Secret war...?

Secret War

Chapter 1

Kaylin

Kaylin jumped down the steps of the bright red school bus. It was bright red because three years ago some kid vandalized it with a bunch of red paint and the school had just been painted red and the school had a bunch of extra so they painted it completely red. Kaylin waved to her second best friend Aviria and linked arms with Hope, her best friend and next door neighbor. A group of other 7th grade girls shoved past them causing them to unlink.

"Hey-" Kaylin started but cut off when she realised who the girls were. Rayanna and Caisy. She thought in disgust. In the middle of the big group two girls were laughing and acting "Cool". Their blonde hair shone in the bright sunlight. Kaylin glanced down at her dirty red hair and sighed.

"Why are they the most popular girls? They're so mean!" Hope said pronouncing "They" as she would pronounce "Poop".

"I don't know. Want to come over to my house?" Kaylin asked as they rounded their street corner.

"Uh... Sorry my parents are making me go to this thing at our church. It's pretty much just learning about how teens act, Ugh I wish I could go to your house instead! My parents are making me wear a dress, on a Thursday!" Hope answered sighing dramatically in between sentences.

"That sucks." Kaylin said. Sucks for me too, She thought, Now I have to stay home with Matthew and Elliot. Ughhhhh.

"Well bye, hopefully i'll survive this" Hope was saying. Kaylin waved and called after her, "Have hope, Hope!" They both laughed. This was a bad dad joke that Hope's dad said when Hope was struggling on something and it had kind of caught on. Kaylin opened the bright yellow front door of her house. She stepped inside and threw her backpack and orange sneakers in the entryway closet. She raced downstairs hoping to beat Matthew, her eighth grade brother, to the TV to choose the show. Kaylin didn't have to compete with Elliot, her fifth grade brother, because his bus was always late because the driver always insisted on being last out of the school parking lot. Mr.Tevin probably meant it to be nice to everyone else but Kaylin was glad she wasn't on his bus. She ran towards the basement couch and found Matthew sitting and smirking in the best seat tossing the TV remote up and down in his palm.

"Ha, Ha, Ha." He said each time the remote hit his palm. "Alright Kaylin I'll be nice," Nice? I didn't even know he knew that word. Kaylin thought jokingly as she reached meaningfully towards the remote. Matthews hand jerked away and his smile widened.

"Oh no, not that kind of nice, you can choose, Avengers or Marvel?" He asked as though she would actually care.

"You're so mean!" Kaylin yelled. Just then Elliot came bouncing down the stairs.

"Can we pleeeeeease watch Pokemon?" He begged.

"No!" Kaylin and Matthew hollerd in unison.

"I'm going to tell mom!" Elliot cried

"Don't! You know she hates it when we fight!" Kaylin tried to stop him but it was too late. Kaylin heard her mothers footsteps and saw her blue jeans coming down the stairs.

"Are you fighting again?" Her sad disappointed voice asked. Her eyes were tired looking and had wrinkles around them. Kaylin could tell she hadn't gotten much sleep.

"Uh...." Kaylin didn't want to lie but she also didn't want to tell her mom yes.

"I thought you all said yesterday that you would stop. I'm disappointed in you all." She glared sternly at each of them in turn, "No TV time today." All three kids groaned but didn't argue. Their mom walked back up the stairs to her room where she was probably sitting on her bed editing boring Non-fiction books. That was their moms job, she was an editor. She worked when she wanted and was able to stay home all day. Their dad was an Architect and worked on designing buildings in the city. Kayli's stomach churned, she wanted to put the blame on her brothers but she knew it was her too. She left without saying a word. She felt her brother's eyes on her back as she stepped up past the last step. She went to her room, grabbed a pair of bright red flip flops with pineapples on them, and slipped outside. She headed to the big oak tree in her front yard and climbed up onto the lowest branches. She was about twenty feet in the air when she stopped climbing. Kaylin settled into her favorite spot in the tree and reached for a large box nestled in the crook of a branch. She opened it and brought out a green pen and a few sheets of blank paper. She had left the box up there when she last came because she found she drew and wrote the best thing when she sat alone on her branch. Luckily none of the other girls from school but Hope lived near enough to see her climb into her tree because if they did Kaylin would be too embarrassed to climb it. She thought about how much she got ticked off by her annoying brothers and how she could get Matthew back for taking the remote. She was annoyed with Elliot too because last week he had borrowed her favorite pen and hadn't returned it.

