Chapter Fifty Three
Chapter 53
Sherlock's POV
John was looking out the window miserably at the torrential rain outside when I came out of the bedroom, with only a white bed-sheet around my otherwise naked body.
"What're we going to do today, Sherlock?" He asked as I hugged him from behind, resting my chin on the top of his head. He leaned back into me, and I smiled and kissed his head.
"We could play a board game? Cluedo, perhaps?"
"NO!" Came his instant reply.
I pouted. "Why not?"
"Sherlock, last time we played that game we almost caused World War III. Literally."
"Only because Mycroft was involved!" I retorted. It's true. We were playing with the Lestrade-Holmes' and then Mycroft began talking about bombs he could get his hands on to end the game once and for all. None of us, not even Graham, knew whether he was being serious. My brother really doesn't have a sense of humour. At least, not a good one, anyway.
"Sherlock," John growled, though it was lovingly (if that's possible) "You can't even play properly. At least, not by the rules."
"What do you mean?"
"The victim can't kill himself, Sherlock, that's not how the game is played."
"John, it was the only possible explanation, giving all the facts we had," I huffed. "Given the way he died, and where he was found-"
"No, okay? No Cluedo," John interrupted, before looking around. "Okay, here's something we can do that shouldn't start a fight... Or end in divorce." He pulled away and walked over to the other side of the room. I gulped. I knew he was only joking, but that word rang out it my mind. Divorce. I knew John loved me almost as much as I loved him, but I knew he was too good for me. One piece of paper and a couple of signatures could end our marriage. And that thought terrified me more than I'd like to admit.
"Sherlock?" John's voice dragged me out of my troubling thoughts. "You alright?"
"Yeah," I breathed with a nod. He knows you're lying, idiot, he knows you as well as you know everything else. Looking down at his hands, I saw John was holding the clicker for the stereo. He pressed the 'play' button before placing it in his back pocket, then wrapping his arms around my neck, and I wrapped mine around his waist, bending down significantly.
"What's this song?" I mumbled into his hair.
"I Don't Want To Miss A Thing, by Aerosmith."
"Oh," I replied, holding him close.
John began quietly singing along, nervously looking at his feet, while I spent the whole time drinking in his beautiful features.
"I could stay awake just to hear you breathing
Watch you smile while you are sleeping
While you're far away and dreaming
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment forever
Every moment spent with you is a moment I treasure
"Don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
"'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
"Lying close to you feeling your heart beating
And I'm wondering what you're dreaming,
Wondering if it's me you're seeing
Then I kiss your eyes and thank God we're together
And I just wanna stay with you
In this moment forever, forever and ever
"I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
"'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
"I don't wanna miss one smile
I don't wanna miss one kiss
Well, I just wanna be with you
Right here with you, just like this
"I just wanna hold you close
I feel your heart so close to mine
And just stay here in this moment
For the rest of time, yeah, yeah, yeah!
"Don't wanna close my eyes
Don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
"'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
"I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
"'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
and I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
"Don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep, yeah
I don't wanna miss a thing
I don't wanna miss a thing."
The song finished and another one began, but we continued swaying. John looked up at me, a blush appearing on his cheeks in the most adorable fashion, as he realised I was staring at him.
"Sorry for singing, I just-"
"Nonsense," I interrupted his nervous mumbling. "You have a lovely voice. And I speak only the truth, John."
Before John could speak again, I moved my hand behind his head, gently pulling him in so his lips locked with mine. Our mouths and tongues moved in synchronisation, and I felt John's hands pull my sheet off my body -- though I had to wonder how it had stayed up throughout our dance.
He led me over to the sofa and then pushed me down onto it, before climbing on top of me. I raised my eyebrow at him. "Still... fully... clothed... Mr. Watson-Holmes?" I asked between kisses. "We'll have to do something about that."
John let out a startled cry as I flipped us so he was underneath us, and I hastily took off his clothes, until he too was naked.
I moved my hips against John's and he moaned into my mouth, using his talented fingers to tug at my curls, deepening our kiss. Before we could go any further, my phone began to ring. John stopped kissing me, thinking I was going to answer it.
"Who cares? It can ring out."
John pushed me off him. "Sherlock, it's serious. No one ever calls you unless it's an emergency."
Groaning, I answered the phone, scowling when I heard Mycroft's voice on the other end. "Hello, Brother dear."
"Mycroft," I growled, "Why the hell are you calling me? I'm on my sex holiday!"
"Oh, Sherlock, don't be so crude, it's called a honeymoon. And to answer your question, I have come across some information that you might be interested to know -- However it would mean you'd have to come back immediately."
I could tell John was listening, because he nodded when I looked in his direction, as if to let Mycroft continue.
"Alright, Mycroft, I'm listening."
