anymore. Ever since Sierra's passing, he became more distraught and tired - he barely could name the month or year. He took out his anger on his daughter, saying she was the one who killed his wife. He could not believe that the worthless thing was his daughter, she was a murder!

He blamed everything on Juvia - why he was slacking off in his job field, why he dropped things, why he drank, why his wife died....he could care less if Juvia died, he wanted that more than anything in the world, and yet, he set strict rules on her and made her do chores. She tried his best to make her world a living hell.

Not only did their relationship falter, but their whole lifestyle and health did as well.

The house was no longer clean as it used to be, they never did anything but stay inside, Dave left Juvia - a five-year-old who didn't know how to take care of herself - alone at home when he had to go to work or other places, and he never thought about feeding his child. Not even once.

Pretty much, Juvia was alone in the ocean - a hopeless 5-year-old who was blamed for killing her own mother. The only thing Dave did for her was taking her to school when she started going and that was it. Every other thing Juvia had to learn how to do on her lonesome.

She didn't like her life, and she missed her Mom's presence more than anything. Whenever Juvia felt alone, though, she could feel her mother doing all the things her Dad never did - loving on her, hugging her and kissing her forehead to reassure her everything was alright.

"D-D-Daddy!" Juvia cried, sobbing helplessly into the corner of the wall.

Dave growled grabbing another wine bottle and smashing it on the floor, close to where Juvia was, making her jump. "I am not your f**king Dad!" he screamed, a vein popped out on his forehead. "Go to your f**king room or so f**king help I will kill you as you did to your mother!!!" he yelled even louder, making Juvia's cries more hurried and escalated. She turned to leave and run up the stairs, bolting towards the steps as she avoids the glass she learned hurt very much once making contact with the skin.

She slammed her door once arriving in her clean room - which was neater than the entire home -, locking it and then running to hide under her covers. She cried herself to sleep as she felt loving arms wrapped around her, soothing her cries and thoughts of anguish.

"What does he do?" Lucy asks, now sitting on the floor by Juvia.

Juvia sighed sadly, breathing through her nose and then letting the air out "everything, honestly...except work, pay for bills or anything like that..."

Natsu tilted his head, still fuming with anger "what do you mean?"

"You see, he lost his job, and since he blamed me for the death of my mom, he saw it fit for me to work and pay for electricity, and taxes while he got to sit at home and do nothing but sit on his butt and drink booze all day, plus yell at me," Juvia shrugged, rubbing her hands up and down her arms "that's why I'm employee of the year at the Café...since I've worked there for so long...and with the money I get paid, I pay for everything to keep my home working for his sake--and he always takes about half of my earnings to buy things for himself...my hard-earned cash."

"When did you start working?" Gray asks this time, looking at the girl and actually not making fun of her.

"The age of thirteen...and about that time, he also started hooking up with random women..."

══ஓ๑♡๑ஓ══

A 13-year-old Juvia sat on the tiled floor of her kitchen, her Dad in his room with another woman.

Juvia's Father got even worse by day, getting more bad as days passed by rapidly. She learned that she was by herself, alone in life. She made a tiny handful of friends at school, but all were too young to understand her pain. She hated her existence, staring in the mirror at herself only made her see a worthless excuse of a girl - a hopeless lie her Father fed to her which she grew to believe.

She learned to talk to herself when she found no one would, which gained her talking in the third person later in life which she was ridiculed on.

She really hated Dave and told herself to push aside his hurtful comments and abuse, but she found herself believing every word. What made Juvia hate her Father, even more, was his lack of respect. Ever since a year ago, Dave had brought home a different girl every night to hook up with, to then throw out on the streets and forget all about the next day. All of the women he brought back were whores, sluts, and gold diggers, not feeling bad for Juvia whenever Dave kicked the life out of her in front of them. They cheered him on whenever he abused Juvia, applauding his actions. This was what every woman did, and Juvia was sure Dave found a woman who hated children just to show Juvia that no one loved her.

She was abused a lot more and was forced to get a job when Dave lost his - his boss noticed his lack of self and fired him, which meant no gaining money and saving himself. That was what sparked him hooking up with random woman every night, he was just as hopeless as Juvia.

He forced Juvia to get jobs to pay for bills, a 13. year. old. A job at thirteen? Other parents looked at Juvia as if she were brave, but in reality, she was forced to gain money just for her Dad and only for her Dad. He made her pay for bills and took the rest to spend on alcohol, drugs, and other things. Dave was a mess, and he had lost himself forever ago.

