It's been a week since Harry and Malfoy announced their engagement, and the wedding is today.

They wanted it to be as soon as possible, so as to get this war over with.

They decided together that it should be held in the Great Hall, the safest place in the castle.

And now Harry finds himself staring at Draco Malfoy, who is simply dressed in his school robes, matching Harry. McGonagall reads from the script that joins them in holy matrimony. Most of the students have shown up, but a few, including Ron, have chosen to opt out.

It's funny. Harry had always thought his wedding would be much later in life.

Then again, he had also thought his friends would be alive to see it.

Malfoy's grey eyes catch Harry's. You sure? he mouths.

Harry nods, although he is far from sure about this.

They give each other the rings numbly, Malfoy's gold and Harry's silver.

They had found the rings in an extremely expensive shop. They were made especially to heighten the bond between a married couple, and Harry and Malfoy figured they would be perfect for them.

"I do," Malfoy says, his eyes never leaving Harry's, and Harry repeats the statement.

"I now pronounce you spouses for life, you may now kiss your partner."

Harry inhales sharply, before leaning forward and kissing Malfoy softly.

It's nothing like kissing Ginny had been. This is softer, sweeter, more heart-wrenching. It makes him want to throw this all to hell and kiss Draco Malfoy for the rest of his life.

He doesn't, however. Instead, he pulls away, the sensation twisting in his heart.

It's like drowning, but better. He can't breathe, but somehow it doesn't matter. Malfoy's very being is his own, and suddenly he feels as though he could destroy the world with a glance. He feels powerful, controlled, safe.

Malfoy's fingers interlace with his, not for power, but for comfort. His eyes meet Harry's and they almost seem to have a wordless conversation before agreeing on one thing.

I promise.
