Chapter 6 - Crashing the Party

Gray walked on his lonesome to the location of the party. His friends had planned to meet there with most of their school to enter at the same time just for the effect and to be safe. They had yet to figure out why they were invited, but Gray and his classmates would, surely, find out soon.

As he got closer to the destination, he heard the sound of thumping music. The house it was at was huge and for sure wasn't any of Fiore Highschool's student's houses. This house didn't look rotten or broken at all, just clean and fresh. Although it was obvious there was a party going on with all the various lights shown through the windows, the house was very pretty.

"Hey, Gray." he heard a feminine voice call out as he stopped in front of the house, a group of Magnolians outside. Soon enough, the sight of scarlet red hair came into view and it was obvious that the girl was Erza. She wore black jeans, a striped black and white shirt that had a black jacket pulled over it, and to top it all off she had light red lipstick coating her lips. What she wore was way more fancier than what Gray wore - he just had on regular jeans, a redshirt, and a jacket with fur on the collar. "Nice to see you here, actually on time! Unlike Natsu and Lucy."

Gray chuckles as he stuffs his hands into the pockets of his jacket, looking around. "I wouldn't worry about the two of them... they're probably making out somewhere." At the same time, Gray had gotten whacked on the back of the head by some unknown person. He held onto his head which began to throb because of the hit. "What the hell?"

"Shut up, Elsa."

'How great.' Gray thought, instantly recognizing the voice of Natsu. "No, you, you stupid flame mouth."

Erza just shakes her head as she claps her hands to bring the boys out of their glaring contest. "That's enough, boys. Natsu, Gray was only joking, but at least you should try kissing Lucy."

Natsu's face blared with a slight red, he looking to the ground instantly as he sidesteps away from his rival. "Nah, that'd be embarrassing."

"What would be embarrassing?" Lucy's voice came as she walked up close to her friends, Natsu ridding the blush away on his cheeks. The girl wore a pink shirt with white shorts, shoes black, and her hair tied in a high ponytail.

Erza just chuckles and shakes her head. "It's nothing." she looks to Lucy's side where she expected Levy to be, but the girl was nowhere to be seen. "Where's Levy? I thought you said she was coming."

"She was planning on it....but then she called and told me she wasn't going to go. She has to do homework." Lucy says casually.

Natsu raises a brow, his face scrunching. "Homework? I didn't get any today."

Lucy sighs and looks at Gray while she speaks. "She had the same feeling as you, Gray. I am guessing she just made up a lie to not go."

"Good for her," Gray says, nodding nonchalantly. "I would've stayed but my ass would have gotten whooped by someone because I didn't go." he didn't say the name, but he was for sure talking about Lucy indirectly.

Lucy laughs as she puts a hand on Gray's shoulder. "I wouldn't have done that, Gray. It was your choice on whether or not you wanted to go."

Gray shrugged. "Well, still. It's too late to turn back now."

Out of nowhere, Erza had suddenly been tapped on the shoulder. She turned back to see one of her friends. "Kagura, hey!"

"Hello. I just wanted to see when we were going to head inside? You guys seem like you're the leaders of this party crashing."

Erza shakes her head. "I wouldn't say we're the leaders, or are crashing this party, but yeah. We can go inside right now."

Kagura nods and turns back to the small group of classmates - there were very few Magnolians who were there attending the party, the ones not coming having the same feeling Gray and Levy had. "We are going to head inside now," she announced as everyone turned towards Erza and her group who had already started walking up to the door.

Erza, not being sure if she had to walk in or knock, just knocked for the sake of it and then proceeded to open the door - and once the door was open, it was like time froze.

The front room they had just opened the door to went silent, meaning music stopped and teens stood still as they looked towards the door to the unknown but well-known faces.

Everyone stared, gawked. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Natsu and his fellow classmates stared into the crowded room of teens, as some sipped the drinks in their red plastic cups. It was like this until a white-haired guy waved his hand and the music began again.

Gray rolled his eyes as he looks to the side, realizing who was coming his way.

Other Magnolia students spread across the house as they began to enjoy the party, but Natsu and his gang stood at the entrance of the door.

"Cousin!" the same guy from before walked up to the group, a pink-haired girl close behind with arms folded and a timid stance.

Gray stood still as if waiting for the hug he was about to get whether he liked it or not. "Cousin?" Lucy tilted her head to the side as she watches the white-haired man walk up to Gray and give him a friendly hug.

