Chapter 2 - Unexpected Student
╚═════ஓ๑♡๑ஓ═════╝
Walking down the hall next to a friend of his, Gray Fullbuster - an 18-year-old, Senior student of Magnolia Highschool, a chick magnet, and a very chill person - was in his own little world as the friend walking beside him rambled on.
The girl beside him, known as Lucy Heartfilia - 17-years-old, also a Senior of Magnolia Highschool, a book worm, and known for being bossy to some - was rambling about the new school switch. Students like her were very upset about the two schools combining, arguing all about it to family members and friends.
Gray himself had heard Lucy talking about it a total of 23 times - that's just how upset she was. He learned after the 3rd talk session to just to zone her out. ''One Fiore Highschool person had the audacity to call me a whore! Like, they don't even know who I am and just assume that about me!? How dare they!" Lucy looked to her friend waiting for a response from him and very quickly noticed him zoned out of the conversation. She folded her arms and stopped walking, glaring at Gray as he kept up his pace thinking Lucy was still by him.
He soon realized she wasn't by his side and stopped, turning his head slightly to see an undelighted Lucy glaring at him. "What?" he says nonchalantly which gains an unpleased 'ugh' from Lucy as she speed walks to his side.
"You weren't listening to the whole thing, were you?" she asks, still glaring at him.
He looked to her and smiled, "Yes...I- was." Lucy folded her arms as she lifts a brow, not buying his obvious lie. Gray looked to one side as they continued walking in the way of their classroom. "Okay, maybe I wasn't....so....................Sorry?" he looks to her with a slight smile to see her fuming.
"You're unbelievable!" she says rather loudly, gaining stares from students not from her school. She just glared at the Fioreans (a name Magnolia High students call their enemy) with a look that could kill.
"Jeeeeeez, your loud, Luce." another voice came as the two rounded the corner, which gets an eye roll from Gray knowing fully well who it was.
Lucy looks to her other friend and glares at him as well, beginning to speak "Thanks, you guys, for being the best friends ever!" a hint of sarcasm found in her voice as she spoke.
Natsu Dragneel, the friend Lucy and Gray ran into - 18 years old, Senior at Magnolia High, an idiot/annoying pinkette/babbling bomb to Gray, very loud about his opinions, and has a very silent relationship with Lucy (it was very obvious to most that the two had a thing for each other) - was waiting for the two so they could finish walking to class together. You see, the three, plus one, we're lucky to have the same homeroom together. "Okay, I'm sorry."
It grew silent between the three of them as they began heading for class. "No, you're not," Lucy says looking towards Natsu with a glare and cheeks slightly reddened.
Gray let's out a chuckle as Lucy and Natsu's eyes were now on him. "You two act like a married couple," he says underneath his breath, going unheard by Lucy, but being clearly said to Natsu who was further away from him.
"Oh shut up, you stupid ice crazed freak!" Natsu says as he grinds his teeth at his friend-enemy.
Gray narrows his eyes with a glare at Natsu. "What'd you call me, Flame Brain?!" the two clashed heads as Lucy, a sweat drop appearing on the back of her head, was in the middle of it. The sad thing was, they were just right outside of their classroom...
Natsu and Gray, as said previously, were friend-enemies. They never seemed to get along, and when they did, it was only for a brief moment before they were at each other's throats again. It was rather annoying to Lucy and another friend they had.
"Boys." a voice sternly says in front of them as the two froze in place. Speaking of that other friend... "What are you doing?" the voice demands as the two straightened up and looked towards their Scarlet haired friend.
Gray put an arm around Natsu's shoulder as he fakes a smile. "Being friends!"
"Y-Yeah! We would never fight!" Natsu chimes in, giving a thumbs up to the friend he feared most.
That booming voice was Erza Scarlet - 18 years old, Senior at Magnolia Highschool, known as the Red-headed monster to Natsu and Gray, their schools Student council president, a very stern person, and nice whenever she doesn't have to deal with Natsu and Gray's crap. "Mhm, sure." she nodded her head as she looks passed them at Lucy. "Lucy? What were they doing?"