══ஓ๑♡๑ஓ══

"I'll never be good enough for him..." that's when the tears started rolling down her cheek and the sobs showed up; the four just sat guiltily as they heard the girl cry her sorrows out "no matter what I do...he'll always hate me...and I don't blame him. Why like a murder like me? No one likes killers...or yet ever forgives them... Nothing I do will make him forgive me--I'm what's wrong and I can't do anything about it!!" she started sobbing hard now, letting the tears fall down her face like water does, falling down a cliff of a mountain.

══ஓ๑♡๑ஓ══

Pushing Juvia to the floor, Dave gave a hollowed laugh, looking at the girl lying helplessly on the ground, a woman in his arms "Do you see this girl right next to me, you brat?" Juvia looks at her father ever so slowly, her face turning with shakes of pain, having just twisted her ankle badly "I am happy with her, she's real eye candy...which you'll never be!"

Juvia winces as the random blonde woman steps on her ankle with her blue stilettos, the bluenette letting out a little squeak of pain. "you're such a worthless child!!!!"

Dave nodded his head in agreement, wrapping an arm around the woman to squeeze her hip "no one wants a murder as a wife, so you're destined to die alone! You'll be alone forever because a guy deserves better than you!"

Tears streamed from Juvia's eyes as she watched the adults laugh, they looked down at her with eyes of pure enjoyment, hurting the poor girl "let's go, Gwenyth...we got some business to do while this pathetic little girl weeps!"

They walk away leaving a sobbing mess of a 14-year-old alone on the floor, in pain, both on her outside and inside - sharp pain knocked at her bones in her ankle, and the words her Dad had told her breaking her heart into a million more pieces. At that moment, she hated her life more than she ever had...and her father...

══ஓ๑♡๑ஓ══

Gray jumps up and hugs a sobbing Juvia seated on Erza's bed, shocking her with his embrace. Gray hated her, made fun of her, and he was hugging her? For her past? Was he doing it out of pity or just because he felt he needed to? It could be either-or, it was Gray for goodness sakes! But- something felt good about his hug, such a good feeling that it made Juvia relax and calm her sobs, quieting down. "There is nothing wrong about you, Juvia--nothing at all. You being here shows you're stronger than what you think you are..."

Juvia sniffs as she returns his hug, gripping tightly his shirt as she placed her face on his shirt covered chest. She sobs, soaking Gray's white t-shirt, letting the salty tears of the past escape.

This was the first time in a while since she had told anyone about her life - really, the only people that knew were Meredy, Lyon, Jellal, Gajeel, the rest of the Element 4, and now the Magnolians; and, those who she had told became close friends with her.

Would the same thing happen with the Magnolians? Juvia didn't know, but she hoped so. She never really liked them before, but now? They, for sure, were going to be Juvia's lifeboat, just like her other friends were. The Magnolians with her in that room were like those who had been told about the secret going on at home for Juvia, caring, and understanding.

══ஓ๑♡๑ஓ══

Juvia was asked constantly by teachers, old people, really anyone, what the important thing in life was to her and she never really had a response...

When Meredy and Juvia became friends...it was life-changing for the mistreated little girl.

They met at the beginning of 5th grade, Meredy just joining the school. After a matter of weeks, the pinkette - who could read whatever was going on with a person without even asking - started noticing her new friend becoming more and more sad (and having at least one new bruise shown on her skin) as days passed by like a weekend often does with ease. Meredy, the big hearted girl she was, hated seeing those whom were close to her hurting or sad-

So, Meredy did what she thought was best.

After a long day on a Friday, Meredy had pulled Juvia aside and asked the girl if she were alright "I've noticed you've gotten more bruises on your body every day you come to school...I just want to know if you're alright because that and something else must be making you so sad..." all the bluenette did in response was break down in tears. That was when, and was the first time, Juvia had told her story...her past story that was mind and heart-shattering.

Meredy was there for Juvia ever since the day she was told of her friends mistreatings - and promising one day, when she was confident, to go talk some sense into her father.

Sometime after that, like a month or so, Juvia met Gajeel. They were at recess - Meredy absent that day - and Juvia was, unfortunately, being made fun of by other students of her class. At her breaking point, Juvia began crying - crying out all of her heart's content - when suddenly, the kids were pushed away by big, scary, puberty-stricken Gajeel. "You okay?" the younger Gajeel had asked in his changing voice, to which Juvia returned with a smile.