Gray rolled his eyes again, "Lyon, really?" he said with annoyance in his voice.

The Lyon guy let go of his cousin as his lips curled into a smile. "It's been a while!"

"I wish this 'while' would last an eternity," Gray says a little too seriously, an eye-roll accommodating his little snarky sentence.

Lyon Vastia is Gray's cousin. They had been there for each other ever since they were born. Lyon is funny, very built, and annoying - to Gray, at least. Their bond was unbreakable even though it seemed Gray hated Lyon's guts at the moment. Lyon is a student of Fiore Highschool, making him and Gray sort of rivals.

"Gray, you never told us you had a cousin," Erza says aloud, Gray snapping his gaze to the strict friend of his.

Gray looked confused. "I haven't? Maybe it's a good thing... Anyway, I swore I told Natsu."

"You did, Ice Princess! I just never had met Lyon before." Natsu speaks as he walks up to Lyon. "I am Natsu. Nice to meet ya." he held out a hand for Lyon to shake as he took it.

"Oh, I know!" Natsu tilted his head to the side, running through his mind any possible way Lyon could know who he was. "You stood up to one of our school's major groups today, didn't you? No one from Fiore High has the guts to stand up to those 5..."

Natsu formed his mouth into the shape of an 'o'. Gray cleared his throat as his friends, and Lyon stared at him. "Well Lyon, that blonde girl over there is Lucy Heartfilia,"

"Hello!!!" Lucy said as she smiled widely. Normally, she would be glaring at anyone from Fiore Highschool, but since Lyon is Gray's cousin she decided to lay it off.

"And that redhead is Erza Scarlet." Gray finishes, pointing towards Erza.

Erza smiled towards Lyon as well, she put her hands behind her back, clasping them together.

Gray sighed, "There. I introduced everyone to you. Can you leave us alone now?"

Lyon shook his head as Gray glared, "I gotta introduce you and your friends to my girlfriend. You know, Gray. The one I mention all the time at family dinner?" Gray hesitantly nodded his head as Lyon grabbed ahold of his cousins elbow, pulling him away from the entrance of the house and down the one step towards a pinkette. "This is Meredy Maverick, the love of my life!"

Meredy smiled awkwardly towards Gray as she shuts her eyes. At this point, Lucy, Natsu, and Erza had joined Gray and said a quick hello to the girl in front of them.

Meredy Maverick was a shy girl. To new people, at least. However, she is always loud around her friends including Lyon. Lyon and she had been dating for a little over a year. She was kind, caring, and a real beauty.

"She's a little bit of a shy
, but I am sure you'll get to know her well. Also, she is a little intimidated by you all." Lyon said as he got stepped on his foot by Meredy.

"Hey!" she hollered, face going red as she pouted towards her boyfriend.

Lyon laughs as he grabs hold of her hand and intertwines their fingers as they hold hands. "She was a little shocked once she found out you stood up to a group like the Element four and Gajeel."

"The Element four and...Gajeel?" Lucy repeats, tilting her head in confusion for Lyon to elaborate

"It's the major group from our school you stood up against today," Meredy said, whilst looking at Lucy with a smile. "I was surprised once my friend from that very group told me about 'the group of four standing up against us'," she explained.

Natsu started snickering. "Why do they call themselves the Element four and Gajeel!?!? Bahaha!!!"

Meredy gave Natsu the stink eye as he stopped his laughter, gaining a sweat drop on the back of his head as Meredy's stare burned through him.

Lyon butted in, laughing nervously as he squeezed his girlfriend's hand interlocked with his, making her nerves calm down. "Be careful about words there, Natsu. Even if it's just one little comment about her best friends group, she gets protective. Even though Mere wants everything but her dear friend to be in the group.

"Ohh," Natsu says as he shakes the uneasy feeling he got from Meredy's aura. Seriously, it was as scary as Erza's!

"Anyway," Lyon said again as he looks to Gray. "want a house tour? This is Meredy's place after all."

"THIS IS MEREDY'S HOUSE?!"