"Oh!", Kaylin gasped aloud, "I know!" She threw the paper and pen back into the box and raced down the tree and ran inside.

"I've got it!" She yelled down to the basement.

"Got what? A pet frog?" Matthew said, bringing back an old argument. Matthew had found a frog and was keeping it as a pet and somehow figured out that Kaylin hated frogs even though she didn't recall telling anyone. One morning the frog ended up in her shirt drawer in her dresser but Matthew always denied it was him. I had to wash each of my shirts. Twice! Kaylin thought.

"Exactly that, You know how we fight a lot and Mom doesn't like it? Well why don't we start a what would you call it? Oh! A war! Kinda but without killing and stuff... It would be a prank war!"

"Uhh..." Elliot said confusedly.

"We would fight without mom knowing and it would be official!" Kaylin's voice rose in excitement as she thought about it.

"That sounds dumb" Matthew said. Oh it's just like him to say my ideas are dumb! Kaylins thought.

"Well... Ooh we could invite people from school to take sides!" Kaylin's idea was starting to form in her head, "It could be a secret and no one would be able to tell adults!"

"So it would be like a secret war, grade versus grade? Fifth grade through Eighth?" Elliot asked tentatively.

"Yeah!", Kaylin shouted, " We can even call it the Secret War!"

"I'll only agree with this if at least ten eighth graders get on my side." Matthew said, actually sounding excited, "I'll finally get you both back!"

"For what?" Elliot asked.

"Being my siblings." Matthew's annoying "I've got a nasty idea" smirk was back on his face.

"We're going to need rules though... Can I write them?" Kaylin asked.

"Uh sure..." Matthew was already walking to the home phone and calling someone, probably Dixon, his best friend. Kaylin raced up stairs to the computer in their dining room. Elliot followed her up.

"What device can I use?" He whined. Kaylin decided it wouldn't be fair if she didn't help him.

"You design a flyer then I'll print it out when you're done." She said.

"Thanks!" Elliot grabbed a pen and a paper and rushed to the table. Kaylin designed a flyer that said:

She printed about one hundred of them and then printed Elliots which said:

After she was done she wrote down the rules and went downstairs to ask Matthew if he agreed with them. She walked downstairs and found Matthew, Dixon, Charlotte, and Max sitting around the coffee table and chatting. Charlotte and Max were Matthews' other good friends.

"Hey." Charlotte said to Kaylin.

"Uh hi, I just wanted to show Matthew the rule sheet and see if he agrees with it." Kaylin stepped forward and handed Matthew the paper.

And last, No stealing anything unless you are going to give it back within a week.

"Sure" Matthew said, "now go back upstairs."

"I wanted to find my book, I think I left it in your bookshelf." Kaylin said though she knew she hadn't. She remembered how last year right before winter break, Matthew had stolen all her shoes but a pair of flip flops and she had had to wear flip flops to school. A mean plan formed in her head. It wasn't the worst thing ever that she had to wear flip flops because they lived in Arizona so it usually didn't snow. Kaylin went into Matthew's room. It was surprisingly tidy and neat. She stepped towards Matthews dresser and grabbed the empty hamper beside it. They had just done their laundry so it was empty. She pulled open the top drawer of his dresser and emptied all the socks from it into the bright blue hamper. She skipped the middle drawer because it had underwear and stuff like that in it. She went down the dresser until all the rest of the drawers were empty except for a pair of sweatpants, A striped long sleeve shirt and a pair of long socks. She slowly creaked the door to the basement open and peaked out. All the other kids were staring down at something on the table. Kaylin raced out and turned. Beside Matthews room was Kaylins room and she stepped inside, shutting the door behind her. She grabbed A couple old shirts from her drawer and set them on top of the pile of Matthews clothes. Kaylin stepped back outside of her room and headed towards the stairs. This was the risky part, if Matthew remembered that we had all done laundry yesterday then he would know something was up. Kaylin passed and walked up the stairs. I guess he doesn't have much of a memory. She thought. She walked up to Elliot's room and shoved the hamper in his closet where she knew he wouldn't check until after school tomorrow. Just for good measure she grabbed her shirts off the top of the pile and walked towards the laundry room. Kaylin threw them in and started the wash just as Elliot came in.