"Y-Yeah- Juvia's alright...thank you..."

"Eh, no problem... I'm Gajeel, by the way..."

"Nice to meet you, Gajeel-Kun!" Juvia said with gratitude, her face brightened up unlike seconds before.

Gajeel just rolled his eyes "whatever," he began walking away and Juvia only followed, getting to know him better - fully content on making him her friend.

The guy found out about Juvia being abused almost 3 months after becoming her friend and swore to protect her; he somehow knew she was important to his life if she was the only one who brought a smile to his face.

Gajeel had other friends, though - the other three members of the Element 4. But, good thing was, they accepted Juvia and she did the same for them.

Although Juvia was happy with her addition of 4 new friends, Meredy wasn't - some could say she was jealous, others could've said she wanted Juvia all to herself, but in reality, it was none of those.

Gajeel, Totomaru, Sol, and Aria were very bad students at school, and Meredy solemnly believed they weren't good for Juvia and her mental health. However, the blunette simply didn't listen to the pinkette, who would be her future BFF; instead, she tag-teamed it. One day she'd be with Meredy, and the next would be with Gajeel--this, sort of, began the unspoken rivalry between both Meredy and Gajeel.

As for the rest of the friends she had gained, it was history that she'd never forget.

Lyon, who had a crush on Juvia for a month once in Middle school, met her in the class of science, they being lab partners. Lyon began being madly in love with Juvia the day he was sat next to her, but when Meredy showed up the next grade - the girl had switched schools for a year since her aunt had gone on a business trip for a whole school year, not wanting to leave her niece alone - things changed. Juvia introduced the two, Lyon forgot all about his love for Juvia, asked Meredy out, and the two started dating.

Jellal was introduced to Juvia by Meredy who had met him in the other school she had attended the previous school year - the two had become friends and the pinkette somehow convinced the guy to go to Fiore Middle School.

Juvia loved her friends, needless to say. They made her over the wall happy and never failed to cheer her up when her father hurt her, and Juvia believed people who did that were worthy to be her friend. They made her far more joyous than her Father ever had and she decided to cherish and love them.

She would say friends were those who were most important in her life...

══ஓ๑♡๑ஓ══

Juvia pulled away from the hug between her and Gray, wiping her tears as she returned the other hugs Erza, Lucy, and Natsu had to offer. "Thanks for listening to Juvia's story..."

Lucy, who was the last to be hugged, patted Juvia on the back as they embraced. She hugged her so tenderly it was like a mother holding her child in her arms. "Don't mention it, Juvia...we're here for you from now on..."

The bluenette pulls away from the hug as she lets out her final tear, swiping it away with one easy movement of her thumb. She looks at all of them with a smile of approval, sorrow still in her eyes but the smile reassured them she was alright. Juvia proceeded to hug them more, unconditional love spilling out of her heart for the new people she could turn to.

"Just, one more question...Why not report your Dad for abuse?" Natsu asked as soon as they let go of their second embrace.

Juvia paused...

The other three looked at her in question, having been pondering the same thing as Natsu. If she hated her father, and he abused her, why not report him? It was simple to do... "My father is actually a policeman himself. If you want, I can help you report-" Erza began saying her idea, remembering her father and his job, but Juvia cut in.

"No, no! No need for that..." Juvia bit her bottom lip as she rubbed her arm awkwardly, looking to the side with a soft, bitter smile. "Juvia just...Juvia-"

"Why not tell anyone?" Gray asked seriously, grabbing both her arms and staring straight into her face. He needed to know what her reason was.

Juvia fidgeted as Gray held her, and she somehow wiggled herself out of his grasp, looking at him with a solemn look in her eye as a frown painted her face. "Juvia can't find herself...to report him."

The 4 look at each other cluelessly then back at Juvia. "What?" Lucy raises a brow as she looks at her new bluenette friend with concern.

"Juvia means she can't report him... She can't find it in her heart to do that..." she looks to the side again, folding her arms as a soft sad look crossed her face "somewhere in her broken heart...Juvia still loves him."

Deciding to respect her decision, they just smiled at her, making her feel more love and happiness than she ever had.

Juvia beamed at all of them, knowing for sure they'd keep their word of being there for her. She was so happy for her new addition of friends and was hopeful in seeing their future together, that she started crying in delight. They all just shared a big group hug as Juvia felt more love that she ever had...

'I like this...' the girl thought, forgetting about her father for the moment 'Juvia loves them...'

Her friends were the light of her darkness...
