What An Education Can Do

Camile is a simple girl with an extraordinary story. She has short blonde hair and lapis eyes with emerald streaks. She speaks German, Polish, and English fluently. When speaking, her words sometimes are hard to understand with her German accent. Camile is a current secret ambassador for Poland. She also currently resides in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

Her story starts in 1847. Camile was only 5 when found by her family. She lived with her grandfather and two cousins, Gilbert and Ludwig. Gilbert was someone Camile always looked up to. He was 7 years older than Camile and Ludwig was 3 years younger. She lived in the small town " Bromberg, but it is now referred to as Bydgoszcz". Growing up Camile was like the "housewife" to her family. She did all the cooking and cleaning while the others were at work and school. Her whole family had or will, attend Jagiellonian University. Her family was full of popular politicians of Poland and West Prussia, and Camile didn't want to be left out. "As I grew up, I would read the textbooks that would be passed down so that I knew what to expect," she explained. Her family was very large and powerful. Their profession normally took them far from home so Camile grew up mainly without a family.

Camile knew that women were not allowed at that school. Eventually, she decided to pretend to be a man and enter that way. "My cousins helped so much with that and so did my aunt who also attended the same way I did". Even though she barely slept, she made it. She was always doing homework and studying or trying to pass as a man. Binding alone took around an hour. She always had Gil buy her clothes. She had 5 hours of class a day, 3 hours of study, 4 hours in total for transformation, and 5 hours for her job. Life was hard, but she passed all her classes and was one of the top students. Camile Schmidt worked harder than any student to become who she was and to accomplish her goals.

Camile ended up graduating at the top of her class with a doctorate in law and international relations. Since she enjoyed helping others, she went into a political field then to become one of the first female ambassadors in the year 1911 at the age of 64. She was the ambassador for the Province of Posen. She travels around Europe giving speeches on her life story in between her work schedule. Camile Schmidt later died in 1917 at the age of 70.

Camile's life story had affected many as she told of her struggles of not getting a proper education until she was 19. Camile believed that even though she was a woman she could do whatever a man did. She lived a full, happy life and changed many. While in office she tried to stop the separation of Prussia but fail to end up having the Province of Posen being the last thing she ever argued. The agreement was sealed the day before she died. Her fights save many from having to become accustomed to a new culture and/or new dictator.
