Chapter Seven // Leo

I parked my car silently against the curb, shutting the engine off before exiting out of my car. I lock my vehicle before securing my keys in my pocket. I stare up at Angel's apartment building then scan the street, seeing no people insight which is surprising since this is the French Quarter.

With no one around, I use my advanced abilities to jump up to Angel's balcony, being as quiet as possible. I gaze through the balcony window, seeing that all his lights were off. Assuming Angel was asleep, I slowly open the balcony door, guessing that he left it unlocked. Once I stepped inside, I was hit with my beloved's mouth-watering scent.

A pleasurable shudder ran down my spine as I was enveloped in Angel's indescribable fragrance, clogging my sense momentarily. Shaking my head slightly to hopefully clear my thoughts, I closed the patio door behind me and slowly creep further into the house.

My dark eyes scanned Angel's apartment; it was just as I imagined his place to be. The house seemed to show off my beloved's creative personality with the items placed and hung around his apartment, even though it had a very simple feel to it. Angel had a light color scheme which helped give his home a wonderful flowy sense.

A faint smile painted my lips as my eyes gazed up and down the walls, admiring the pictures Angel had hung up there. Some were of him and his friends, others were of paintings he must have done himself. I reached my hand out and softly traced one of Angel's artworks, trying to picture in my mind how my beloved must have looked while painting it. The painting held much sadness in it, so it must have been during a time of great pain. I could clearly picture Angel with tears in his eyes, his hands shaking as he painted this beautiful piece of art.

The sound of, what I assume is, a guitar falling broke me out of my thoughts. My head snapped in the direction of the commotion, finally noticing an unfamiliar scent faintly mixed into my beloved's which causes my entire body to tense.

With my guard now up, I slowly stalk my way towards the room that I had heard the item fall. The sound of muffled curse words entered my range of hearing as I neared the door, Angel's scent becoming stronger; this must be his bedroom.

"-oh fuck...I better not have broken it..." A gruff voice muttered to himself, though I was clearly able to hear them with my advanced hearing. Lurking closer to the bedroom door, I notice that it was cracked open a smidge and carefully peered into Angel's room," Where is he?! He should be at home by now..."

My dark eyes land not upon my beloved's angelic figure, but instead a burly-looking man standing beside Angel's bedside. I hold back a growl that threatened to escape me as I continue to observe the man from afar; for all I know, this could be one of Angel's friends, and I did not want my beloved to have any reason to resent me.

But Angel has never mentioned any other friends besides Amy, Emily, and Nolan. And seeing as it was the middle of the night and Angel was nowhere in sight, this man was an intruder. Standing straighter than before, I slowly push open the door and clear my throat, making myself known to the stranger. The burly man whips around, a deep growl erupting from his chest.

   A werewolf.

" Who the fuck are you?!" The man exclaims, crouching ever-so-slightly to prepare to attack.

" I could be asking you the same thing," I state, glaring at the man as I take a couple strides towards the angry werewolf," Who are you and why are you in my beloved's house?"

" Beloved..?" He questions, taking a large whiff of the air before looking back at me with hatred burning in his dark eyes," You're a fucking vampire..."

" I'm surprised it took you this long to notice, being a werewolf and all." I remark casually, angering the beast further," Now answer my question mutt; who are you and why are you in my beloved's house."

The wolf simply growls at me, baring his teeth," Angel is mine. Not you're beloved."

An empty laugh escapes me as I smirk at the man," Yours? How funny of you to think that." I state, egging the werewolf on.

I could tell the burly man wanted to snap at me, but he instead takes a deep breath, counting quietly to himself before looking back at me," Look, man, I don't want to start any trouble." He states, pinching the bridge of his nose stressfully," I just came here to talk to Angel."

" Well he's not here as you can tell, and neither should you," I growl, crossing my arms tightly on my chest," So I recommend you leave before I rip that head of yours off your body."

