Prologue

Mist shrouds the Thunderclan camp. MaplePaw is just wondering whether to stop looking for Shewpaw, her sister when she hears a scream. Racing through the trees towards the noise she wonders if her sister is in trouble. Another scream pierces the air a bit farther from the first. Maplepaw halts in fear. Why would someone be screaming, and should I go towards it? She wonders. She pushes the fear away thinking of her sister. I need to see who it is. She creeps forward jumping as another scream is heard. Its my sister! She realizes. Running towards the noise she stops about five yards from where she heard the noise.

"Please, Please don't kill me." Maplepaw hears her sister saying. Kill? Who wants to kill her? Stalking forwards slowly she stops in fear as she hears a voice answering her sisters.

"I need to, I don't want to." A soft sob the female voice and Shrewpaw screams again. This time the scream is cut short. No! Maple knows she shouldn't rush in but she does anyways. A cat is standing over the unmoving body of her sister. Maplepaw jumps on the cat raking her claws down their back.

"You killed her!" She screams, crying as she sinks her teeth into the cats back. The large she-cat shakes her off.

"Yes I did." The she-cats sad amber eyes are the last thing Maplepaw sees before the cat rips her throat out.

Chapter 1 Rogues

Frost walks along the Thunderpath waiting for a break in the monsters. I wonder if Fang would miss me if I never showed up. She wonders. Behind her Wind carries a small vole and sighs when she sees Spike running to them with no prey.

"Fang won't be happy." Wind says indicating the fact that Spike didn't bring prey.

"Fang shouldn't care, he has enough prey." Spike growls. Frost sighs and sets her rabbit down. She nudges it over to Spike. Shock spreads across his face than realization clouds his eyes. He looks at the rabbit sadly.

"You think Fang is going to kill me. Because I haven't brought back prey for the last six days." He mutters.

"Well, if Fang gave us more time to hunt I know you would do better. Its alright, take it. Fang won't mind I've not brought anything." Frost answers. Spike shakes his head and leaps across the Thunderpath leaving the rabbit.

"He's going to get killed because of his stubbornness." Wind says as she follows Spike. Frost picks up the dead rabbit wishing she could bite into it now. She races across the Thunderpath and screeches as a monster appears out of no where. Heart racing she turns on her heels and jumps out of the way in the last second. Turning quickly once it has passed she runs safely across. Breathing heavily she sprints to catch up with her siblings. Once out of danger she pauses to realize she almost died. Maybe it would have been nice. She thinks, Maybe it would be better than starving everyday. No I couldn't leave poor Spike alone, even Wind might miss me. She steps into Fang's camp just as Fang is walking towards Spike.

"So, no prey again?" He asks thoughtfully. Spike looks down in shame. "You could have been such a good fighter, a hunter even, if you cared to feed your fellow cats!" Fang yowls loudly spitting into Spike's face.

"He does care!" Frost races up to Fang blocking his view of Spike. Wind shakes her head than walks to the large pile of prey dropping her vole into it. Fang steps up to Frost shoving his face into hers.

"Awww, isn't that cute. Sibling love, too bad Spike will be dead by the end of the day." Behind her, Frost sees Spike deflating.

"He could hunt better if you wouldn't starve us!" She shouts.

"Don't forget who saved you from your awful family, who took you away from the cats who were going to kill you." Fang whispers threateningly.

"You saved us just to kill us? I would have been better staying with them, you did nothing to help any of us!" Frost retorts.

"Than you can die too!" Fang screams, "Die! All three of you!" He glares at Wind, "Unless you have any sense and do what I tell you to?" He asks her. Wind shrinks and looks at Spike who is whimpering on the ground and Frost who glares warningly back at her.

"What- What would you like me to do?" Wind asks as she stumbles forward.

"Ahh a willing soul out of the three of you. Prove your worthiness and kill Spike and Frost or you'll die with them!" Fang shouts manically. Frost gasps and turns on him.

"You wouldn't! You can't make her do that!" She screams at Fang. Two cats she recognizes as Rock and Claw step up and pull her away from their leader.

"I'm not making her do anything. I'm giving her the choice." He says calmly back to Frost as she claws at Rocks eyes. Growling and scratching she is shoved into a circle of strong cats that are loyal to Fang. Spike is guided into it as well.

"Well?" Fang asks Wind.

"I'll..." She starts, "I'll kill them." Bowing her head she walks to Fangs side. He puts a paw over hers.

"You made the right decision." He says. Frost looks at Wind in disbelief. How could she do that? How can the sister I loved and grew up kill us because an evil cat tells her to? Frost slumps to the ground. Spike shivers beside her.

"We're going to die." He whispers in shock.

"Not if I do something about it, I've always fought better that Wind." She mumbles back. Spike looks up at her.

"You'd kill her?" He asks. Snake, a large black tom shoves Spike.

"No talking!" He shouts roughly. Beyond the circle of cats, Frost can see Wind eating bits off of the large rabbit Frost had caught. Wind looks sick and is only eating tiny bites. Suits her, Frost thinks, She deserves to regret her choice.