"Where are the rules?" He asked her as they both walked out.

"Uh just one second." Kaylin reached into her pocket and pulled out the paper. Elliot agreed to them then went back to work on his sign up sheet.

. . .

The next morning Kaylin got up early and went out to the bus. Their mom was gone each Thursday morning at her book club so she trusted the kids to get themselves ready. She waited a minute and Elliot joined her. Elliot went to the middle school too because the Elementary had so many kids they had to move the 5th graders to the middle school. Kaylin's red bus pulled up and she stepped inside. Hope raced to the stop and jumped in with her. Hope always rode the bus when Kaylin had to because she wanted to spend more time with her because they only had lunch and science together.

"Hi!" Kaylin said. She started pulling out flyers and setting them down on the empty seats. When there was a kid in the seat she handed it to them instead.

"What's that?" Hope asked as she sat down. Kaylin handed her a flyer and explained the plan.

"Oh cool!!" Hope exclaimed, "Can I have some flyers so I can pass them to my classmates?"

"Sure!" Kaylin handed half of her stack to Hope and they talked until the bus stopped at the school.

"See you at lunch!" Hope said as she walked into the school. Kaylin headed to the west wing and pulled out the sign up sheet she had made the day before. She wrote Kaylin Tanner and Hope McTail. She also took out the rules and taped them underneath so no one but the kids would know where to look. Then she went to her first class, Math.

. . .

Yes I designed that lol

Kaylin stepped into the cafeteria and sat down at her usual table. Hope was already there, so were Tess and Aviria.

"Hey guys, did Hope tell you about the War?" She asked as she pulled out her lunch. She had carrot sticks, a tunafish sandwich, and some grapes. Kaylin popped a grape into her mouth as she waited for an answer,

"Yeah! We already signed up!" Aviria answered.

"Your brother looks hot!" Tess said as she stared into the crowd.

"Wait? You mean you like him?" Kalin gaped.

"Ewww no. He's just wearing winter clothes!" Tess said. Kaylin looked to where Tess was looking and saw Matthew wearing the outfit Kaylin had left in his drawer.

"Oh yeah, that was me. The secret war has begun!" Kaylin said. The rest of the day Kaylin handed out more flyers and hoped people would sign up. She went to the west wing with Hope after their last hour, Science.

"Hey, look! Twelve other people signed up not including anyone from our lunch table!" Hope said excitedly.

"That means we have sixteen people!" Kaylin said. They both rode the bus home and hung out together the rest of the day planning.

Chapter 2

Matthew

School stank for Matthew. He saw at lunch Kaylin and the other girls at her lunch table laughing about something and he wouldn't be surprised if it was him. Matthew guessed it was Kaylin who took his clothes but he couldn't be sure. He had scoured her room before he left for school but he couldn't find anything. He was late for school and he has to bring a slip back to his mom. He stepped out of his school bus and walked inside his house. Instead of going straight to the TV he went to Elliot's room. He checked under the bed, in the bed, and behind the chair. He reached for the handle to open the closet and swung the door open. There in the closet was his bright blue hamper. It was overflowing with his clothes.

"Elliot!" He hollered. His face turned angry and.

Lol i think this was at least 3 yrs ago that i wrote this.... idk tho. might have been two..