The two boys looked at Lucy hoping she would save them a beating, but only knew she would tell. She pushed passed Natsu and Gray as she stood in front of Erza. Lucy smirked with hands on her hips "They were fighting."
Natsu and Gray sulked as they looked at Lucy, eyes going soft as they begged with their eyes for the girl to take back what she said. "That's what you get for not listening to me," she says, looking specifically to Gray "and for calling me loud!" she looks at Natsu, a deep glare burning into the boy's eyes.
Erza's cheeks went red as she smiles. "Loud?"
Lucy snaps her glance to Erza as her face, too, was red - but a deeper shade. "I-It's not l-like that!"
Gray laughs again which gets another glare from Lucy, signaling him to shut up.
Natsu's face scrunched up in confusion. "What do you mean? Why is your face red, Lucy? Yours too, Erza?" the poor boy....too innocent for his own good.
"It's nothing, Natsu!!!!" Lucy yells.
"You see, Natsu...." Gray walks up to Natsu and drapes an arm around his shoulders again as if close friends who never fought, "Ready for a quick session of education about the reproductive system?"
At this point, Lucy's face was all red and burning - enough to be a third-degree burn "I said SHUT UP!" Lucy covers her face "I swear...I am going to die of embarrassment..." she says to herself under her breath.
Erza laughs this time as she places a hand on her hip, looking at Lucy. "I was just joking. Anyway, you all made it on time. You had one minute to spare before the bell rang."
Lucy regains herself as she, Natsu, and Gray start heading into class to the whiteboard which contained the seating chart.
_
From Left to Right, first-row front row, all single seats with a table to themselves:
Bailey G | Natsu D. | Lisanna S | Kev M | Kelly S
Levy M. | Lucy | Gus L | Bacchus G | Milliana
Cole F | Ren A. | Olivia S | Erza S. | Droy
Tanner S | Jet | Gray F. | Kinana | ???
_
Gray shook his head as he looked at where he sat. It wasn't the people he sat by, it was just the place of his seat. If there was one thing to know about Gray Fullbuster, it is that he likes window seats. He was only TWO SEATS away from the window and was wishing he were the person who was sitting by it, whose name he had never seen before.
"Oh, you gotta be kidding me!" Lucy's voice came as she stared at the seating roll. "Why does Natsu have to be in front of me!"
"Hey!" Natsu's voice came, sounding a bit hurt.
"Look on the bright side, Lu-Chan! You sit by me!!!" Lucy turned to the voice of one of her closest friends, Levy McGarden.
"LEVY!" Lucy says with a squeal, wrapping her arms around her BFF.
Levy McGarden - 17 years old, Senior of Magnolia High, a major bookworm, Treasurer of the Student Council, and library assistant. Lucy and Levy were the best of friends, there for each other, and major book readers.
The two walked away to their seats as they conversed about their summer as Natsu trails behind to his seat, feeling very included - note the sarcasm.
Gray turned for the direction of his seat and saw Erza already at hers talking to Milliana, a childhood friend of hers who was now a girl representative in the Student Council. He sighed once realizing he'd not be talking with anyone until the bell rang.
He walked to his seat and sat, looking to his side towards the window and looking out.
'Damn, it'd be better to have the window seat...' he was obviously still salty about where he sat. He agrees its a childish thing to wish he sat somewhere, but he liked staring out of the window. It calmed him.
The bell suddenly rang, which made Gray shift his gaze to the whiteboard where his homeroom teacher walked up to the front. It was Ms. Porlyusica, a woman who taught for over 5 years at Magnolia High. She teaches about medicine and healthy habits, and funny enough was Gray's stepsisters Grandma. She was crazy mean and stern, and always hated when students talked above her voice. She was also the whole school's nurse.
"Okay, you idiots, welcome back from summer break. I see that you are all in your seats." she scanned the room and glared once her eyes rested on Gray, and then looked around again. Porlyusica wasn't very fond of Gray, only liking him because she had to.
Gray's sister has told him countless times not to mind the glares she gave him, but Gray couldn't shake them off. "Now I'd like to-"
"M-M.s P-Porlyusica?" a voice called, which made all eyes lay on a boy whose name was Droy.
