Prologue

Dear readers (if you dare to read even though it clearly states, NO READING, and OFF LIMITS.) My name is Destiny. Destiny jones, but please refer to me as D. well not please it's more like, I will find you if you call me Destiny. You probably are thinking, Destiny? Is that even a name? Well obviously it is, it's mine! But it shouldn't be. My parents wanted a unique name for their first kid so they named my older brother Alexander. Like no nick-names policy, but then then they met one other Alexander and totally freaked. So then they decided, we'll choose something super ugly and weird. It's not like our kid is going to care. Well get this, I CARE! Well fine it may have been a little bit different but... So now that you know your restrictions and my "before weird things happened" part of life, you're free to read. Not exactly but I know you would still read if I told you not to, so onto my personal life.

Chapter 1

It all starts with a truck

Home alone again, I thought as I took a candy bar from our candy bag, snickers fun size, like always, we never have anything else. I sat down on the love seat and stared out the window waiting for my mom. Two years ago my dad died in a chemical explosion so my mom works late hours, and my brother, Alexander, always stays at our aunts house. I glanced at the clock. 10:27 pm, mom should be home in three minutes.

I saw a cloud of dust coming down the road. Huh... that's weird, she's never on time. I thought. The door clicked open.

"MOM? Do you know where the TV remote is?" I called down the hall.

"Um Mom?" I slowly walked down the hall and looked at the doorway. It was shut. I heard footsteps and turned around just in time to see a man in an army suit touch me with something that sent an electric shock down my spine. I felt dizzy and tried to find the door handle for balance but everything was blurry so I couldn't find it and I fell forward, into the man's outstretched hands.

I awoke lying on something very uncomfortable. I looked around and saw other kids all connected by a chain, me included. Oh, they put me in the back of the truck, I realized. I stood up and surveyed everyone.

"Wha-" I was cut off by a shove to the ground. I turned around and saw a man that was wearing the same uniform as the one that grabbed me.

"What were not allowed to talk? I mean what can we do, all chained up like this, plus you kidnapped us, so I guess you just have to make our life worse, don't you?" I said looking up at the man. I could tell I'd embarrassed him.

"Oh, but that's totally fine, I understand your intentions. Oh wait, do I? NO I DON'T."

"Uh... Fine but no funny business." he said looking away. I looked over at the girl next to me, she had light brown skin, wavy black hair, shining blue eyes, and a smooth, soft face.

"Hi. My name is Destiny. Call me D though." I said, smiling at her. "Where in Arizona are you from?"

She looked up at me. "No Arizona. Me uh... from Mexico." she said with a strong hispanic accent, stumbling over her words. That's weird, I thought, why would they go to Mexico and then come all the way to Arizona just for kids?

"Oh cool, Um what's your name?" I asked

"I May." she said excitedly because I'd understood her. I turned back to the man.

"Where are we going?"

"England."

"Why?"

"No more info available." he said as if he were an answering machine.

"Why are you-" I was cut off by a rumbling stop. It woke up most of the other kids but those who didn't were kicked until they woke up. The back of the truck opened and the end of the chain was yanked, knocking me over and sending me toppling on May.

"Sorr-"

"No.. shhh" she said. I nodded and we followed the chain out of the truck . It was dark, I'm guessing about eight-thirty. I could now see all the kids fully. There were fourteen of us. We were at an airport. There were about 50 men in uniforms. they grabbed the end of the chain and yanked the chain toward the side of the airport. I saw a small door on the side of the airport. One of the men opened it with an ID. It lead into a big room filled with drawers and huge suitcases. One of the men opened the drawer, and pulled out about 50 plane tickets. The other men started uncuffing us . After we were all uncuffed they shoved us toward the suitcases. a man behind me stuff the handkerchief in my mouth so I was muffled then he pushed me into a huge leather suitcase and zipped it almost all the way. After everything got quiet I felt the suitcase rolling and I could hear the busyness of the airport. After about 5 minutes the rolling stopped. I could hear the man holding my suitcase talking to a security guard. Ha! they'll never get past security!

Wow this is getting weirder and weirder.....

"you need to go through security sir." the security guard said.

"I already have, here is my plane ticket, see? It's already stamped." the man holding my suitcase said. Oh pickles!

LOL oh PICKLESSSS

"The suitcase to?"

"Yeah right here."

We started rolling again for about 5 minutes until we stopped and the suitcase was lifted up and halfway unzipped. I looked around and realized I was on the luggage carrier. The man had a familiar looking walkie-talkie in his hand. Oh no! I realized That's the thing that I got shocked with! The man touched it to my arm and I had the same shocking sensation as I passed out.

Chapter 2

Arrival

I woke up still in the cramps suitcase but some of us and zipping it. It was May.

"Are you fine?" May said with her funny English.

" Yeah, thanks," I answered. I laid down on the floor and stretched out.