Natsu and the others were getting a tour of Meredy's gigantic home, Lyon leading the group to each room. Whilst showing off the big rooms and all of their decor, he was holding Meredy's hand and squeezing it every now and then.
Lucy couldn't get over the fact that Lyon and Meredy were such a cute couple, to the point where she would smile at giggle silently as she secretly watched the two. She loved reading romance novels and she truly felt there was one right before her eyes. She wished, someday, that she would find a guy that looks at her the way Lyon looks at Meredy - with sincere feelings of love and comfort. She had never been with another person, let alone kissy kissy with anyone. She always read and fantasized about her being in a romantic relationship with someone, and she wanted it to happen as soon as possible with a certain someone.

"And this is the living room!" the room Lyon had just shown was big, to say the least. It was filled with teens, but the group could see every piece of furniture and decorations. There were people chatting, sitting, drinking the water from their classic party cups, and even dancing. "If you look very closely at the corner of the room on your left, you'll see the one and only Element Four and Gajeel."

Sure enough, the Magnolia high group looked towards their rivals who were standing and chatting with, well, everyone. They sure were popular but were huge jerks - Totomaru had his arm wrapped around a girl as they leaned against the wall, Sol was chatting with Aria and a girl, while Gajeel was standing alone as a silent observer, every few seconds bringing the cup to his lips to sip.

"I wonder where Juvia is...." Meredy says whilst looking at Lyon then back to the group in the corner of the living room. Though she whispered it to only Lyon so Gray and his friends didn't hear it.

Lyon shrugs and says aloud, unlike Meredy "The bathroom? I don't know, you never know with her."

"Who are you talking about?" Gray asks a little snappy, wanting the answer.

Lyon looks at his cousin with lazy eyes "Mere's friend. Anyway, do you all want to go sit down on a couch somewhere? Talk?"

Gray opened his mouth to say a clear cut 'no', but Erza beat him to speaking. "Of course," she says with a plea and no hints in resaying what she had just said.

Gray groans annoyingly, not wanting to spend another second with his annoying cousin. If it was Lucy who said yes, he would try changing her mind, but since it was Erza, he knew he couldn't tell her they shouldn't, he'd get his head chopped off!

They all walked to a big couch and sat as they began talking.

"So, how are you and Gray related?" Lucy asks, resting her chin in opened palms that were being held up by her elbows resting on her legs.

"Oh! His Mother is related to mine, their sisters." Lyon says with a smile whilst Meredy lays her head on his shoulder.

Erza nods. "Interesting..." she says as she looks over at Meredy who was smiling "How about you, Meredy? Who do you share this house with?"

"....my Aunt. She is out on a business trip in Italy and granted me permission to throw this party," the girl says, sighing after saying what she had just said.

"Speaking of your house, Meredy....." Lucy speaks up as she taps her chin. "Sorry for bringing this up to you Fiore Highschool students, but don't your school mates live in shady places? I was half expecting the party place to be an abandoned home." the rest nod in agreement as Lyon opens his mouth to explain.

"Yeah, that's pretty much the stereotype at our school. Meredy's Aunt, though? She has a lot of money so she got this house."

"Forgive me for asking Meredy," Gray says and all eyes are on him. "What happened to your parents?"

"My parents...?" Meredy asks and raises a brow but her eyes go sad looking. "Their...passed. My Aunt pretty much took me in and raised me most of my life."

"I'm sorry..." Erza says, looking towards the ground. Family was a tough conversation to her and even her friend group. Gray, Lucy, Natsu, even Erza...they all had had bad family experiences.

Meredy shrugs. "Oh no, it's fine. It really is!" she smiles happily at the Magnolians with such excitement, it was questionable.

The whole group smiles as well, Meredy's smile being very contagious.

"So…" Gray speaks once more "are you really Lyon's girlfriend or is it just a hoax? Last time I checked, Lyon isn't able to pick up girls with his charm. He's very…weird, doncha think?"

Before Meredy could open up her mouth, Lyon spoke in an offended tone. "HEY! You and I both know that Meredy is my real girlfriend!!!! And I am not weird."

"I beg to differ," Gray says with an eye roll and a slight smirk at his embarrassed cousin. Embarrassing your family is really fun at times…

"He is weird," Meredy says aloud, Lyon looking at her offendingly. But, before Lyon could question, Meredy spoke again. "But he's my weirdo!!!" She chuckles at her boyfriend's face of relief, Lyon finding that at least someone he cared about wasn't mean.

Suddenly--they hear Meredy's name being called and all eyes turned to see someone familiar.