Porlyusica rolled her eyes. "Yes, Droy?"
The boy waited a bit before asking his question. "May I go to the bathroom.....?"
"You had five minutes to go before class, so no!" Porlyusica yelled as Droy sunk in his seat. She rolled her eyes as she tried to continue. "Anyway, before I was rudely interrupted, I wanted to say-" just then, the door to the classroom swung open causing all eyes to look towards the door. They all gasped once they saw the uniform that wasn't like theirs.
"No way!" a student called.
"A Fiorean!?" it was Natsu now, shouting above his normal vocal cords.
Porlyusica shot her one-thousandth glare that day quieting the students instantly as she looked to the girl with the opposite uniform as the rest. "How wonderful, another interruption! Were you sent from José?" the voice of the teacher wasn't happy.
Gray stared at the girl with blue wavy hair from his rival school, his eyes looking nonchalantly at her. He silently observed her, noting she showed little to no skin. Her stockings were long, causing no skin to show. The only skin showing was her neck, face, and hands. She was really pale, a crazy pale which made you want to ask if the girl ever had gone outside before. She was in a shy position and had a piece of paper clutched to her chest as her eyes were wide with surprise.
The girl looked at all the other students as she gawked, feeling embarrassed and double-checking the paper in her hand. "N-No...J-J-Juvia's schedule s-says this is h-her homeroom.." laughs danced around the room at the girl's third-person speech as Porlyusica uses her glare to silence the students again.
'Juvia, huh? Wasn't that the name on the seating chart by the window?' Gray thought to himself.
"Well, you're not supposed to be here. So 1, your either blind and can't see," the girl named Juvia at the front faced her head to the floor, embarrassed as ever. "or your schedule must be messed. Let me see it."
The blue-haired Fiorean handed the teacher her schedule as Porlyusica scans over it, Juvia still looking towards the ground. "Hm, well you're not blind, so your schedule is messed up. Stay here while I go down to the office and ask them about this. And students," Porlyusica stares out into the class. "stay silenced or there will be severe punishment." and with that, the old woman was out of the room.
Juvia, the girl at the front, stood awkwardly as the room grew silent. She was facing away from the class who only stared at her, sitting as silent judgers.
"Look at how pathetic she looks." a girl calls out from the front row, starting a whole mantra of voices.
"That's what you get from a lame old Fiorean." a boy shouts this time.
"Fioreans like her don't deserve to be in front of us right now."
"She better switch out of this class or I will."
"Me too!" another shouts
The voices kept coming as the girl with long wavy hair stayed up at the front in silence with her face facing away, right hand rubbing her left arm. Gray would feel bad and would definitely stop the rude name callings towards the mysterious bluenette, but a Fiore High student to him was just a nuisance.
"Shut up." a voice came, belonging to Erza. "Unless you want to get kicked by Porlyusica."
The voices died down after that, and not a moment later, Porlyusica burst through the door. "Well, Juvia, looks like your staying for now until the homerooms from your school are more cleared."
Juvia, finally showing her face to the class, looked at Porlyusica in horror "B-But M-M.s-"
"So if your staying, behave yourself. You Fiore High students never know when to stop talking or behaving poorly. Your seat is by the window in the back and I don't want to hear a peep from your mouth." Porlyusica says simply as she walks up to the podium at the front where she talks.
Juvia didn't move towards her seat and only stayed in the front. "Porlyusica, please, can Juvia-" the girl was obviously a Fiorean because no one disobeyed Porlyusica - that is unless you were looking forward to a visit to the Principals office.
"I said go sit, didn't I?" Juvia bit her bottom lip as she turned to her seat, walking down the row to get to it, obeying the teacher's orders.
Gray stared at her the entire time she walked to her seat. He felt some weird vibe about her, and his body was screaming at him as if she were important to him. He calmed his mind as he focuses on the lesson Porlyusica has but doesn't stop himself from looking over to this Juvia girl who was staring out of the window he wished to look out of.
Maybe if she switched out of the class, Gray could convince his sister to talk to her Grandma about putting him at the window seat. He'd love that.