I yawned "What's going on?"

" talk um... the better with Leah." May said as she pointed to a young hispanic girl.

"You know her?" I asked

"She is my sister." May said. that was the first fully English sentence that I'd heard her speak. I walked over to the girl named Leah.

" hi! Are you May's new friend?" She asked

" yeah. So what's going on? And how old are you?" I asked

" I'm six. And they haven't told us much, but I've been moving around the world with them for 7 months, and J'u has been moving for the longest. She has been with them for almost a year and two months." Leah answered

" oh my pickles... Are you the youngest?" I asked

" yeah."

" Where are we?"

" in the luggage part of an airplane" she answered

" Where is everyone from?"

"J'u and Lee, China. Mau and Naylah, hawai. Dobo and Jamba, Zimbabue. James and Alice, Alaska. Shelly and Mark, Canada. me and May, Mexico. Tyler and you Arizona." she said pointing to everyone as she said their name.

" wow that's a lot of-"

"SHHHHH! Someons coming!" Someone whispered.

" who?" I said trailing off as a boy with blonde hair walked in through a secret door. kid bright blue eyes and was wearing a camo t-shirt and shorts he smiled at me as he walked towards J'u.

" You first." he said grabbing the chain we were on earlier out of a suitcase and reaching one of the cops out. J'u already had her hand out waiting for him, and he snapped the Cuffs shut on her arm. he moved down the line doing the same thing over and over. but when he got to me he looked annoyed because I hadn't already put my hand out.

" who Do You Think You Are!?" he said

" Dunno? but who are you?" I retarded. I saw May's head shaking in the corner of my eye but I paid no attention as I went on.

" I mean you're the one putting handcuffs on us, so who are you?" I said as I smiled at him. I looked at his eyes, they were turning, turning red? he stepped towards me as I backed away he reached for my arm and

" Trey don't!!!" someone screamed. Trey turned around and looked straight at May.

" You don't think you can get away with that, do you? oh May May, you're funny but not in the way that I like." he said as he walked towards her and reached his hand up, her stance shrinking.

"NO!"I yelled, "I'll cooperate just don't hurt her!"

"Finally, you guys are just a waste of space and time, I can't believe they actually went around the world to get you." Trey said grabbing my arm and spitting at my feet. After he had everyone on the cain he walked out through the door. We waited in silence for about 20 more minutes. Finally we felt the plane land and a man in a blue suit with a red tie and sunglasses walked in.

" my name is General McCain, and I will be taking on a grand Tour of unit 303 sorry about the uncomfortable flight, and talking and touching is allowed if you were wondering. the man said,

" please don't ever call me General McCain I prefer General M. what are each of your names?"

We went down the line telling him our names until he got to me.

" you're the lucky one only one flight, what's your name sweetheart?"he said smiling at me. I didn't smile back.

" I'm D." I said flatly.

" full name please."

"D and that's all." He wrote something down on his clipboard and looked back at me. got him

" Well, that's an odd way to put your name ,Destiny."he said still smiling at me as if I had given him the answer.

" but if you say so... First we'll go to the dining room."

a robot came out from behind him and grabbed the end of the chain and yanked us down the hallway. We stopped at a big French door. General m opened it and we stepped inside. the floor was checkered and the whole Space was covered in tables in an orderly fashion. There were hundreds of kids piling food onto their plates, and my stomach growled. I hadn't realized how hungry I was.

"Don't worry," General M said, " we'll eat in no time, but first I have to show you to your new house it's not the biggest but don't worry you'll love it."

The robot yanked us out of the building and into a neighborhood made out of kids living in mansions. General M

lead us to one near the corner of the neighborhood. all the houses had huge backyards and each came with its own swimming pool! he walked us inside and uncuffed us all. We were standing in a huge living room that had stairways up and down.

"You're free to go see your rooms, if you're from China or Zimbabwe your rooms are downstairs, others upstairs." We all seem to understand English and headed our separate ways. upstairs was huge there was another living room filled with furniture, books, a TV and a gaming set,But we walked past all that. We walked into a very long hallway which has three doorways. The first door was blue and had the boys, who came upstairs with us, names and they walked in. the next door, was purple and had Alice and Shelly on it. Leah, May, and I Ran down to the last doorway it had all our names on it and was a beautiful teal. we opened the door and gasped. It was huge, each of us had our own king size bed, hanging chair, snack bar, and there were three TVs! The bedspread was Navy in the walls were Coral, all the trim and other furniture was white or gray. It had teal carpet to match the door, and it was so fluffy. I sat down on the carpet and looked up, there was the biggest chandelier i had ever seen! there were three other doors leading out. I opened the first one and it led to a huge bathroom, having coral finishings and white tiles. the second one let's win another smaller hallway that had three doors. each one had one of our names on it. I stepped into mine, it was mostly personal lounge space, but it also had a door that lead to a walk in closet! We all went back to the main room and opened the last door. a led to Shelley and Alice's room. it was pretty much the same as ours but it was smaller since it was designed for two.