The werewolf suddenly snaps at me, the man's inner wolf now taking control over his human host," Don't you fucking talk like that to me corpse." the wolf growled, baring his teeth at me as his black eyes shimmered with anger. But the growling slowly ceased to exist as the man gained control back over his body. Once again, the werewolf takes in a deep breath as an attempt to calm himself down,"...Sorry. I don't want to start a fight, especially in Angel's house."

" Then leave!" I spat, losing my composure; I didn't like this man in Angel's house, MY beloved's house, and I wanted him out now," This is my final warning mutt."

The burly man clenched his fists tightly, his knuckles turning white from the pressure as he counted quietly to himself once more," Alright." He replies, his tone tight and his posture rigid. You could tell he wanted to stand his ground, but as he said, neither of us wanted to start a fight in Angel's apartment.

My eyes stay locked onto the werewolf as he slowly makes his way by me, sensing his anger rolling off him in waves as he passed me. But he suddenly stops," If I see you here again corpse, I will not hesitate to kill you." The man growls before finally leaving, the door slamming shut behind him.

" The nerve of that guy..." I complain to myself, my hands yanking slightly at my hair as a frustrated sigh escapes past my lips.

Seeing as Angel was not here, I decided it was best if I were to leave for tonight; who knows, the mutt might try to call the police on me or something. Like the cops could actually catch me.

I laugh quietly at my own personal joke, heading in the direction of the balcony when I spot something from the corner of my eye. A white envelope laid upon the ground, right in front of the door as to seem like someone slid it underneath the door. Knowing that is wasn't there before, I go and investigate the letter. I crouch down and pick up the envelope, immediately my nose catches a whiff of the werewolf's muscular scent," Of course he left a letter..." I growl, feeling possessiveness and jealousy course through my body.

Without a second thought, I rip open the letter and read what the mutt decided to write to my beloved:

   My Dearest Angel,

Sorry cannot even begin to express the guilt that I feel for what I've done. But I will say it once more: I am sorry. I shouldn't have lost my temper with you, and I should have trusted you more. And I especially shouldn't have...hit you. I didn't mean to. I just got so angry, and the next thing I know you're holding your cheek in pain.

And the look in your eyes...I will never forget the fear that showed in your eyes when you stared at me. I know what you've been through, and yet I acted on my fucking emotions instead of my head. I'm supposed to protect you, not hurt you. It eats me up inside knowing that I've caused you pain.

But I'm getting help. I'm going to anger management classes twice a week as well as seeing a therapist for...you know. I'm doing whatever it takes to get my anger under control. I'm getting better, for you.

Angel, I love you with every fiber of my being. I know what I've messed up, but please give me another chance. I won't screw up this time. I won't give up on you, on us. Just, please...I can't live without you.

Call me if you've changed your mind. I'll see you soon.

   Love,

   Jason.

The corners surrounding my vision are tinted red as my blood boils with rage; how DARE he lay a single finger on Angel, and then have the AUDACITY to beg for forgiveness?! Now I wish I did rip his head off...

The ringing of my cell phone snapped me out of my angered thoughts. I stand up once more, the letter and envelope still in hand, and grab my phone," Hello?" I say once I answer the incoming call.

" Where the hell are you Leo?!" I hear Max scolds from the other end of the phone," You said you'd be back by now. And Ella won't stop bothering and keeps rambling on about your beloved and finding her beloved and shit."

I roll my eyes at Max," I got caught up in something, I'll be there in a few." I state plainly, glaring hatefully at the letter clenched in my hands.

" I swear to god if you're stalking your beloved-" I hang up the phone before he can continue on with his scolding.

I slip my phone back into my pocket, my gaze solely fixated on the crumpled letter in my hands. With a sigh, I crumple the paper into a ball and stuff it into one of my pant pockets before walking in the direction of the balcony doors. I take one last look around Angel's house, allowing myself to bask in my beloved's fragrance before finally exiting his home. Shutting the balcony door behind me, I hop down and jump into my car. Starting the vehicle up, I quickly drive off towards the direction of my house, my mind still processing this evening's events.

Anger coursed through my veins when I feel the balled up letter in my pocket; I couldn't have Angel finding it. I just couldn't. As possessive as it sounds...

   Angel. Is. MINE.