Meredy stands quickly as she walks over to a blue-haired girl - which for sure was Juvia from Gray's homeroom class, also from The Element Four and Gajeel group.

"Juvia! There you are, I didn't see you with your group!" Meredy says with delight, holding Juvia's hands. "Is Totomaru being touchy again..........?" she says the last part bitterly.

Juvia shakes her head, which makes her beach wavy hair shake. The girl wore a long-sleeved grey crop-top, a black skirt that had overall straps, black stockings, black booties, and a black beanie on her head. "Can Juvia have her keys to her car?"

"You're leaving....already?" Meredy asks as Lyon stands to join his friends, Gray, and his just sitting and watching the scene.

Juvia nods, making her curls move along with her. "You know Juvia's Dad, Meredy. Juvia needs to get home because....'' the girl was well aware of the people both her friends were with, so she was careful with words. "....you know."

Meredy bites her bottom lip as she looks at Lyon for help. "I will give you your keys back if you meet my cousin and his friends," Lyon says, looking at Juvia with hopeful eyes.

Juvia looks to the group she surely has seen before and furrows her eyebrows, and then looks back at Lyon. "Juvia has already met them. Now, give Juvia her keys," she says seriously, looking at Lyon with demanding eyes.

"No, you haven't met them. They stood up to your group and you have seen them, but you surely don't know their names." Lyon says feeling a little too smart.

Juvia rolls her eyes as she second-guesses her decision but decides to go with it. "Fine..."

"Perfect." Lyon turns to Gray and his group, pointing his pointer finger. "That is Natsu, Lucy, Erza, and that is my cousin, Gray. Guys, this is Juvia, Meredy's best friend and my friend."

Juvia smiles at them but then loses it and looks at Lyon with a serious face. "Juvia met them, so can she have her keys now?"

Lyon sighed and digs through his pant pocket for her keys as Meredy begins talking with her, talking clear enough for Gray and his group to hear - but not on purpose.

"Can you at least go home and get a bag to sleepover here with Lyon and Me? You know your Dad won't want you home, as always." Meredy says while grabbing Juvia's arms and rubs her hands up and down them. "Please, Juvia... I don't want you hurt."

Juvia shakes her head as a no. "He'll...…..you know what, this conversation is done. Thanks, Meredy though for trying to save me, as always. I appreciate it."

Meredy smiles as Lyon hands Juvia her keys. "No problem, Juvs. Let me walk you out to your car?"

"Sure," Juvia says easily as she and Meredy walk away, Meredy looking back at Lyon and giving him a reassuring smile.

Erza looks at Lyon who seems to be sad. "What's going on?"

Lyon shrugs it off and looks at Erza. "Nothing...Anyway, where did we leave off?"

Gray looks at his cousin seriously. "No, Lyon. What is going on with Juvia and her Father?"

"I said it's nothing," Lyon answers back.

"Obviously not."

Lucy looks at Gray. "Gray, please. If he doesn't want to tell us, we won't force him to."

Gray rolls his eyes, really curious as to what is happening, but figures he isn't getting any closer to Juvia ever in his life so why even bother with knowing what is going on?

"Actually, Lyon?" Erza asks as Lyon's eyes are on her. "Do you possibly know how, or why, we were invited to this party?"

Lyon nods with a smile, "Meredy was so surprised that you stood up to Juvia's group, and was even happy. So happy that she decided to invite you all and a few others, just to make it fair."

"Ooooooh," the group says in unison, looking at Lyon with understanding eyes.

Lucy nudges Gray. "See? It wasn't a way to make a fool out of us."

Gray rolls his eyes as he zones out of the conversation, him having enough.

As the night went on, the party died down. And just before the party-goers knew it, it was over. It ended at 11 at night because they all had school in the morning.

Overall, Gray actually had a fun time. It was fun to be at a party, not talking with his cousin, but the party was nice.

One thing still boggled his mind, though. He cursed himself for caring about a Fiorean, but he just couldn't shake it off...

I started school Monday, and needless to say, it wasn't that bad. Although I woke up on Tuesday and already wished it was summer.....but I survived the first week of school!!! Yay for me!!!

Anyway, Meredy is one of my favorite characters in Fairy Tail (I have too many to count) and I sort of based her personality on mine 😅. She is timid and shy around new people, but when with friends or online, she is a PARTY and a total CRAZY PERSON. Das me, p much :>.