" isn't this place great?" Shelly asked flopping down on her bed, her curly golden Hair Landing in a poof.

" Yeah but what about your family, and why did they kidnap us?" I asked thinking about my mom and my brother. Shelly looked away. Alice answered for her,

" her parents died in a car accident and she hasn't seen her brother since he was adopted, and her sister disappeared 2 years ago."

" oh, I'm so sorry my dad Died in a car accident too." I said

" let's do some things... other." May said rubbing her wrist.

" yeah! Who wants to watch the news?" Leah said as she sat on Alice's bed and turned on the news. an Asian lady popped up on the screen and the captions said she was talking about missing kids. a picture of J'u and then one of Lee popped up on the screen. We switched news channels and turned on one that was being broadcast from Washington DC. there was a blonde haired lady on the screen she was also talking about disappearances. pictures of kids we didn't know started popping up on the screen I thought that maybe I saw Trey but I wasn't sure.

" the most recent disappearances are James Vienna from Alaska. Alice Nolan from Alaska. Tyler dushane from Arizona and Destiny Jones from Arizona. four pictures popped up on the screen and I saw myself staring right back at me. the door clicked open and Leah turned the TV off. It was General ad saying that we had to go to our last stop. You're allowed back into the main building still unchanged, but something told me if we tried to escape it wouldn't work. We walked down many quarters until we stopped in front of a locked door. General M grabbed the key off his belt and shoved it into the door handle and the door clicked.

" These are the lesson quarters, it's for kids who won't cooperate and I hope you won't ever have to see it again." he said opening the door. It led to a dimly lit Corridor with glass walls I looked past the walls and saw kids all chained up in glass rooms. They all looked miserable and they watched us as we walked by. No one said anything as we walked out and back to the mansion. When we got there food was prepared on this table and everyone else I'd down but I headed upstairs I jumped on my bed and stared at the ceiling. I wasn't hungry anymore I felt sick. Not like sick I'm going to throw up, like sick that's horrible. I close my eyes and listen to the soft tick of the clock as I slowly fell asleep.

Chapter 3

I heard the door slowly creak and open and I sat up. May opened the door.

" What is bad with you? you never ate some."She said looking worried.

" uh... nothing really." I said not really wanting to talk about anything.

"Okay... good um, night D."She said as she jumped into bed and pulled up the covers. Leah was already fast asleep in her bed so I tried not to make any noise. but I just couldn't seem to fall back asleep, so I went and walked around outside. It was dark and I was alone but I didn't feel alone. I sat down by a tree and started crying. I missed my mom so much. I heard a tree branch crack and I stood up.

" don't worry it's just me, Alice." Alice said stepping out of the Shadows.

" Were you here the whole time?" I asked

" no. I just got here I guess we had the same thought." She sat next to me and we stared at the moon. sometime along the way she leaned her head on my shoulder and fell asleep and so did I.

We woke up to the sound of a loud gong and kids were walking past us to the main building.

" What's going on?" Alice said groggily

" I don't know, maybe we should follow everyone else." We were still in our clothes from yesterday so we just followed the crowd to the building. Once we got there a man was standing by the door, asking everyone their names. we told him ours and he let us in telling us to just follow the crowd. Finally everyone made it to a huge dull room with a stage and seats. I saw General M sitting on one of the seats on the stage. We found the rest of our group And sat down. when everything finally got quiet and a man stood up and greeted everyone.

" you're probably wondering why you're here, and why you were kidnapped, and I'm here to answer all your questions. First let me explain why you're here. We fear that there's an upcoming battle and if we want to win we need a new kind of army. you figure out why it's new, but you are all recruited and we need your help. I know we may seem like the bad guys right now but please in time you'll understand what we're doing. so now let me introduce myself, my name is Sergeant Smith. and now could you give a round of Applause for the one and only, General Montenegro!"

an older man with gray hair stepped up and smiled.

" Thank you, thank you. We are going to split you into groups of six, first of all with the people who are from the same state or country you are from but also four others. here is Sergeant Smith to explain who is on what team." he stepped back as sergeant Smith got back up.

" I am just going to read your country names so if you hear it go to the group of chairs I am talking about. Group number one, Australia, China, and Russia. group number 2 Taiwan, Japan, Florida." he continued rambling off finally we could tell we were near the end there was only about a hundred of us left standing.

" group number 437, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and Indiana. group number 438, Mexico, Columbia, and Arizona." Yes! I thought. There were 32 more teams after us but finally he was done and sat down. General M now stood up.

