Chapter Ten
Chapter 10
John's POV
Morning light streamed through the open window, and I felt Sherlock's heavy breath tickle my ear, his arm still wrapped around my waist. I lay where I was, pressed against his body, enjoying the close proximity.
"Morning," Sherlock mumbled in my ear, his breath shifting, blowing on my hair.
"Good morning, Love."
"Good morning. Nice sleep?"
"Yes, it was pleasant. And you?"
"Yeah, same," I smiled as Sherlock kissed the top of my head, and I snuggled in closer to him.
I heard my phone buzz on the top of the drawers, and so I reluctantly crawled out of the bed, much to Sherlock's disappointment and grabbed my cellphone before getting back into the bed. "It's Charlie," I said with a frown.
Sherlock chuckled. "What does he want?"
"He has a boyfriend apparently... And he just sent me a picture."
"Let's see him then, if it's not Tom."
I opened the new message, and saw who he was dating. I toppled out of the bed, and Sherlock fell with me. "Whaa-" Sherlock cried out, lying on his back. I held my phone down over his face so he could see. "Of course!" Sherlock shouted. "Of course, of course, of course!"
Another picture came through, and I looked at it, before spluttering with laughter. I showed Sherlock the black and white filtered picture of Moriarty and Charlie kissing passionately. Sherlock gagged, making me laugh even harder. "I knew he was up to something!" Sherlock laughed. "Hang on. I have an idea. Give me your phone."
I handed Sherlock my phone, and got up, going into the bathroom. I did my business, and as I was washing my hands, I gasped, noticing once again that I had a bright love bite on my neck. Sherlock came into the bathroom, tossing my cellphone from one hand to the other, smirking at me.
"Just remembered?" He nodded towards my neck.
"People are going to talk now, Sherlock, I hope you realise that."
Sherlock shrugged. "Come on, get dressed. We have things to do."
"Like what?"
"You'll see."
Sherlock handed me back my phone and I smiled my thanks at him. We went back into our room, and began getting dressed. Sherlock was getting into his tight white shirt and black dress trousers, and I was getting into a tight blue t-shirt and black jeans. Sherlock smiled at me as he put on his shoes. Once his laces were done up, he came over to me and wrapped his arms around my waist, and kissed my forehead. "You look gorgeous as always."
"As do you," I said, my voice muffled as I buried my head in his chest.
I kissed the top of his head and then pulled away. "Come on, let's go."
I threw my head back and sighed, but followed Sherlock out the door anyway. We walked through the school together, chatting away, and I knew people were looking at my neck curiously, none of them remembering what had happened the night before.
We got past the gates, and hailed a cab. One stopped immediately, as they always did, and Sherlock and I got in. Sherlock told the driver an unfamiliar address, and soon we were on our way there.
I saw the huge rides in the distance before I saw the actual grounds. I looked up at it and smiled, in awe that my boyfriend would bring me out to a place like this. "I didn't think this would be your scene, Sherlock," I commented as we drew nearer to the fair.
"Its not. But it's not really Moriarty's scene either."
"A double date," I realised, voicing my thought.
Sherlock nodded. "Sorry. You know I can't help but play a good game."
"Of course. Just so long as you remember to have fun with me too."
Sherlock kissed my cheek as the cab came to a stop. He handed the cabbie some money, and I noticed there was a generous tip, and we got out of the cab. Dinky music played, and children squealed with delight. I grinned just looking at it all. I grabbed Sherlock's hand and pulled him around, looking at everything in awe.
Sherlock spotted Moriarty and Charlie, so we went over to greet them. Sherlock and I both pretended nothing happened with Moriarty. I knew Sherlock would get him anyway. Moriarty seemed to have forgotten about the whole shooting incident, and I was thankful that Charlie was oblivious to the drama.
Sherlock was somewhat kind towards Moriarty, and Charlie and I tugged the two around, making them go on rides with us. We got on a ferris wheel. Sherlock and I sat on one side, and Charlie and Moriarty were on the other side. Sherlock and Moriarty talked amongst themselves, obviously playing their little game, while Charlie and I spoke about how great London looked from up there.
When we got down, we continued walking around the area, playing games, Moriarty and Sherlock having competition to please Charlie and I, thinking we didn't notice. "Those two are so competitive," Charlie whispered to me, looking amused.
"They sure are," I agreed, shaking my head with a laugh.
"How do you guys know Jimmy anyway?"
I fought the urge to vomit when I heard Charlie call him 'Jimmy'. I also had to fight the urge to vomit because of Charlie's question. How should I answer that? Do I tell my friend that his new boyfriend is a psychopathic killer who had his (ex?) boyfriend shoot me? "Just... Around," I said with a nonchalant shrug.
Charlie gave me a quizzical look but didn't question it.
After about an hour or two of playing games, Moriarty went to go win Charlie a teddy, and Sherlock dragged me over to the carousel. I looked from the carousel to Sherlock and I saw him look at the horses go around and around with a wistful look on his face. "Can we go on it?" Sherlock asked me quietly. "Please?"
The heartbreaking realisation hit me like a tidal wave. "You've never been to a fair, have you?" Sherlock shook his head sadly. "Then of course we can go on it," I grinned, kissing Sherlock's hand.
Once we had paid to go on the carousel, I looked at Sherlock, both of us grinning. "Pick a horse, any horse," I said, signalling to the horses in front of us. Sherlock picked a light yellow one with a darker yellow mane.
"I'm calling him John," Sherlock said with a smile as he mounted the horse. "Because it's the horse version of you, and I want to ride you whenever I can."
"Sherlock! There are children nearby!" I rolled my eyes as I mounted my horse. "In that case, however, I shall ride this one, because this is the horse version of you." I got on a chocolatey brown coloured horse with a black mane. It looked rather majestic, and that was my Sherlock.
The music began playing and the horses began going around slowly. I myself was bored with it; it was for five year olds anyway. I began to worry. Sherlock had been so excited to go on it, probably expecting something great and exhilirating, and it was really even duller than I had remembered. I didn't want my boyfriend to be disappointed. I turned back to look at Sherlock, and I saw he was grinning from ear to ear, his hands around the pole as he held on. Sherlock then began to laugh, and I laughed with him. We went around again and again, knowing Moriarty and Charlie were watching, but neither of us caring.
Suddenly, Sherlock stopped. He jumped off the carousel, while it was still going around, and he ran over to me, easily keeping up. He pulled me off of it, and screamed at everyone to run. No one would budge so he pulled out his gun, I forgot he still had it and kept it on him, and aimed it at the heads of everyone until they all ran away, terrified. I didn't know what was happening. Moriarty had dragged Charlie off, so it was just Sherlock and I.
Sherlock put his gun away and scooped me up into his arms, running at full speed away from the carousel. The grounds were now completely deserted, which was a good thing.
"Sherlock! What is going on!" I said, just before a deafening roar sounded, and we were blown off our feet.
It was a bomb. Sherlock had just saved us all from a bomb.
(A/N- Don't blame me! It was my friend James' idea!! I will update tomorrow if not tonight, but I am absolutely swamped with homework, but this story is my top priority, which is probably a bit not good. Anyway, please comment/vote/share/follow if you enjoy/ wish to hate on me, it's all fine!
