Ch.5:Fighting for a cause

I don't have a specific time line for this book, just that it takes place somewhere in between season 2 and 3 of the anime.

Given the fact that I was trapped here, the bed that was given to me was surprisingly comfortable.

I picked at my nails, biting them in anxiety. This whole situation had me a nervous wreck. If he was introducing me to other ghouls, who's to say I won't be killed?

As I stared at the ceiling, there was a soft knock at the door.

I hesitated. It definitely wasn't the guy from before. He would've just walked in.

Despite me not answering, the metal door opened, revealing a purple haired female. Why did she look familiar as well?

"Y/N?" Her voice was soft, with the tiniest hint of sternness.

I looked up at her. Her hair was dark purple with a fringe covering her right eye. Her eyes were a deep purple and had long lashes.

She was fairly normal height, probably an inch or two taller than me.

She was beautiful, but I wouldn't say that out loud.

"If you can follow me, please?" She stepped away from the door, motioning for me to follow her.

I reluctantly stood up, following her out.

We walked down a long hallway, one that was lined with metal doors and benches. Our walk was silent though.

"Just so you know, he's not usually like that." My eyebrows furrowed "what do you mean?"

"He's not usually one to kidnap people, but we need you. For some reason he has this weird infatuation with you. He won't even tell the rest of us what's going on" my eyes widened "there's...more of you?".

She looked back at me "our organization is called 'Goat'. We're a rights group for ghouls. It's not my business to tell you anything more than that." She held out her hand "my name is Touka Kirishima, and trust me when I say, we don't want to hurt you." I looked down at her hand anxiously.

Despite the fact that she was a ghoul...all of her actions were human like.

I gulped but took her hand into mine. It...was soft.

"That guy from earlier, who was he? What's his name?" She sighed "you ask too many questions. He'll tell you his name when he wants to." She scratched the back of her neck "despite what he did earlier, he's not usually like that" I tilted my head "huh?".

"He may be an ass at times, but he'd never touch someone inappropriately, not unless he had their full consent. He had to take extreme measures though, and since you weren't listening, he had to do it himself. He's a good guy, tends to keep to himself, but he's good. He'd never hurt someone unless they deserved it, and you definitely didn't deserve it. We trust him with our lives. Everyone here has a personal connection to him. Whether it be former enemies to allies, or longtime friends. We have his back, and he has ours".

I pursed my lips as I looked down at the ground "you all must be pretty close, huh?" She nodded.

"I've been meaning to ask...what's with his hair?" Her gaze downcasted "it's not something he enjoys talking about, it kinda brings up some bad memories, so don't ask him about it" I nodded, slightly confused.

The rest of the walk was silent. I didn't want to say anything in hopes of not offending her.

Soon, we approached two large metal doors. Touka opened them and walked us into a large auditorium like room.

There were several people gathered, not alot, but enough to make me feel anxious.

A teenage boy with dark purple hair approached us.

"Wow, look who's finally here. What took you so long, dumbass? You get lost?" Touka narrowed her eyes at the boy "cut the crap Ayato. Where is he?" He shrugged while stuffing his hands into the pockets of his leather jacket "you mean one-eye? He's over there" he jabbed his thumb behind him.

Touka nodded, grabbing my wrist and dragging me behind her.

"Hey, half-ass!" He seemed to slightly cringe at the nickname but turned to us.

As soon as his eyes met mine, I froze. All the memories of earlier that day came rushing back.

Unlike earlier, his left eye was covered by a white medical eyepatch. His hair seemed a bit more messy, but his clothes were neat.

He seemed to notice my frozen state and sent me a smile, but it never reached his eyes.

"Touka, thank you for bringing her. You can leave now" Touka sent him a stern look "if anything happens, I'll kill you half-breed" with that she walked away.

My breathing turned shaky as I was left alone with him. All kinds of scenarios were running through my head.

Hands were placed on my shoulders, and I looked up.

"I'm sorry about earlier. I didn't mean to scare or harm you in any kind of way. Is there any way you'd be willing to atleast forgive me a little bit?"

I glared up at him then looked away "if I'm going to be kept here against my will, I might as well know your name. If you can't even tell me that, then your apology isn't accepted".

He sighed, running a hand through his hair "fine. I'll tell you. But not with everyone around us like this. Wait until later" I nodded.

Suddenly his hands were cupping my face, his grey eyes looking down at me affectionately. He sighed "oh, you're so cute" I blushed but shoved his hands off my face "personal space, dude. Ever heard of it?"

He put his hands up in mock surrender before a man that looked slightly older than the both of us walked up.

He had light brown hair, with light brown eyes. He was tall, that was for sure, and he held a nonchalant expression.

"Hey, they need you up over there." He pointed to the front of the room.

"Thank you, Nishiki, for reminding me." Nishiki nodded before walking away.

White Hair -that's what I'm calling him until I figure out his name- turned to me "I have to take care of something, would you excuse me?" I nodded, not really wanting to talk to him any longer.

He walked away, now standing at the front of the room.

"Hey, everyone? Could I have your attention?" No one heard him. Touka stood beside him and raised her hands up, cupping them around her mouth.

"Hey, you fucks!!! Be quiet!!"

The whole room went silent, all of the attention focused on the people up front.

"First matter of business. We have some new news on Aogiri's next move. They have taken control of all the lower wards, and they're coming for this one next, with the One-Eyed Owl being their obvious leader. I know some of you were former members of said organization, but you're with us now. We'll stop them before they even reach us."

Wait, Aogiri? As in Aogiri Tree? I didn't know they were taking control of wards? Why would they need to do that?

"As for the second topic I wanted to discuss. Yes, the rumors are true. We have taken a human into our custody." Gasps were exchanged around the room as I felt like curling into myself and dying.

"You have no need to worry. I have full faith that she can help us." He sent a smile my way before putting his stern expression back on. "We need all the allies we can get in this fight, even if it means confiding in our natural enemy. We are going to end this war, once and for all. I know things are hard, but I need you all to trust me on this."

My eyes shifted around, looking at those around me.

I looked up as he was removing the eyepatch on his face, revealing one ghoul eye. My face grew shocked.

"As someone who was previously human, even before all this, I need you all to put your pride and egos aside. If we want to win, we need to stand." He cracked a finger as he spoke to everyone.

"Are you all ready? People are going to die, but they will not die in vain. They will be honored as heros for their bravery. If you wish to lay down your life for this fight, then stay, but if you'd rather live the rest of your life, you know where the door is."

No one moved a muscle. Everyone stood with determined expressions.

White-Hair smirked "good."