" Sorry for the long wait," he said, "we're going to have earbuds for you, they help you understand languages that you normally couldn't. Come to the front of the room and grab one each. then go back to your spots and get to know your group"

we all did as we were told and We slowly made it back to our spots. I was so glad that I was with May and Leah. Tyler was in my group too. the other two kids I didn't know they were from Colombia. They were both boys and looked like they were twins.

"Hey," I said sticking the earbud into my ear, May spoke something in Spanish but for surprisingly I understood it.

" wow!," Leah said in Spanish, " these are weird" we talked for a while and we got to know The two Columbian boys, Santiago and Mattias. Then we were sent to a training ground. I was wondering what it was until we got there. It was a flat grass field with targets and dummies spread all over it.

" What's This for?" Santiago said, or at least I thought it was Santiago maybe it was Mattias though. There were five other groups in this training area, and I saw Shelly smiling at me.

" please go to the nearest General to learn your instructions." a robotic voice boomed through the speakers. We walked over to the nearest man in an army suit and he smiled at us,

" so can I have your names?" he asked

" I'm Tyler, these are Santiago, Mattias, Leah, May, and D." Tyler answered for us all.

"By D Do you mean Destiny?" He asked.

"uh, yeah."

" Okay well let me explain first. Question number one, why did we go all the way across the world and around the world just to get you certain kids? Well, I have the answer. We realized that there was an abnormal thing going on during the year 2008, and we studied it further and realized every kid born on any day of the year during that year, had extraordinary connections to the elements, fire, water, air, and Earth. they could somehow almost speak to the element, and get it to do their will. and you each seem to be classified as Earth. please no more questions, just do as you're told and head over to Oliver." he said pointing at a boy with dark brown hair and bright green eyes. Walk towards him and sat down. slowly everyone else in the training area made their way over to where we were sitting. Shelly and her group sat down right behind us. everyone quiet it down and Oliver started talking,

" please sit down like so," he sat down criss cross and had his arms touching the ground next to him, and we followed.

" feel the Earth, hear the Earth, and speak to the Earth." he said closing his eyes. I close my eyes and instantly my head starts throbbing. they're not welcome. sssave us. you're not welcome. get out, out, OUT! there was a voice in my head. It sounded somewhat like how I would imagine a snake's voice and it was screaming at me, and it hurt. I opened my eyes and realized I was sweating. I looked around and saw everyone still with their eyes closed, some of them were even smiling. what's going on? I thought. I saw Oliver open one eye and look at me.

" please everyone remember to keep your eyes closed." he said as if you were talking to everyone, though I knew it was directed to me. I closed my eyes again and put my hands on the Earth. Sssomeone help. they are taking us. Pleassse. I opened my eyes again and saw that I was lying on the ground and and the others were staring down at me, I was sweating again.

" You okay?" Oliver asked

" Yeah, yeah I'm fine." I said, Everyone got back to their places and Oliver motion for silence.

" Did anyone feel a connection to the Earth? like they could maybe talk to it, and become friends?" he said. everyone but me raised their hands.

"um... okay destiny could you stay here for a bit doing the same training exercise we've been doing? the rest of you follow me." Oliver said. Everyone else got up and followed Oliver and I sat down again. Ssso, You don't want to go away? then we will find you, and dispose of you. and you'll be ssssorry. I opened my eyes again, I can't do it, I just can't do it. I thought. I looked down at my watch and realized I'd been sitting there for a while it was 11:53. Oh, I should be getting back to the dining room now. I headed to the dining room.

When I walked into the huge room everyone was bustling around filling their plates with food, I got in line and slowly moved towards the food. Once I finally got to it I saw the food and gasped, There was every imaginable type of food and more! I piled my plate with Curry, Salad, hamburgers, pizza, potatoes, and all kinds of fruits and vegetables,I was looking at the other foods that I didn't know but I decided not to try them since some of them had something that looked like fish eyeballs. I went and saved a spot next to May and Leah, then I headed to the drink stand. There was pop, juice, and other drinks. I decided to have fruit punch and I went and sat down. I still had my earbuds in and I could understand May and a couple other girls speaking in Spanish.

"hi!" May said, "Isn't it so awesome, all the different kinds of food! The Mexican food makes me feel like I'm at home! Oh, well, I'm still missing my family, other than Leah."

"oh, yeah I guess it's okay..." I still was confused after the strange voices in the training field and I didn't really feel like telling anyone about it, so I just ate my food in silence and listened to May and Leah talk to the other girls at my table.

" Everyone, report to your training field at 1:00, don't be late" a voice boomed over the loudspeakers. I checked my watch and saw that we had 15 more minutes. I finished up quickly, and walked out of the room. I've had a little bit of extra time so I went back to my new house. I went into my room and grabbed my backpack, Which I had taken with me, luckily. I opened the side pocket and pulled out a picture of my mom, my brother, and me. I didn't see my brother that often but I still missed him just as much as my mom.