"Times up!" Fang shouts, "My cats want blood. Kill them now!" Wind mumbles something unintelligible and Fang laughs.

"Cats, bring the prisoners to the middle." Fang says menacingly. Frost wonders how it was that five minutes ago they were members of Fang's group and now they're prisoners. Rock and Snake shove Frost to her feet and push her and Spike to the middle of the camp.

"Any last words?" Fang asks

"Yes, I actually have a few," Frost growls, "First, Fang your a mousebrained fleebag full of worms! Second, Wind I won't be at all sorry when your dead lying there like a piece of prey. Third, I hate you, both of you! And fourth, these will not be my last words." She huffs and circles Wind as if she was the prisoner, not Frost.

"Well than, Wind you may begin." Fang shouts glaring at Frost. Frost glares back at him and jumps onto Wind. She rakes her claws down Winds shiny grey and white pelt making a pained scream slip from Wind's mouth. She slips out from under Frost and runs towards Spike. He growls and throws the blunt of his weight onto her pinning her side down. Frost stalks up and rips her claw through Winds ear. By than the group around them was chanting "Blood, blood! Blood!" Wind whispers something as Frost pounces on her stomach. Reaching in to slit Winds neck she pauses. Around her everyone chants louder. Wind closes her eyes.

"I need you to listen to me." Wind says softly, "Act like you're still hurting me, drawing the suspense of killing me." Frost looks at her confused that does as she says. She pretends to rake her claws across Wind's stomach as Wind whispers to her again, "I needed to say I would kill you or we would have no chance of escape," She rasps, "When I say go all three of us need to run towards the Thunderpath." Understanding dawns on Frost's face and she smiles. She had to get us out of the circle of cats so we would at least have a chance! Shame reaches her as she remembers how mean she was. Spike nods and Wind acts as if she's given up. Opening her mouth to say the word to kill her she yowls, "GO!" Leaping off of Wind Frost runs towards the gap between a dark red tom and a tabby she-cat. Caught by surprise they step out of the way. Wind races by her and Frost follows. When out of reach they look back. Rock, the large grey tom that has always served Fang, is on top of Spike pinning him face down to the ground. Frost gasps and yells for Wind to come back.

"If we go back we might not make it out." Wind says.

"I'm going, you can come or stay." Frost growls. Racing back towards the camp Wind following at her heels she sees the cats in front of her. Three bulky cats blocking her way. An idea pops into her head and she pushes off of the ground higher than she's ever jumped. Soaring over the cats as if she were flying. Landing on Rocks back, she sinks her teeth into the back of his neck. Screaming he shakes her off as he leaps off of Spike. Wind scrapes her claws down Rock's face and he retreats.

"Thanks." Spike says shakily.

"No need, we're a family we wouldn't leave you behind." Frost answers and they race towards the Thunderpath again. The three cats are still there. One is Snake and the other two are she-cats Frost doesn't recognize. Snake leaps forward. He nips Frost's tail and scrapes her side. Throwing her sideways she hears a loud crack as her head hits a rock. Snake leaps on top of her and leans down to rip her throat out. Fighting to stay conscious Frost kicks out with her hind legs and stabs her claws into Snake's throat. Surprise covers his face than he falls sideways off of her. Standing up slowly she notices one of the she-cats nocked out or dead on the other side of snake, Wind standing above her. The other cat was scrambling away slipping on the rocks blood following in a trail behind her. Spike has blood pooling below him from a wound in his side but he shakes it off and they continue to the Thunderpath running alongside it before they cross it when a break in the monsters appears. Running along the hills they don't stop until dusk appears. Slowing to a walk Spike sighs in relief.

"That was so fun!" Frost squeals.

"That is not what I would call 'fun'" Wind frowns back at her, "Where are we supposed to go now?" Frost grins at her sisters worried face.

"I don't know yet, but when we find it. I think we'll like it better than living back there." She says nodding her head back towards the noises of the twoleg city.

"We should get some rest." Spike calls out to them from a small hollow in the ground, "This should work." They run over to him and snuggle together in the small hole, falling asleep in an instant.

Dreams race through Frost's mind. Snakes blood spilling as he dies at her paws. Winds sickened face. Frosts hatred toward Fang. She finds herself walking on hills in a large moor. Two cats race by her catching a plump rabbit. Jealousy reaches her. Suddenly she is being pulled away into the clouds. A large starry cat beckons her back smiling as she leaves. She can see a lake and a pine forest. Oak woods and an area with streams. The moor and in the middle of the lake a small island sits. Cats cross a log to get to it. Suddenly she wakes up. Shaking Wind and Spike awake she smiles at them.

"I know exactly where to go!"

Chapter 2 Trek

Frost sighed as she stood up from the small cubby hole they had found in the side of a rock the day before. How long can this last? She wonders. They had been going for three days now towards what Frost is sure is the lake she saw in her dream with the starry cat. She stretched and sat in front of the hole when she heard Wind and Spike awakening.

Theere ya go, your order! Oh wait... You weren't even here to eat???
